The warm welcome, the staff, the amazing food, the beautiful rooms. The connection with the coffee farm and the history of the house and the families who have lived in and developed it was fascinating.

Beautiful and comfortable old hacienda with much character. Our family spent much time enjoying the garden and grounds that have a lovely vegetable and herb garden, ornamental plants, some ancient native trees, and many birds.
Excellent coffee, excellent food, and wonderful service from the host and cook staff. The staff at the Hacienda accommodated our vegetarian dietary request for dinner, and I believe they went out of their way to buy additional local produce for our dinner.
We selected Hacienda La Esperanza in part for its affiliation with the Aquiares Coffee Farm, the largest coffee farm in Costa Rica. The Hacienda is on a ridge with views of the hillside coffee farm and quaint company town. The Aquiares Coffee Farm tour, booked separately, was informative and enjoyable. If you are interested in a unique experience, and particularly if you appreciate fine coffee, please visit Hacienda La Esperanza and take a tour at the farm: https://www.aquiares.com/

This was truly a unique experience in Costa Rica. We loved our stay here, start to finish. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the food was excellent! Our kids loved riding horses and relaxing in the hacienda with a good book. The grounds were stunning and we had a direct view of the volcano. The farm is so close to many activities and adventures, we can't recommend this place enough. We will be back!!
The room with the three beds was beautifully decorated and comfortable but could have used a window to the outside. But that is just personal preference.

Several areas to relax around the house and the fabulous gardens
Wonderful staff
Interesting tour around the coffee estate and mill
Needed a little TLC in places - for example, lock on the separate private bathroom door needed fixing

Arrived late in day in the rain so not a great impression. Breakfast in the morning in the sun gave us the sense we were looking for

Beautiful old building, well maintained and transformed to host a small number of guests. The garden and the view from it are amazing (Turialba volcano, village of Aquiares, valley). The host and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is authentic, delicious and freshly prepared, and it was served in the garden. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and clean.
It's an old house and due to that not soundproof. During our stay, it was very quiet in the house. So it was not a problem for us.

A beautiful, traditional house in the middle of the Aquiares coffee plantation. A relaxing place to stay with beautiful gardens, wonderful staff and easy access to the nearby activities -including the coffee tour which was great!

Size, and excellent bathroom. Awesome staff.
Internal windows (i.e. There were windows but not outside), and few power outlets.

Places like this are very rare. Super friendly and welcoming people which will take care of you same way your grandmother did plus they produce probably one of the best coffee in the world. You will be staying in one of the rooms of an old and beautifully equipped house with large garden where coffee is served. It is a hidden gem.
Really there is nothing...one can say there should be more choices of food (you get one dinner option) or some rooms have old windows - but that all is part of the charm and the food was delicious.

It is an incredible experience to stay in the coffee farm. The house is quite old, but very nice and well maintained. The garden is expectacular and you can see a lot of birds and active volcano! The real surprise here was all the staff. We had never experienced so much care. Just before arrival we both got sick and they were really taking care of us, not only preparing special food and teas, but also adjusting the trips.
The only thing is that in such beatiful place you can still listen some noises from the roads and a siren that indicates the working time for Plantation and manufacture employees. Anyway this is just a really small inconvenience comparing to what you can experience.

The setting was in the hills on the old farm house with history. Owner of the coffee plantation stay there so that say it all.
Lidieth the cook of 30 years is better than my mom and that say a lot, Katherin and Wilman are super host who have a love for the life they live and the Aquiares corporation who is the back bone of the community.

very homely, personal and quite
when we purchased coffee, immediately seemed to overcharge, I said I know we are tourists but please don't take advantage. dropped price by about 40% straight away. This annoyed me after what was a very pleasant stay.

One of the best places we’ve been to: a beautiful, very clean and in perfect state historical house placed in a dream garden! The best part is yet to come: the people and their hospitality! Absolutely outstanding kindness, attention, always going the extra mile! No words to thank them enough: for the tour of the coffee facilities, the garden and fantastic plants there (that we could also try), the fantastic food (do take dinner there, it’s really great), coffee like I never tasted before and help when we got a flat tire!! If available, book this place, it’s an amazing experience!
