Great pub with rooms & it allows dogs
The door lock to Squirrel room is really bad. The key didn’t work 9 times out of 10. This could be a problem in the case of a fire if the door is locked from the inside.
The toilet rim, under the seat was disgusting. Hadn’t been cleaned in a while.

The food in the bar was very, very good. If you take your dog, you have to eat in the bar (normal practice, so dog owners should expect this). On a Friday night, the bar can be quite noisy and busy, but that also means the place is popular so just go with the flow! The cooked-to-order breakfast in the morning is wonderful!! It's so much nicer to have a personal touch rather than a buffet breakfast which is invariably cold and overcooked.
I have mobility issues - the stairs to the bar area and then back to the bedrooms can be a challenge to those who are less mobile than others. I would like to know how they deal with wheelchair users. Maybe the solution would be to provide a dedicated easy access room?

We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we entered the Butterleigh inn.
Jo, the proprietor was extremely friendly as were the other bar staff.
Check in was quick and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal, comfortable room and fantastic breakfast. We highly recommend the amazing hospitality, the fantastic value for money and the friendliness of the other customers we met in the bar.

Good location in the countryside. Friendly staff and locals. Pub had good atmosphere with locals in the bar and restaurant. Bedroom was refurbished tastefully and very clean. Food in restaurant was amazing.
The pub is closed Monday. This meant we were offered toast and marmalade we could make ourselves or a bacon roll delivered to our room. This was a disappointment after the delicious full breakfast the day before.

The breakfast was the best I’ve had for years
The bed was too soft for me and was small

Friedly staff (and locals/fellow travellers). Excellent value for money.
Travelling around the immediate vicinity got better once you got used to the lanes.

Quite a remote location, quiet village which we liked. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of parking, easy access to rooms although with a couple of steps. Food was reasonable priced and very nice.
You have to go out side to get from the room to the bar which is a bit of a pain in the rain. Bar area is a bit tired and not the most comfortable to sit in.

Nice spacious room.
Nothing.

Lovely country pub, great evening meals and delicious breakfast. Dog friendly. Large free car park next to rooms. Lovely landlady, very helpful. Stayed here last year too on the way to Cornwall, and will stay again next year!
Nothing, all good!

We cannot complain about anything as the room was very clean and cumfy with plenty of coffee and lots of milk which is unusual so a great place to stay.
And as for the landlady well she was great and fun to chat with and in no hurry at all for the payment, infact she didn't take the payment till we were leaving after we had a great breakfast.
WE CANNOT FAULT THE PLACE AT ALL.
Leaving lol

What a little gem the Butterleigh Inn is. Lovely friendly owners with a sweetheart of a dog. Comfy beds, lovely spacious rooms, tea, coffees, tv and toiletries in the bathroom. Everything was clean and felt fresh, but still homely. Decent showers which is always a plus after spending a day out on farms! Breakfast was done really well (had a full English) and great portion size. The evening I stayed, the landlady and the young lady working behind the bar, made me feel extremely welcome and found me a table in the bar area despite it being extremely busy, and I ordered the burger which was yummy. I really appreciated this, as sometimes it can be daunting being so far from home and a single female travelling for work. The B&B rooms are to the rear of the building and have a separate entrance to the main pub which made it feel safe, more private and was easy to bring my bags in from the carpark.
I've no idea why so many B&Bs get it wrong (too OTT, or poor breakfast etc.), but this place has got it spot on - a great village pub, great beers/food, with lovely atmosphere, clean and comfy rooms, perfect brekkie and lovely down-to-earth owners. You can enjoy the evenings with company in the pub, yet the rooms still feel separate and private. Perfect price! Would definitely stay again if in the area!
Absolutely nothing! Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Would have liked yoghurt and fruit

We and our dog were made very welcome, the room was lovely, warm and cosy with plenty of tea/coffee supplies. It suited us perfectly for our overnight stay, with easy access to take our dog in and out. We had dinner in the bar - good standard pub classics available which was fine for our needs. My husband loved the local beers too.
Breakfast was excellent and kept us full all day!
Bar lady was very welcoming as were our hosts.

Douglas the dog.
I know it was cold outside but the room was freezing and even with two duvets I couldn’t sleep. Absolutely miserable night. Come the morning I heated the room with the hairdryer it was that bad.
Treacherous ice outside too.

Room clean, spacious and comfortable.
Fabulous breakfast.
nothing to dislike

Lovely and welcoming village pub. Simple and classic English Village Pub.
The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, the room was dated, tired and needed a thorough clean. Basic clean had been done but lots of cobwebs and dirt in nooks.

The pub was nice and friendly, food was good value for money and the choice of drinks was excellent.

the place is exactly as described, tucked away in a tiny village, quiet and peaceful

Location is very rural in a small village. I was kindly provided with full directions and I found it ok. Even though the pub is 'out of the way' it was quite busy and popular. Food was very good, both dinner and breakfast
