Charming, spacious but very dated home with a spectacular view. There was no off street parking for even 1 vehicle, let alone 2. We had to search for street parking many times. Very stuffy unless the few windows that could open were opened. No counter space in kitchen - counters occupied by microwave, toaster and coffee pot. Freezer had icicles; afraid to use 1970s stove. No dishwasher or even a dishrag to wash dishes. Dish towels were very sad and old. Not enough washcloths; plenty of towels. Strong stinky smell in kitchen like dirty pipes - both plumbing and electrical need uodating - electrical is probably not to current code. Despite the critic we enjoyed our stay in this very old home. It would probably rent for double the price if updated but charm was kept.

View was spectacular, and location served its purpose for us.
Amenities were scarce. We stayed 8 days and had one little soap/shampoo pods in each bathroom. I was glad I brought my own, absolutely ridiculous. House is very dated, and rugs downsatirs were filthy, not to mention the odor, especially in the middle bedroom.
Water pressure and hot water in master bedroom was lacking. The other bathroom was ok, but was very dark in the shower.
There was no dishwasher that we could find, so why list it?

The home is in a great location and the views are amazing. However the pics are deceiving. This is a very old home that needs some updating. There is no light in one of the showers and it is very dark. The bathroom lighting is not good in any of them. All of the bedrooms are downstairs and the beds were very comfortable. The carpets need cleaning and there was some sort of odor that we couldn’t put our fingers on. A few little extra touches could make this a great rental/home; for example the soaps and shampoos were powder. A hand soap for the bathroom sinks would be great so you could actually wash your hands. Access to extra towels/wash cloths. We were not able to access the quaint backyard that looked amazing as it was all locked up. We stayed here because of location, but I wouldn’t stay again due to the odor and age of the home. I’m not sure how safe it is because if it’s age. Wiring maybe a problem as one of the outlets was quite hot. I wasn’t sure the balcony would hold everyone as it was quite shaky with just 4 adults on it.

A delightfully charming and comfortable home. Great neighborhood, and the owners treated us to a bag of oranges picked from their tree that morning. Would recommend! Plenty of room for a family vacation. Kitchen was well equipped.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at this cute home. The view is spectacular, enjoyed seeing several ships go by like cruise ships and even a nuclear air craft carrier.
There were a few things we felt would improve the home. Some modern touches like a keurig coffee maker, better soap in the bathrooms (they provide powder soap), and small touches like sugar, more paper towels, dishwasher (property says there is a dishwasher, we couldn’t find it)….and little things you want when you’re staying there for a week+.
We were not bothered by no air conditioner since the weather in San Diego was perfect, however, that makes us look elsewhere to stay in the middle of July if we are to come back. We can’t handle the heat with no air conditioner.
It was also a bummer not being able to go down to the backyard.
Overall the house is clean, the view is outright amazing, the location is great, and the stay could be improved by just adding small touches we missed.
Thanks so much!

This house offers the best views in San Diego! Comfortable, older home in transitional neighborhood - trade off for views!

Went to celebrate a few friends birthdays. Def got an older vibe to it but it’s very cute and the patio is great. View is beautiful, makes it very worth it.

The view was ok but you couldn't go out on the porch from the downstairs bedroom.

This is a great house with many original features. The view is extraordinary!

House was lovely and clean, and the view of the bay was spectacular. Only complaints are that the check-out time is a bit early (10am). Downstairs bedrooms get rather cold at night. Otherwise, we had a great time.

The location was perfect for us since we were mostly staying around downtown, Coronado and the beaches. There is an amazing view of the bay including a beautiful sunrise each morning. Lots of room and Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. The house is unique with lots of character and potential. The dining room chairs are not very comfortable.
Property information said there is no heat so we brought space heaters but never had to use them since it felt warm inside. There is no dishwasher. The windows do not open so there is limited airflow downstairs in the bedrooms. Parking is a little misleading. You could probably fit 2 really small cars on the street in front of the house. We have a truck and were lucky to get the one spot in front of the house. When we arrived to checkin we had to park in front of the garage. The Kitchen doesn’t have a lot of counter space if planning on cooking. The stove is really old.

Everything thing about this home was awesome. Spacious rooms, well equipped, sweetly decorated. Very clean. The views were spectacular. I would rent again and highly recommend it.

Beautiful view! Close to the base and airport.

The view of the harbor from the big living room window and balcony is absolutely stunning. Spent most of our time looking at the views.

While the temperature was mostly fine - low 80’s no A/C and no ceiling fans would have been a real breaker had I noticed ahead of time. It did not occur to me in 2023 to have to watch out for that! Unpleasant to sleep at night. I found two fans in a storage room but we had 3 bedrooms. Beautiful view. Very vintage.

This is a charming home built in 1938 with much of its original charm - fixtures, cubbies, tiling, etc. I would give it a 3.5 but that is not an option and I am not only to overreact. However, the best part of the home is the balcony and living room which face the bay and were excellent for the 4th of July Big Bay Boom! As well, the text line for repairs was very prompt to a repair that needed fixing for safety on the stairs (<24 hours).
These are the items which keep the property from being all it could be.
- Though the listing mentions "thermostat" know that this is either opening or closing of the windows.
- Many windows cannot be opened and there is no screen on the back patio so the opportunity for cross-ventilation is limited.
- Much old carpeting throughout leaving a damp/musty smell.
- Less towels in the bathroom than occupants on the reservation.
- No access to the backyard.

Great views! Great location! Restaurants, San Diego Bay, Marina facilities and yachting all minutes away from this property.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. As many others have stated, the property has not been updated in decades. However, the beds and couch were comfy and the place was clean. The location was great for us...walking distance to a few restaurants, a quick drive to the airport, downtown, Coronado, and La Jolla.

The house is of older vintage and a little skimpy in the kitchen but the views made up for this!!!! The terrace overlooking the harbor was lovely! And good beds too!

This place could be lovely and unique but it needs some thoughtfulness and attention to pretty basic details. We love old houses with character and this place has it - it was clearly loved once and is a step back in time to elegant San Diego. And the view from the first floor windows and porch is stunning especially at sunrise. But there are several things that do not seem so hard to be addressed : to start there is NO washing machine (despite being a 3 bedroom house) apparently it is in the garbage which is locked. The small bedroom is so musty smelling we had to close the door and our daughter slept on our floor. And the bathroom off the big bedroom has an old slanting glass window that does not close so it was freezing - so we had to close the door and could not use it. The kitchen floor is carpeted and feels old and dirty (shoes are recommended) and the kitchen is very minimally equipped, with limited pots and utensils etc. and no basics such as salt and pepper and oil. The basement is white carpeted which is certainly warmer, but things like a cheap acrylic small carpet thrown over a stain - but it tripped us every time we walked on it, was easier to live with the stain ;). While most of the furniture is interesting and comfortable, the king bed frame seems to be a new cheap metal frame which squeaks every time you move at all on the bed. There are not two parking places (unless you want to park on the sidewalk) but there was no problem parking in front on the street. This place worked for us in terms of its location, and there are many charming parts about it, but it certainly needs some attention.

Great house! Pretty dated in a lot of ways, but suited our needs perfectly. Tons of space, very clean, absolutely gorgeous view, comfortable beds, working thermostat, easy access, plenty of street parking, and great location for us.
4.1
No heating system or portable heaters anywhere to keep house warm. It was freezing cold and the 1st night 3 people woke up with sore throat from cold. They said someone would come over to adjust thermostat in kitchen bit no one showed up.
It's an old beautiful home but without proper heating in the winter it is not as pleasant.

We had a great stay at La Playa Adobe, the rooms are big and the beds are really comfortable, bathroom had both tubs and working showers. The highlights are definitely the views from the balcony, living room and kitchen. It could be absolutely perfect if the house was a little updated and windows better cleaned. Overall will suggest to family and friends.

Great location and view, we expected the house to be old as it was built in 1934. However the condition and cleanliness was not adequate. Many windows did not open so poor air flow, Spider webs all over patio, Showers had very poor flow and barely any hot water. Trash cans were overflowing and sinky when we moved in. Mouse droppings in many cupboards. House was just sinky and a little scarry, white carpets downstairs were difficult, we took shows off but just looked dirty. The two king beds were nice the queen mattress was unusable, too hard.

Would recommend.

House was not clean. Yes, you read that right. They charged $827 in fees, but did not clean the house. They refused to at least refund some of the fees since we cleaned the house for them. Floors were not vacuumed, spiderwebs in several places, lots of dirt on window areas, and funky smell in house. And no TV remote. These all point to a bad job of property management.
House itself is in a fantastic location with an awesome view!! Neighborhood was quiet and safe, and located close to so many things to do.

Overall booking and check-in/check-out process was simple. Home was great and well maintained and in a great location.
4.1
Great views from the deck. Essentials were stocked well.
However, some of the minor details could use work - there are doorknobs that are loose or tight, bathroom doors that don't close, and shower heads that don't spray straight. The beds aren't the most comfortable - just okay. The garage was occupied (listing said it was free), but street parking is easy enough.
Overall a solid place that gets the job done.

If there is more than 1 car there is an issue with parking. The plumbing in the downstairs bathroom
I enjoyed the view and property.

The house was cute and like stepping into a time capsule. The view was gorgeous from the patio. The only cons is that there is no dishwasher or washer and dryer. It is in a perfect location though and lots nearby.
