About this bed and breakfast
If you are looking for a relaxing outdoor family get away on the beautiful Cypress Creek in Wimberley, Texas; then you have found your heaven. Our cabin (Paul's Barn) is 200 feet from the waters edge with an amazing view from the porch and patio. We have 2 swings to launch yourself into the crystal clear water, both deep and shallow water. We highly recommend you bring your favorite float. We like to use the term Glamping, we are upscale camping with beds, ceiling fans, a restroom w/ outdoor shower, efficiency kitchen and all the outdoor toys and sports equipment to make any kid (small or large) smile and laugh.
Paul's barn is a collection of old with a touch of new. The open air layout and huge cypress tree canopy is perfect for the outdoor lover. The evenings are very pleasant with the constant flow of clean fresh air under lots of ceiling fans. We have recently installed a mini split AC unit in the loft area (you can feel it in the downstairs area). You will love the outdoor shower. The decor and amenities, make for a perfect escape for a small family of 5 or less. We have lots of fun games and outdoor activities for the kids. Our close proximity to town (1 mile) puts you in the heart of Wimberley in just 1-2 minutes.
Come relax, unwind and enjoy your family time on the banks of Cypress Creek in Wimberley.

We had a great time at the guest house on Cypress Creek! I found that the listing and associated pictures were very accurate, so it was exactly what I expected and hoped for!
Communication: Wendy was easy to get ahold of. She gave us a lot of space and privacy, but was available if we needed help.
Indoors: The guest house is so cute. It's thoughtfully decorated, and designed for kids, adults, and pets. There are games, toys, dart board, and foosball table, plus a covered porch with a basketball arcade. Lots to do in case of rainy weather. Although the house is not airtight, we did not see any bugs or spiders in the house at all. Loved the outdoor shower! The beds are up a steep staircase, but the kids loved it and were comfortable enough. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. If you are staying more than 2 nights, I recommend bringing additional coffee, paper towels, and toilet paper, although there are 2 grocery stores very nearby.
Outside: There's so much to do outside, but we spent most of our time at the creek. The water was historically low when we went, but it was still 6 feet deep in the main swimming hole, and was cold! Loved the rope swing, kayaks, and floaties! There is a basketball court with pickleball, zip line, and other yard things. Plenty of space to sit outside. The main house is right next door, but no windows face the guest house, and we felt that we had enough privacy.
Overall, a great stay, and will come again!

We had an absolutely fantastic time - the property is a hidden gem, secluded and serene, with a crystal-clear creek that provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation. It was so refreshing to have a spot all to ourselves, away from the crowds.
The location is also a huge plus. It’s super close to the square, where we enjoyed delicious meals at local restaurants, live music, and even a fascinating glass-blowing demonstration. Everything we wanted was just a short drive away.
The environment was peaceful and the whole experience was incredibly fun for our family. Whether we were lounging by the creek or exploring nearby attractions, there was always something enjoyable to do.
We couldn’t have asked for a better spot for a family getaway. Highly recommend.

Spent a week on the property The property was exactly as listed! We did share the creek with the neighbors one morning but beds were comfortable, air unit and fans kept the barn cool and we loved the outdoor shower.

Beautiful property with steps right into the cool and clear Cypress Creek. Wendy is an AMAZING host! Paul’s Barn was comfortable for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) with all the outdoor adventures right off the porch and plenty of fun games to keep our young boys busy. Rope swing, platform to jump off, zip line, kayaks, and basketball court were all a hit. Hershey (the cat) was an added bonus for cuddles and entertainment too! We got lucky and didn’t have to share the creek with other properties while we were there. There is a small AC in the loft to help keep the barn cool at night and plenty of fans to use during the day for good air flow since the doors are not sealing the barn completely. Shower was outside and the kids thought it was hilarious. Wendy’s property is only a couple of minutes from Wimberly Square. Had a GREAT time! Memories were made and relaxation was achieved. Thank you Wendy for sharing your little slice of heaven!!

Me and my family went to this property to view the total eclipse and enjoy some time away from home for a weekend. While we did catch a lot of clouds for the event the rest of the stay was quite enjoyable.
We had no issues staying cool with the great airflow of the property, keeping the mosquitos out of the barn, or making simple meals.
We enjoyed the fireflies and my toddler had a lot of fun following the local cat and playing at Old Baldy and the Blue Hole Playground (both only a short drive away). We didn't experience the amazingly clear creek due to how cold the water was (just being cautious for the toddler) but would definitely have taken a dip in the summer.

Our family enjoyed our relaxed weekend in Wimberly, we swam and sat outside and enjoyed the quiet. We had everything we needed, and our boys loved all the toys and sports to keep them busy! Wendy was a great host and was available for any questions we had. My boys asked when we could come back!

I would not recommend this for a family, Maybe this cabin can be a good use for 2 people. In the review of the cabin it clearly stated that the cabin had 2 bedrooms wich was false. In my opinion there is no privacy to do anything with the owner being present at the property staying less then 100 feet away. We decided to not stay at the property and we had to spend more money to rent a hotel for the night, and the next day we had to spend 1,500$ to rent another cabin for the next 2 days. By the way I have been going and renting cabins ever since 2015 about 2 or 3 times each year and I never had to write a bad review for any so it really upsets me that I have to write this bad review wich I hate writing.

Paul’s barn has a lot of character. Very quaint and unique. We enjoyed floating, kayaking and rope jumping in the river. Smokey our dog will not go out of the water. Wendy is very attentive even tho she’s not around but she made sure that our stay is comfortable and enjoyable. We have a little glitch on the AC system but she immediately addressed it. definitely will recommend!

Adventure Lover
We did not have a good luck with weather, but the place is wonderful and has a lot to offer. It’s cute, with access to Cypress Creek to kayaking. The town is just a couple minutes away where you can visit the Blue Hole, shop around and dine at several great places. We loved it, and plan to visit soon again.

TX Hill Country Getaway
We really enjoyed the property as a family of 4. The simple kitchen gave us a great excuse to skip the complex grocery trip and check out the restaurants on the creek right down the road which were great. Also gave us more time to play board games, hike the blue hole trails, sit by the fire and enjoy the river. My 14 yr old and 18 yr old must’ve played on the zip line 100 times and almost taught our lab to fetch it and bring it up hill. If you visit don’t expect a 5 star full service cabin. This is a secondary barn/studio to the main house so it’s all about it’s unique rustic character and all about the creek front location. As described it’s more like glamping so tap into your adventurous side and go enjoy it. Highly recommend. Thanks for sharing your place with us. We’ll be back.

Fun on the creek
We had a wonderful stay in this rustic barn/ house. The owner was welcoming, the accommodations were unique and fun. It's perfect if you enjoy the outdoors and games. If you are looking for posh this is not right for you. We were attending a wedding so getting ready was a challenge with the small bathroom but the location, amenities, whimsy of the barn and the welcoming attitude of the owners made it a wonderful and memorable weekend. We would happily stay again.

Amazing
Such a cool property. Wimberley is a special place but this barn on the Cypress Creek is awesome. Couldn't keep my son off the rope swing. And the open doors and patio lights create a gorgeous setting. Owner was fantastic with communication. Will go again for sure!

What a beautiful spot with plenty to offer for all. The kids loved the many outdoor activities available while the adults loved being so close to Wimberley’s shops & restaurants. Not to mention, Wendy was super responsive when needed

A perfect combo of indoor and outdoor living
I ❤️ the Texas Hill Country, and This rental is nestled right in the middle of it!
It's a perfect spot for folks looking to enjoy the best example of natural beauty Texas has to offer, but prefer plumbing 🚽 and proper mattresses!
Wendy is super nice; you couldn't ask for a better host. 😍
We spent our time relaxing by the lovely creek that's right in the back yard and getting competitive over foosball and pop-a-shot 🏀.
After dinner at the Leaning Pear 🍐 (highly recommend!), we relaxed on the sofa with all the doors and windows open while sipping Texas beers and binging YouTube shows.
Anyone looking for a quintessential Texas experience (and you can trust me -- I'm from Texas), should book this property!

Hill Country Dream
We absolutely loved staying in Paul's barn. We were looking for a comfortable experience that would connect us with the outdoors. We wanted to escape air conditioning and automobiles, and we wanted to be able to swim to our heart's content--but we didn't want to rough it. Wendy's property hit all the marks--it is like glamping--you're open to the elements--but with the tree canopy completely covering the barn and the swimming hole, the heat isn't too bad (and we were there on days when the high was near 100). At night, you can close the doors and leave the screened-in windows open for a nice breeze & protection from mosquitos. The beds are super comfortable, and Wendy has really thought of every amenity--fire pit, bbq, efficiency kitchen, beautiful outdoor shower, a dozen fans, every game you can think of (even a zip line). We spent hours swimming in the creek, and dashed up to Wimberley for drinks in the evening. The town is 3 minutes up the road, there's a giant supermarket open till 11. Wendy was wonderful to deal with, very welcoming, as were her husband and son. We can't wait to go back!

Not private; owners live 10 feet away
They were home and invited guests over while we’re trying to use the amenities: my young daughter felt uncomfortable in her bathing suit being around strangers and the shower is outside, weird they would not understand my concern: electric went out and they went to bed: she told me she doesn’t have to have an electrician on call and she can invite whomever she wants over whenever she wants: if you are triggered by no locks on doors, showering in front of people and strangers right next door, then a great place to stay

Fun at the creek
We had a great time at this property. Pictures do not do it justice. Kids loved the creek and all the amenities. Zip line was a favorite as well as the rope swing. I would caution anyone listening to music. The sound does carry and appears louder to neighbors than it seems. Overall the kids made great memories.

Great getaway!
We had an awesome time! There was plenty to do for everyone in the family right there at the barn, but was also very close to restaurants, shopping, and the Blue Hole Park. Great for all ages! The water was the perfect depth and the waterfall at the dam was an exciting element.
We were a little surprised how close it was to a house- we thought it would be a little more secluded but we didn’t seem to be in anyone’s way. It just made taking turns to change in the bathroom a little longer when we were ready to swim or hit the sack.
We would definitely be interested in staying here again!

Lovely place to stay on cypress creek
We loved our stay in Paul’s Barn. Highly recommend for a short stay with kids or a peaceful stay for a single or a couple (probably kids 6+ as there is a very steep spiral staircase). Note (as described in the listing) this is a converted barn that is not air conditioned or closed to the outside, we had great weather and were not hot or cold at all. Also, cooking facilities are a grill, a microwave, and coffee maker so plan accordingly (again, as listed in the description). Tons of games and activities around the property including direct access to a really great swimming hole with shallow parts for non swimmers, rope swings, and beautiful trees.
