Cardinal Cove is the perfect gateway to your Lake Gaston experience! This beautiful property boasts MAIN LAKE VIEWS from a PROTECTED COVE- the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! As soon as you enter the home you are greeted with an amazing view of the main lake from every room in the house. The well-thought-out design of the home is spread across three levels with ample room for multiple families to spread out and enjoy, yet cozy enough for comfortable relaxation. Immediately, you will be drawn to the ever-present, MAJESTIC MAIN LAKE VIEWS from every bedroom and living space in the house! The private dock only steps from the house down the gently sloping lot is in a protected cove. Being just steps from the water allows for endless fun and enjoyment including swimming, floating (multiple floats, noodles, etc. provided), kayaking (2 provided), paddle boarding (1 provided), boating, tubing, fishing, etc. Others around the lake will have no problem finding you for an evening get together with friends.
The home offers 5 BEDROOMS and 3.5 BATHROOMS. TWO MASTER SUITES with en suite bathrooms and walk-in closets (and great views of the lake) are available. Groups of kids can be separated into either of TWO BUNK ROOMS, making this a perfect location for multiple families (extra cot provided for use as needed). Adults will appreciate that even with a large group, the sleeping and common spaces allow for a feeling of privacy and discretion.
Enjoy the lakeside firepit (NEW ADIRONDACK CHAIRS AND FIRE PIT FOR 2021) and s’mores on those chilly evenings. Cornhole boards are also provided for your enjoyment. Relax in the hammock with a good book. A Weber gas grill is also available for your cookouts. Complimentary high-speed internet is provided.
The main master with a king bed and attached bathroom is on the main level. Also on the main level is the living room (with TV and Apple TV), kitchen and sunroom/dining room. Off the main level enjoy the well-appointed and comfortable screened porch with cozy furniture and AMAZING VIEWS of the lake, plus additional deck space for lounging and dining. A new OUTDOOR BAR overlooking the lake with seating for 4 has been added on the deck for 2021!
The lower level has a 2ND MASTER with queen bed, attached bathroom and walk-in closet. A furnished game room/family room equipped with a large sectional, fireplace, TV (with Amazon Firestick) foosball table (NEW FOOSBALL TABLE FOR 2021) and board games along with a game table for your enjoyment. An additional bedroom with a set of bunkbeds is also located on the lower level. The lower level walks out to a covered patio for outdoor dining, just steps to the lake. You will find two more very large bedrooms (with incredible views of the main lake) upstairs with an additional full bathroom. One of the upstairs bedrooms features a comfortable queen bed and full furnishings, with the other upstairs bedroom set up as a bunk room to sleep 5 (two sets of bunk beds: one twin over twin, and one twin over full).

Parking is never an issue with a three private driveways converging in two circle drives throughout the shaded property. No dusty gravel roads to the property either as we have paved roads throughout the neighborhood. Plus there is plenty of room to park you boat trailer.
All of our guests are invited to use one of the 2 KAYAKS and 1 PADDLEBOARD provided for exploring the nearby coves. We do provide a limited supply of life jackets with the kayaks. However, you may want to bring your own life jackets to ensure that "just right" fit for everyone (especially small children!).
The large dock has deep clean water with a firm bottom, and offers two areas for boat tie-up for your use. Steps at the water’s edge allow for gradual entry to the water in about 2 to 3 feet of water, or feel free to jump in off the end of the dock into 6+ feet of water. The calm water cove allows for safe swimming, floating, kayaking and paddle-boarding for worry free water play. Swim at your own risk. NO DIVING!
You will also find a refrigerator at the boathouse for your convenience. Also provided at the dock: multiple inflatable water toys, floating saddles, fishing gear, sun loungers, teak furniture, umbrellas and a portable speaker.
PETS WELCOME! The property even includes a FENCED DOGGIE PARK on-site in the back yard by the water! PET POLICY: well-behaved and house-trained dogs allowed (maximum 2 dogs; no cats please). Dogs must be at least one year of age, neutered/spayed, up-to-date on rabies and other vaccinations, and free of fleas/ticks. Guests must pick up after pets and properly dispose of waste. Pet fee (non-refundable): $125 for first dog, $75 for second dog. Please provide details about dogs to owners prior to arrival.
You are in a PRIME location on the North side of the main channel and CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. Only 4 MILES to Food Lion, ABC Liquor Store, Dollar Store, Lake Gaston Pizza, Hwy 55 Burgers, Subway, LKG Coffee, Ace Hardware and more. By water you are just a few minutes to the Eaton's Ferry Bridge and the local waterfront restaurants (Water's View Restaurant and The Pointe Restaurant). There is a public boat ramp only two miles from the house (by land and water). Southpointe Marina and Washburn’s Marina are close by for your fuel and boating convenience.
Guests coming from the North or South using the I-85 corridor will be pleasantly surprised by the accessibility from major metro areas (about 1 to 1.5 hours from Raleigh and Richmond).
Nearby are churches, a plant nursery, golf course, mini golf, farmers market, and flea market. Our house is a good base for a visit to Rosemont of Virginia Vineyards and Winery.
Any jet skis and boats on the boat lifts at the boat house are property of the owners, not to be tampered with, and not for use by renters. There are numerous boat rental companies on the lake for your convenience.

The house is in a really great location and has all the amenities you need. It is truly cove style with main lake views. The hosts are really responsive and super helpful and friendly.

Stayed the week at Cardinal Cove. My kids and grandkids had a great time swimming off the dock. We rented a pontoon boat for three days and was able to tie up the boat at the dock. Easy access to the lake.

We gathered to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday and what a great weekend! The property is right on the water and has lots of places to hang out - hard to pick which one. We appreciated the time together so much and beautiful weather certainly helped with the gorgeous lake views.

Our family of ten enjoyed our stay at Cardinal Cove. The water toys available were fun for the entire family, especially the paddle boat. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils. The upstairs sitting area was a little small for our family movie watching but the downstairs sitting area worked fine.
The property is older and needs a bit of maintenance on walkway to lake specifically the handrails. Inside, the property is updated with new lighting and fans. A grocery store is very close by for those food items forgotten.
Tropical storm Ophelia arrived during our stay but only dampened one day. The lake was nice and even the puppy got into swimming.

Nice, quiet, and safe neighborhood. Great view of the lake. The fishing was good too. We caught sunfish, white perch, largemouth bass, and blue catfish right off the dock.
If you want to get away from it all and reconnect with friends and family, Cardinal Cove is the perfect place.

Great layout, well equip kitchen, boat house, outside chairs.
We found some dishes & cookware that were dirty. Oven light out. Carpets were not vacuumed. Some updates needed. Promised we could take occupancy early, key pad on timer didn’t let us in until after 4. Some of the toilets need repairs. But overall we had a good stay.

We took our family of 3 generations here for the kid's (age 10 & 12) Spring Break 2023, the first full week of April. My Father-in-law is 80 and was able to manage the house easily; though, the stairs to the water are no joke, even for the fit folks. Stick to the stairs, as the yard way down presents odd footing.
It felt as if we went to a family member's home, everything we needed in the kitchen and bedrooms was already there. The gas grill fired up easily and we enjoyed grilling multiple times. The fire pit and complimentary Smore's kit was an overwhelming success; we did have to grab firewood at the nearby Food Lion. All the tools for managing the fire and toasting the marshmallows were there too.
The kids and adults loved the available life jackets, kayaks, stand-up paddle board, and the paddle boat. The cove is nicely off the main lake which minimized the impact of the wind. We were fortunate to get the sun most days, temps low 80s and the water was chilly but kind at 60°ish.
We had two fishermen in our group that spent nearly every opportunity casting lines off the dock. We visited Stonehouse Timber Lodge for live minnows that proved very worth the trip. We had success with artificial baits, just not as much. We caught more than a dozen bass with the biggest 3 ' 11 oz, several catfish with the biggest nearly 5 pounds, and a ton of Crappie at a pound or better.
A wonderful trip no doubt, and if you have a chance, get doughnuts from Jenny Cakes just around the corner.

Seriously, the views from each room are just terrific!
It's seems a quiet little cove when you're standing on the dock with a fishing pole, but up in the house you know you're part of the main lake and you can see across to the other side.
Sunrises are fantastic!
The house matched up perfectly (plus some) to the listing with maybe a few great surprises thrown in...
(We were here for Thanksgiving and there were Christmas decorations up... SO thoughtful and lovely!)
And if you like to cook- the kitchen is ready for you! Extremely well stocked with more than just "the basics".
Owners were super-friendly and helpful, responded right away to answer a question we had...
Overall, a great experience, a really comfortable stay, and a wonderful vacation... with GORGEOUS sunrises!!

Nice Summer Retreat
Our family enjoyed staying at Cardinal Cove. The deck, water floats, kayaks and paddle board provided for most of our outdoor time. The water was shallow enough for my 5 year old grandchildren to comfortably play. (There were tiny worm-like leaches that stuck to our feet, but that is lake life.)
The house is well insulated so noise from other floors was not highly noticeable and the layout & space was enough to accommodate my family and friends. There were also 3 fold-out tables that were nice to have for setting up extra eating spaces and a place to put together a puzzle or play games.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were well-pleased with the property and all it provided.

The house was nicely updated and had everything we needed and more. Very clean. Loved the access to the water toys, which made the experience that much more amazing! Plenty of room for the family to spread out from the indoor spaces to the outdoor screened in porch and dock. Loved the water toys (paddle boards, kayak, noodles, floats, paddleboat). Nature at its best with the birds, squirrels, egrets, turtles and bats. The firepit is an added bonus and if I'd brought my dog the fenced area would have been perfect. Family Lake Fun!
This house worked perfectly for our family of ten. We spent our days on the dock and in the water in this peaceful cove. The kayaks, paddle board, and paddle boat provided hours of fun! We’d love to come back again!

We all enjoyed using them, and the cove location made it great to enjoy the water sports since it was protected and out of the wind. The kitchen had more pots and pans and dishes that you could possibly use. In fact, I am on a mission to find the everyday bowls and plates that were in the kitchen. We spent all of our time on the dock, in the water or at the firepit, so we really didn't miss the tv that much I guess. :) We would stay there again! We also were very close to the Pontoon Boat rental location, and we enjoyed fabulous weather on the lake and were able to load our food, etc. on to the boat from the dock without dragging everything to the marina. Beware the steps, so if you have accessibility issues, the stairs could be an issue. The only downside for us was that we do not have AppleTV or Chromecast accounts, so we missed watching Sunday night and Monday night football (or we just didn't know how to use them). There was plenty to do otherwise, so I hate to even mention that. The owner's were very responsive to our questions in trying to help use get it to work. We had a great time at Cardinal Cove. The property owners did a fantastic job communicating the amenities and any supplemental items we needed to bring. The house’s 5 bedrooms were great. We had a great time at Cardinal Cove. The property owners did a fantastic job communicating the amenities and any supplemental items we needed to bring. The house’s 5 bedrooms were great. We were able to have the kids sleep upstairs, my husband and I were on the main floor and my in-laws were able to relax in a basement bedroom.
We had a blast fishing and kayaking. The dock is great and the owners have upgraded the seating from the pictures.

Beautiful house with a wonderful view!
House was very clean, beautifully decorated and has a wonderful view of the lake! It is situated in a private cove which was perfect for letting the kids kayak and paddleboard. We loved watching the birds on the back deck. The games and fooseball/air hockey table kept the kids entertained on the rainy day. Grocery store and pizza place are just a few mins away. We had a wonderful visit and would love to come back another time!!
