With all three right in front of you, you will feel that this is the place for you. The Frisky Fish Cottage sits on a small cove close to the water with a shoreline of roughly 125 feet. Internal and external views of the outside blend into each other; choose the panorama either from the comfort of the sofa or from adirondack chairs outside by the fire pit. From every window or from the unbounded ‘window,’ the view from the sea predominates. When you lay down for a nap, you may see a receded waterline with fishermen driving by in their trucks; when you wake up, you may hear the lapping waters of the incoming tide and watch those same fishermen riding out on their boats.
The cottage is small enough to charm but not large enough to overwhelm with its one and half stories. From the loft, look out over the welcoming living room with its cathedral-like ceilings. The open concept design allows the sunlight to dazzle you from the wide windows that overlook the water. The kitchen and a breakfast bar are tucked in a corner - hidden away to be useful but not to intrude on the main grandeur. Or turn to the tastefully decorated loft bedroom with its attached half-bath. A downstairs bedroom and a full bath (with laundry facilities) complete the accommodations.

This cute little cottage was perfect for my sister and I to get away and relax. Watching the tide go in and out and the fishing boats in the distance. Fresh lobster is right up the street and Helen’s Restaurant is not too far either.
The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked Wish we could have stayed a little longer.

We enjoyed our stay at Frisky Fish cottage. The reviews sold me on the house and it's nice to report here that the positive reviews are 100% accurate. The house is special because of its location and unique layout. Kudos to Lynn. She knows how to manage properties! The place was spotless when we arrived. The beds are super comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. The place is ideal for a couple seeking a get-away along the Bold Coast. You won't find anything better so jump at the opportunity to rent if you see dates that work for you.

This is an adorable and well kept cottage right on the water with beautiful views at all times. There is a sheep farm across the street, which added to the charming setting. Inside, the beds were very comfortable, so we all slept well. I cooked dinners at the cottage every night, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location was convenient for taking day trips to Campobello, Lubec, Eastport, and we even went to St Andrews one day. There are so many beautiful places to explore nearby. We had a fantastic trip, but wish I had booked it for longer than a week. We are from South Carolina, and it was so nice to escape the Southern heat!

The location of the property is awesome. We loved watching the tidal changes and the fishermen at work. The home was comfortable and everything as promised. The only complaint is that there is no path to the entry and the steps for both doors are difficult to navigate. I have a bad knee and walking on wet uneven ground to the doorway and up steps with no or one railing was difficult. Great place but not very disability accessible. We still really enjoyed our stay.

We loved the location. The ocean on 3 sides is phenomenal. The harbor the activity - all awesome. There were a few things we were missing. No soap. No washcloths. The spoons don’t fit in a regular person’s mouth. The locking mechanism on the back door is challenging. We had to lock the door from the outside and come back in the front door. Would we go back? Absolutely! You have a slice of peace and relaxation that just needs a few extra items. Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Our stay at the Frisky Fish Cottage was fabulous! The cottage was spotless and well stocked. We loved watching the fishermen and bought lobsters from one of them. We spent time as kids in this area and found people so friendly, just as we remembered. A great spot!!

Great location a little difficult to find but it was amazing very clean fully stocked with everything we needed. We also enjoyed the viewing and the lobster men. We got to eat fresh lobster. Every one was so friendly. We were amazed by high and low tides. We enjoyed ourselves fishing and seeing the farm animals.It was just amazing!!

Such a privilege to stay at this wonderful home. The host was great; very communicative and the home was super clean. Each morning I watched the tide slide back into the ocean as I watched the local ships take off for work. I was honored to share my morning coffee with a bald eagle and two turkey vultures. The views of the forest with the mist will be with me forever. This was the perfect place for solitude. A must stay!

Just what we needed for our family trip. A great place to rest after our days exploring the coast. We enjoyed watching the birds and the water come in/go out throughout the day. Loved getting lobster just down the street, couldn’t get any fresher.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Frisky Cottage! The house was so comfortable and clean. We didn’t have the greatest weather but we found plenty to do close by and just sitting in the cottage and watching the boats was relaxing. We even had a Bald Eagle land out front!

Idyllic place but Uncomfortable at Night
This place is beautiful! Right on the water and you can see lobster fisherman going to set their traps. The entire water view though is changed to basically a field of mud behind the house with low tide. The two issues we had were the heat and the bugs. On a cool night with the windows open it’s a dream! But other than one ceiling fan, there is no way to cool down! The heat in the loft makes sleeping very difficult. To add, we found cielings in various rooms to be covered with small flies (I grew up calling them noseeums). I told the property manager but she was unfazed. As a born and raised New Englander who has dealt with these types of bugs, this even grossed me out. All in all, loved the location and the house itself but left with some hot, sleepless nights covered in bug bites.

We loved staying at the Frisky Fish. Just perfect for our little getaway!
The cottage was super clean and very comfortable. We saw osprey and even an eagle! It was fun to watch the local fishermen come and go and an evening campfire on our last night was perfect! Thanks! We hope to return!

Delightful getaway
We stayed 3 nights at Frisky Fish cottage- the property is even better in person than the pictures! We were three adults and a toddler and this was the perfect sized home for us. With high ceilings and plenty of windows it is bright and airy. The house has everything you could need on a trip away- right down to binoculars and a telescope to enjoy the night sky. The kitchen and pantry was well stocked too. Check-in and check-out was smooth and Lydia was very prompt to address any questions we had before booking and after our stay. Definitely recommended for a trip to Downeast Maine!

I have stayed in many VRBOs and this is one of the best! Everything was perfect-laundry detergent, BBQ grill, fire pit, all kitchen appliances and utensils. Beds very comfortable. We bought fresh lobsters from one of the men who have boats near the cottage!

Perfect peaceful getaway
The Frisky Fish cottage not only met our expectations, due to online description and pics, but it exceeded them!! We are an older couple and travel with our Greyhound. This wonderful cottage provided an excellent escape and a great experience with the changing tides, the proximity to the fishing community, and everything we could have wished for in terms of comfort, great ambiance, and well equipped kitchen. We hope to return, and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone contemplating a trip to Downeast Maine!!

Cozy, Cute and Clean!
We loved our stay in this cozy cottage. It was windy and icy outside (Nov.) but we were so comfortable. Our host's attention to detail was very much appreciated ... from the binoculars on the window sill to welcoming treats for us, as well as our dog, and fun furnishings. We like to cook when we travel and enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen. Hannaford Supermarket was convenient and well-stocked too! The harbor view and activity was fascinating. We hope to stay here again!

This little cottage is perfect for relaxing in, watching the tides, and seeing the beautiful coast of Maine. Got some fresh lobsters just down the road and cooked them up. Delicious! Everything was clean and neat, a nice size lobster pot made our dinner easy. Grocery store is only about a ten minute drive into town, and make sure to have dinner at Helen's and The Bluebird Inn in Machias. A fantastic property and a wonderful experience with everything.The most restful vacation I had in a long time.

Maine sightseeing
This little cottage is perfect for relaxing in, watching the tides, and seeing the beautiful coast of Maine. Got some fresh lobsters just down the road and cooked them up. Delicious! Everything was clean and neat, a nice size lobster pot made our dinner easy. Grocery store is only about a ten minute drive into town, and make sure to have dinner at Helen's and The Bluebird Inn in Machias. A fantastic property and a wonderful experience with everything.

Relaxing at Frisky Fish Cottage
Frisky Cottage was the perfect place for our getaway. The cottage is lovely and Maria thoughtfully left 2 delicious scones for our arrival. Our king bed was very comfortable and the windows afford a gorgeous view of the working harbor. The cottage is well appointed with all the necessities and was exceptionally clean. Linens and towels were plentiful and of good quality. The cottage is decorated tastefully, but not fussy. We were very comfortable. It felt like home. We didn't cook much, other than grilling one night and our breakfasts, but the kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots, pans, and dishes if you do! There is a fire pit and it was set up so we only had to set a match. We enjoyed sitting out there one evening. One bonus of this property is the bunkhouse. It is super cute and the perfect place for kids to hang out when they are not exploring the beach. Oh heck, grownups would love it too!

A Treasure to be Cherished
Nothing but accolades for this charming, well- appointed, cottage (and bunkhouse) in a fascinating setting. The imagination, thoroughness, and generosity of the owners for providing for guests visit exceeded all expectations. Decor was fun, while being practical, comfortable, and visually appealing. Amazingly well stocked kitchen for any and all cooking; even birthday candles should the need arise. Comfortable beds, lovely linens, games and fun for everyone of all ages...also bubbles, adult coloring books, turn table and records, on and on...even a folder with lists for scavenger hunts complete with bags (with list and pictures of items attached) for each player in which to collect the goodies as they are found...really nearly impossible to list everything. Working harbor and tidal changes also part of the "entertainment". The care of the owners shines bright at Frisky Fish...great communication and thorough thought to help guests be comfortable and be right at home while staying there. I loved it!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at Frisky Fish Cottage -- the house was very clean, thoughtfully equipped, and comfortable. The owner was very helpful, and responded quickly to our questions. The location was perfect -- right on the water, with lots to look at as lobstermen came and went throughout the day. We had a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable time!

Summer Vacation 2019
We had a great family vacation at the Frisky Fish Cottage, adorable! We enjoyed the outside bbq and fire pit, a great way to unwind after a full day of sightseeing. Kitchen was completely stocked with everything we needed and more. Everyone had a great night's sleep every night. Our only suggestion is to improve the seating in the living room. We are a family of four and love to watch movies together after a long day and just wasn't as comfortable as we would have liked. We made it work and that one imperfection will not keep us away in the future! Recommend Helen's Restaurant, crab egg benedict was fabulous. As well as Sunrise Canoe and Kayaking, Mike was simply the BEST guide! Highlight of our trip!

Quiet retreat
We loved our stay. Maria was wonderful to work with and so thoughtful in her recommendations and correspondence. The cottage was perfectly situated to all of the places we wanted to visit as well as being comfortable and well appointed. Would definitely stay again. We hope to be back some time soon.

Frisky Fish Cottage is a gem!
We loved the time we spent at the cottage. If you’re looking for somewhere just off the beaten path, this is your place. It was fascinating watching the tide come in and out and watching the lobstermen at work. There’s lots of beautiful scenery and short day trips to keep you occupied. All of the people we met were so friendly. Don’t miss a trip to the Maine Sea Salt company. It’s a great mom and pop business, and the owner is more than happy to give you a tour and explain how they harvest salt. We visited Jasper beach twice and only saw two people there. The sounds of the water hitting the rock beach was not like anything I’d heard before—so relaxing.
The cottage was well appointed and there’s a nice grocery store in Machias, along with several dollar stores and a Walgreens where you can pick up anything you may need. Don’t forget to eat at Helen’s Restaurant at least once. If you don’t have room for a slice of pie afterwards, take it to go. Much like your stay at the Frisky Fish cottage, you won’t be disappointed!
