Nothing at all.
Everything. The room was pieced together including wooden beading on the bath! Cobwebs over the windows. Badly fitted curtain rails. Lots of stairs. Musty damp smell. Old carpets, holes in coving. Dull orange lighting in dining room. Food made for very old people ie mash potato and cabbage! Awful.

The hotel was fine, a fairly old fashioned seaside hotel, with fairly basic rooms. As a place to stay it was fine, the room was fairly small with two single beds in our room (I was there with my son), the bathroom was clean if a little tired but for the price, it was all we needed.
For the on site car parking they wanted to charge £6, but because we arrived at 4 pm on a saturday we could park on street just outside for £2. The on street parking is free on SUndays.

We did not have a long time in Ilfracombe. It was a comfortable stay
Hate showers over the bath

Plumbing issues could not get hot water in the shower

On first looks I was skepital but upon entering the lobby the staff were very friendly and infor ative, the room was a triple room and it had a double and single bed with private bathroom. The breakfast I got to say was exceptional 👌 and location great
The beds were very hard and not comfortable for me personally, I'd rather a bed that was a bit more softer, the bed as well was not a double it was smaller than a standard bed. Also there was a smell out in the corridor but that could just be down to how old the hotel is

Was in a good spot for the local shops, and near a weatherspoon pub so handy for meals. The room was alright and the staff was friendly
That’s the breakfast wasn’t included and had to pay for it separate, if you wanted to

The reception staff are lovely. Brilliant location & view from our bay window. Free parking off street.
Huge functional bedroom.
The price for the room is good.
Breakfast at £12 per person is too dear if you only want toast. Stains on the carpet in the bedroom. Too hot. Bed was tilted so my partner fell out twice. Tiny shower ensuite, you couldn't swing a cat in. Faulty hairdryer blew up in my face after 5 seconds on, which was replaced by the lovely Receptionist.

Well located and easy check in.
It felt very dated, and a little like a care-home. It was clean, comfortable and basic, but almost a bit sad. i did feel like I was in an old folks home. The bathroom was just fine, clean, but very basic.

Staff were very accommodating and friendly.
A bit confusing getting to our room and the hotel was a little outdated.

Value for money
Extremely slow elevator and a very small bathroom
8.0
Great location close to the shops, beach, museum, restaurants and the town centre. Friendly welcoming cleaner. Professional, Courteous helpful lady worked front of desk, any questions asked were answered. Value for money.
Wifi wasn’t great in the room so if you need WiFi you would have to use it in the lobby. However I wasn’t travelling for work so we were ok. Cobwebs on the back wall and a very dusty fan which was strange because the rest of the room was very clean.

the location is fine, close to the main restaurants and to the sea side
it’s a really old hotel which hasn’t been refurbished for a long time. It smelled a bit weird when we went in to the reception and then when we entered the room. We have got used to that though. The wallpaper/painting coming off the wall..

- nice, soft towels
- bathroom clean
- staff were nice
- the shower was always cold to lukewarm. We overheard another guest having the same issue.
- mattress probably needed replacing. So uncomfortable that we both came away with neck and shoulder pains.
- no hairdryer, as stated in room description.
- no extractor fan or openable window in shower room
- could hear people in other rooms, especially above. We could even hear vomiting one morning which wasn’t the nicest noise to wake up to.
- all the floors creaked
- the lift is extremely slow. It’s quicker to walk to the top floor than wait
- the bar was closed before 10pm on a Saturday night over the bank holiday weekend.
- it was rare to see another guest. It was like staying in the hotel from the shining.
Others describe the hotel as “tired” but it’s beyond that. The whole thing needs gutting and updated. Ripped carpets, wallpaper pealing off, dated radiators, damp corners in rooms. They’ve half pulled off the “keep your distance” covid stickers around the hotel. There’s random fake grass about and cheap jewellery for sale in the lobby which is displayed like it’s high end.
For context, we had a two night stay on Easter bank holiday weekend. The lack of people around on what should be a busy weekend says it all.

location was good, just a short stroll to the harbour
NO HOT WATER

Typical charming Victorian hotel. Bar and lounge facilities and breakfast included in price.
State of repair and age of the windows. Could do with a slightly larger supply of milk and tea/coffee sachets in the room.
