About this house rental
If you want a million dollar view to go along with a spectacular property, Best Dam View will not disappoint! This property is the latest addition to Wind Luxury Properties joining our other properties at Smith Mountain Lake (VRBO #'s648334 Wind Family Estate, 515931 Wind Family Compound, and 825368 A Second Wind), our amazing home on the Rappahannock River (VRBO #966039), as well as one of the nicest homes at Wintergreen Resort (VRBO #1208597). Best Dam View will continue our goal to provide the most luxurious properties in the Mid-Atlantic region! Our properties at Smith Mountain Lak are rented Sunday to Sunday in the summer weeks from the third week of June to Labor Day..
Upon purchasing this amazing home, we immediately undertook extensive renovations to take it to the next level. New in 2020 the home underwent renovations including new floors, fresh paint, new windows to soak in the priceless view of Smith Mountain, a state of the art designer kitchen suitable for a chef, and 2500 square feet of deck space, half of which is under roof. The extensive decks provide outdoor living space to maximize your ability to enjoy the signature view of Smith Mountain Lake's famed "gap," and relax with a cool breeze blowing off the lake only 25 feet away! There are a very limited number of homes on the entire lake that can lay claim to this magnificent view and we look forward to sharing it with our guests. The grandeur of the porches cannot be overstated and you will find yourself wanting to savor every moment on them.
This home boasts 5 bedrooms (beds for 12), including 2 true master suites, and 4 full bathrooms. A spacious open floor plan living room was created by removing walls that flows nicely into a dream kitchen with new floors, cabinets, countertops, and appliances. A formal dining room is available, as well as bar seating but we strongly suggest you follow our lead and eat on the deck whenever the weather allows! A virtual wall of glass allows full enjoyment of your view from the kitchen, living room, sunroom, and bar area. Four of the 5 bedrooms allow you to see the lake and mountains from the comfort of our new beds and with access to the decks either directly from the rooms or nearby. Downstairs also provides a ping pong table as well as a card table for rainy day and late night entertainment.
Along with an amazing property, we will provide all the luxuries you need to enjoy your stay at the lake including kayaks, canoe, paddle boat, stand up paddle board, fishing rods, and other toys!
For your safety, we have security Sytems at all of our homes which some homes inlaced outdoor security cameras.

Beautiful location, kitchen & views were amazing.
The dock was great for the boat we rented. We spent almost the entire time on the dock fishing or jumping, or floating on the rafts provided. The paddle boards & canoes were awesome!

We loved the location on the lake and really enjoyed the decks and the dock area. Lots of water toys that were fun.
The house layout worked well for us. We needed a few kitchen items that weren’t there. The house felt a bit tired…loose door knobs, window blinds, outdated master bath, leaking shower in second main floor bathroom and had some struggles with main floor tv. Still the house worked for us. Nice big kitchen with lots of storage.

We had three generations at the house and everyone had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay -the comfortable beds, super nice kitchen, and expansive decks were the highlights. The hosts were helpful and responsive. The best part though is the incredible view of the lake and the dam! We can’t wait to go back!!

Beautiful, newly renovated home with definitely the best view on Smith Mountain Lake! The close up view of the dam and mountain is breathtaking. The location of being tucked in the little cove helps with the boat traffic in that area. Really a great location to be in and still have that amazing view. Property seemed very clean and well kept. check in process was seamless and Ashley was easy to get in touch with along with answering all the questions we had prior to arrival. Definitely a return spot!

Perfect for us! Open floor plan upstairs that opened to a large deck. The views really can’t be beat. Perfect view for Smith Mountain and the dam. Just like all the pictures. We loved that this was such an updated clean lake house. We really love l this neighborhood on this side of the lake and look forward to returning to this one! Thanks for the hospitality!

We had an amazing fall getaway to Smith Mountain Lake. The home fulfilled all of our needs and the views were break taking! Our favorite part of the stay was sitting in the porch outside the kitchen. We will definitely be keeping this in mind for next year!

The lake experience was fantastic! The house location, activities and water sport equipment were excellent.
The house had some minor issues i.e. ceiling fans not working/broke, plumbing and cleanliness. However, these issues didn’t affect our great vacation at SML.

My family and I went with 2 other families just for the weekend. Ages of kids ranged from 3-12 years of age. The house had plenty of rooms to accommodate us all. Beds were comfortable.
The deck and dock were the highlight. There are kayaks, canoes and a paddle board.
It’s a two story dock and the views are awesome.
Mitchell marina is around the corner which makes it easy to rent boats. We rented a pontoon.
We will definitely stay here again. Make sure you bring your own soap, trash bags, paper towels and toilet paper. None is provided.

It's a beautiful house that we stayed from Friday late morning to Sunday early afternoon. Eight of us slept in 7 confortable, nice beds. 4 out 5 bedrooms, the main floor, 2 large porches and the high deck at the boat docking area have a great beautiful view of SML. Best part is waking up before sunrise to enjoy the view at dawn on the main level porch. We really enjoyed the porch with SML view at any time of day. Walking around the neighborhood after lunch is also very nice, safe and peaceful.
We rent a boat big enough for 12 people, we 8 ladies had a wonderful experience boating in the SML. About 45-minute drive to the house in fall is very beautiful. State park is only 19' away from the house. Great restaurants near by the house (17' -35').
People at SML are very friendly and kind. I rate this property and SML 5 stars!
The house driveway is very stiff. Need to pay extra attention and project the way when driving.

The views on each level were beautiful, we barely left the house since we didn't have too. It was our first time to Smith Mountain Lake and will not be our last. Beautiful with a knockout view
We had a great time visiting with family and friends recently at SML! We rented this home and the other one on Woodland Terrace that Ashley manages. They were both awesome houses. We were glad everyone has able to be accommodated by both houses comfortably. Ashley was really helpful to our group from start to finish. We hope to get everyone together again!

Beautiful newly renovated house with the best view
Loved our stay in the colder months. Definitely looking forward to our summer visit and enjoying the water. The house was great to enjoy even in December. My wife was happy with our down time and comfort.

Everything was had described on the VRBO. We stay 3 nights for Christmas, weather was in the high 60. Sunset and sunrise to die for.

Huddleston
The location is great, the house is gorgeous but not welcoming and it is definitely overpriced.
We have used Vrbo multiple times and this was the first time that we have to sign a long agreement for the owner to ensure that we would take the garbage out, make the beds, do the dishes, leave them out of the dishwasher, clean the bbq, etc., etc. in short, do the full cleaning job or pay a penalty!
The bathroom towels are old and cheap, and so are the beddings. The front door did not open unless you PUSH it very hard... we informed the owner and decided to leave the back door unlocked in order not to break the main entrance's door.
We tried to use the BBQ and it was so dirty and greased that we decided not to touch it. The front and back of the house would welcome some cleaning as well.
We kept the owner informed but getting a quick response took some follow up...
I must say that the view is amazing and the house living area is very nice.
Huddleston is a gorgeous place and the autumn season is worth the trip.

I tested positive for Covid 5 days before our check in date, and the owner refused to let us move our 3 night stay to another weekend, even though the rest of October and November were free...just so unbelievable and inflexible! 3 couples had been scheduled, and just one went because of my sickness, and myself and others lost all of our money. Our friends who went reported that there was no internet, the trash had to be taken 10 miles away, towels and sheets smelled moldy as did the bedrooms, thermostat would not move from 85, no hot water in upstairs bath, doors stuck shut, beds weren't made up, blinds in Master didn't work, and 2 ceiling fans didn't work. This house needs work, and the owner needs to be accommodating. We lost a lot of money, and our friends had a terrible stay. Beware of this one, they just want your money.

We enjoyed our time here very much! Our first time staying down near the dam and we loved it! Other then needing some lighting on the stairs from the dock to the house, it’s an awesome house! The dock and porches are fantastic!

Amazing views!!
This property had amazing views and space for three families! We stayed here memorial day weekend and had a fantastic time! Few maintenance items were needed with the door knob and boat hook, but overall fabulous place!

Incredible Home and well worth it
This property is AMAZING!!! The kitchen is stunning and updated, with absolutely beautiful views right off the kitchen on a massive deck fit for a crowd! Ashley was so helpful throughout the rental. The home was the perfect getaway on the lake, with a large dock, chairs, and water activities!!! We ended up tying up floats together and floating off the dock in the small cove and it was perfect. The only comment is that this house is very close to the neighbors on both sides. I cannot recommend this house enough and will absolutely be staying at a Wind Property again in the future!!!

BDV was a great house for our family getaway. Very clean, great view, great location. Would come again and recommend highly. Some of the pots and pans needed rewashing and the only fishing rod was broken. Those small issues were the only ones. This was one of the best VRBO properties we have stayed in!

Beautiful Home
You can't beat the views at this property. The house is well equipped, nicely decorated, and very spacious! We stayed Friday through Sunday with friends and our children (ages 4-7) and everyone had an amazing time. We wish we booked another day!

Perfect Week Away
The property and house were pretty much perfect! House is beautiful, everything was immaculately clean, rooms all decorated very nicely. Kitchen was big, beautiful and had everything we needed (and more!). Location perfect - truly the “best dam view!). Lots of fun at the dock. Only negative was the big leak in the floor/ceiling to basement that we were not aware of until we got there (large pot catching water in middle of hallway), BUT we understand stuff happens. We’d definitely stay again. Thank you!

Awesome getaway on the lake!
A+ experience. The house is lovely and well appointed with all needs. Slept our group of 9 wonderfully. We all enjoyed boating, waterskiing, etc. Rented a nice speedboat from Bridgewater Marina and Jet Skis from Lynchburg Powersports. House had paddle board, kayaks, canoe and paddle boat as well as life jackets and fishing gear. Kids played a lot of ping pong and hooked up their Xbox in the family room downstairs. Adults could have sat on the decks and stared at the view forever. We’ll be back!!

An incredible home which will accommodate a lot of people. We only had 6 people but all the kids had their own room and loved it. everything you could ask for and incredible location on the lake.
