Location was ideal for a quick walk to the beach. Many restaurants/bars and amenities a short walk away from the lodge. A block off of the main strip, provided us with a bit more privacy. Wifi worked well, as did the A/C unit. Free parking available.
The second night we stayed here, the manager invited us out for a drink at Banana Beach (I am a young, female traveller and so is my friend I was with), I said my friend and I would be interested and thought it would be a good way to connect with locals. I said we could meet him there. He replied to my message saying he only wanted me to go with him, alone. I was uncomfortable with this and did not go. He also sent me messages calling me “Linda” and heart-eyed emoji’s. After declining drinks with him, he suddenly became very loud, and seemingly agitated in the unit directly above us. Stomping around, blasting music, screaming at and hitting his dogs while yelling “PUTA”. The dogs were wailing :( At one point we were extremely concerned from our safety.
When we arrived the unit was absolutely filthy. There was a dead gecko on the counter, which had an inch of dust and grime. Dead bugs in the fridge. Dishes from the last guest were left in the drying rack with food muck on them. Poor kitchen supplies, no cloths, no oven mitts (which resulted in a horrendous burn) using the natural gas stove. The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet looked at though it had never been cleaned, feces all over the bowl, urine on the toilet seat. The manager had poured toilet bowl cleaner in the top of the tank in an attempt to “clean” the toilet, so every flush made blue water splash everywhere. Zero toilet paper provided. There was an inch of dust on the shower floor, feces on the shower curtain. No cold water some days, so you actually had to shower in 3 minutes or less or be scalded with hot water. The mattress was soft, riddled with cigarette burn holes upon inspection. A fitted sheet was on the bed, absolutely no top sheet was provided, even after two requests for same. The unit was filled with spiders and spider webs (I get it there are insects in a tropical place) but absolutely zero effort had gone into cleaning in what looked like a long time.
Would not recommend staying here!
