Great breakfasts and carvery, good value. Nice clean room and easy parking.
Good value at the bar and a great outdoor seating area

Loved the location the food was lovely the beer garden nice the room was small but ok for 1 night
The room seemed a little tired

It was ok also had to mention to senior staff the room was unacceptable. She offered a discount or change of room which was really nice but I was only staying for one night and I told her I was not complaining to have a refund but just to inform her the specific room wasn’t acceptable but I’d been before and had a much better room for the same price.
Just the bedroom.

Very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are all on one level, no stairs. Very clean. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Really like the decor. Good location , close to the motorway. Carvery and accommodation is excellent value for money.
No complaints.

Rooms were nice a clean but the corridor had a strange smell.
We arrived at 22.10 and were allocated a room that was already occupied. I was very embarrassed walking into a room to find a man sat on the bed!! Once we were given a new room we thought we have a quick drink in the bar, only to be told they had closed early because it was quiet. Even though the staff were still in the bar they refused to serve us!

Location is close to M5. Good rooms and facilities. Carvery is standard and there are other places to eat near by. Staff friendly and helpful.
Think it's a bit pricy compared to what you get for other locations.

Plenty of car parking. That's the only positive.
Where to begin. The whole place is outdated and doesn't look very inviting. When walking down the corridor to the room the whole place smelt of mould. Upon opening entering the room the locks were dodgy and the peep hole cover was missing so I had to stuff it with toilet paper. Ive never felt more unsafe in a hotel room. The beds were rock hard and the duvet was stained and smelt musty. The duvet was that bad I didn't use it and was cold all night as I had to keep the windows open to try and get rid of the smell. I couldn't use the bathroom had to use the toilet in the Toby Carvery as it just smelt like faeces. Outside the room also smelt like sweage whenever people flushed the toilet. Luckily the other guests weren't overly noisy as we could hear everything they did there was no sound proofing what so ever. When they walked past the room it sounded like they were in the room with you and the floor boards in the room were creaky so no doubt they heard us walking around.

2 star standard.
Obvious improvements would be:
1) include continental options in the breakfast
2) improve functionality of reception (to make a better first impression)
3) do something about the musty smell in the bathroom

Staff were friendly. Location and price was good.
Too much noise from banging doors between guests and staff. And I did ask for a quiet room.
The restaurant was disappointing.
3.8
Good size room and bed. tea/coffee making facilities ample
Floorboards were "creaky"

GOOD TO BE IN EASY REACH OF THE CARVARY
The whole building badly needs renovation - the smell was not good, the decor was tatty, the carpets stained and old, the bathroom, institutional, like a boarding house.

I asked for an accessible room due to mobility issues and was delighted with a ground floor room with wet room and plenty of space. In addition, while it was on the ground floor, it was very quiet. Breakfast was good although some items were a rehash of the carvery items.
The car park could be better lit. The bedside lights switches were rather hidden away.

Clean room
Miserable staff member at breakfast

Price, cleanliness, location.
The bathroom was a little smelly, I think it was the drain as the bathroom itself was very clean.

Clean, Compact room. Comfortable beds. Missed the evening meal but breakfast was good.

My sister and her husband stayed in room 203. On checkout, my sister told reception about multiple red spots on her skin (nape, arms, legs thorax). Typical of bedbug bites. I sent pictures and messages to the hotel but no reply. Now, my brother in law has the same spots all over his body. We have to contact a pest control company to inspect and possibly treat our house. My sister had to be absent from work and lost earnings due to this. Imagine the distress my family is going through.

Great place to stay at a very reasonable cost. The bed was large and comfortable and room had everything we needed. Good full english breakfast.
Would have liked a choice of cereals at breakfast.

The rooms seem to have been upgraded since my last visit and are absolutely fine.
The catering arrangements clearly based on large scale industrial catering from the 70's and have no place in 2023 and have actually got worse. Dinner was an interesting experience, the last time i queued to be fed was 40 years ago in the Military. Further highlighted by the fact that the Chef was unable to tell me what joint the beef was from, despite it being covered in some kind of congealed gravy. The cauliflower cheese had no cheese in it, there were no condiments left at 8pm. All the meat available on the carvery looked dry and unappetising. Only thing produced to any reasonable standard were the Y. puddings and roast potatoes. Absolutely nothing Sicilian about the lemon gunk served with the ice cream desert.
Breakfast was a delight. After surviving the interogation as to whether i was a guest? had i paid for breakfast? and what room number i was? [ twice] i was allowed to have a knife, fork and cup to use. At 0745am there was enough food on the hot plate to feed 50 people; clearly batch cooking is an alien concept. Y. puddings again?with gravy..!! Cold tinned chopped tomatoes; obviously hadn't been under the lights long enough. Fried eggs cooked to destruction. 3 staff members having a meeting while customers walked around looking for various items. The only non cooked offer available was sliced bread/toast and jam in a bowl.No cereal, fruit, yoghurt or any kind of healthy option. No teaspoons to stir coffee with, thats ok i used the handle of my knife. Disappointing, dark, dingy and depressing start to the day.
Good the see the practice of leaving dirty laundry for collection in the Reception Area remains in place; and the Security door to the accomodation remains broken.
Serious lack of Management presence and absence of any staff training.

the location
the place was a bit dated and the food wasn’t very good

The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The shower in the en suite was excellent - always a key aspect for me. The few staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good value too.
Noisy flooring, both in the corridors and the room itself. A common problem these days.

location
very uncomfortable and noisy due to a corridor door next to my room.
my duvet smelled also

cheap one night stay, massooffff bed which was very comfortable.
clean and warm, couldn’t ask for more.
our only criticism would be the bad designs of the door, light from hallway. definitely not a fire door.

Excellent location, bus to Exeter directly outside. Nice room, nice large car park. All our requests were met.

Exceptionally friendly staff. Room ready for checkin early. Stayed Christmas eve and whilst no breakfast available in the Toby restaurant, complementary breakfast rolls etc available .
In the actual hotel area there is a pervading unpleasant odour. It is a stale water smell but is constant.
