About this house rental
A spacious one bedroom garden apartment on a quiet street within walking distance to everything-- cultural centers, such as Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Barclay Arena, and others, Prospect Park and Fort Greene Park, renowned restaurants, and the second largest subway hub in NYC. The apartment occupies the garden level of my home—a townhouse that dates from 1870— with original fireplace details and moldings. It has recently been renovated with top grade appliances and bathroom fixtures. New washer and dryer is accessible in the basement, one flight below. Although the street is generally quiet, new, sound-proofed windows were installed in the front of the house. The lush, sun-filled garden in the back is available for part-time use by the renters. Central AC, with the renter's separate thermostat. Please note, only inquiries for a minimum of one month stay.

Our stay at this Vrbo was nothing short of exceptional. The host went above and beyond to ensure our questions were answered promptly and thoroughly, making the booking process a breeze. Upon arrival, we were blown away by how the house exceeded the expectations set by the photos. The space was beautifully furnished, incredibly clean, and the amenities were top-notch. We can't recommend this Vrbo enough and will absolutely be booking with this host again in the future!

the neighbourhood is very convenient, very close to the subway station that can get you around very easily. there are also a lot of cute cafes, restaurants, and yoga studios nearby.
eileen is an amazing host! she gave me such good recommendations for some neighbourhood restaurants and bar finds, and shared the history of the building with me!

This was the perfect spot for me for a 2 month stay in Brooklyn. I booked the apartment mostly for the kitchen, which I needed for work. It had everything I needed and the space to do it in, which is what I needed. Beyond that, I enjoyed the ample space, quirkiness, huge location convenience, and making friends with Eileen.
The construction outside is tolerable. The windows really do make a huge, huge difference. I was rarely bothered despite the skyscraper being built. It’s got a lot of NYC brownstone quirks (thin ceilings/floors, steep stairs to the laundry)—but that’s what you get in New York and it’s also what makes New York special.
Would certainly stay again.

This garden apartment in Brooklyn was ideal for our several month stay to help out with a new grandson. Location-a couple of blocks from major subway lines, Whole Foods, target, cvs and an Apple Store-epitomizes the magic of walkable Brooklyn. Eileen, who lives upstairs, is everything one could want in a landlady and the apartment has all the amenities. Back garden provides light during the day and pleasant outdoor sitting space. Laundry is down some stairs but handrail makes the ascent and descent manageable. No complaints. Only superlatives.

We stayed for 4 months and absolutely loved our time here!! The location couldn’t be more convenient and despite being just steps from busy Flatbush when you’re inside it truly feels like you’re in a peaceful oasis. The decor is great and feels the kitchen is very well stocked. During the warmer months we loved eating in the garden. We ended up signing a longer lease just blocks away and Eileen’s place was the perfect taste of Brooklyn living. Eileen is a great host- incredibly friendly and communicative and respectful of our privacy while being generous with inviting us into her space for drinks and meals throughout the stay.

Everything about this apartment was great: location, transportation, brownstone building and interior layout, conveniences, garden and host. Tucked a few buildings down from a busy intersection this lovely classic brownstone sits on a quiet residential street. It's not silent, for there are the urban sounds of construction heard during workdays and occasional siren, but that's part of the rhythm of a city. In contrast, our quiet residential street at home has the annoying and frequent sound of gas powered lawnmowers and leaf blowers regularly disrupting the peace. It ain't the country.
The access to public transportation is outstanding. A five minute walk to a subway hub that easily connects you to Brooklyn, Manhattan and other boroughs. We never had to transfer going to Manhattan. We jogged to Brooklyn Bridge Park and Fort Greene Park, walked to Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Prospect Park. There are great bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, bagels, restaurants from fine cuisine to fast food, stores (Whole Foods a 3-4 minute walk.), and others all within walking distance.
I drove to NY experienced in the challenges of parking and traffic in the city. In most cases a car is unnecessary and more hassle than convenience. When I did need the car, I sometimes found a parking space within minutes a few blocks away, but at worst prowled the streets for 40 minutes until ultimately found a space a half mile away.
The brownstone is an well maintained example of these classic historic homes. The apartment is well designed, well provisioned, very clean, secure and easy to settle into as your home during your stay. The backyard garden was a special treat for us. We ate breakfast in the shade listening to singing birds and dinners when we cooked and stayed in. It added an addition dimension of pleasure to our stay.
The host is terrific. She always responded to our inquiries expediently, was friendly and warm to talk with, provided excellent recommendations and left us to enjoy the apartment as our own.
As readers might gather, we loved our stay on State Street in Brooklyn.

Amazing Stay in Brooklyn
My husband and I had a great stay at Eileen's property in Brooklyn. We were there for an entire month working remotely and getting to enjoy NYC. The location has everything you need, it's near the busy Flatbush Ave with easy access to the Atlantic Terminal which can get you anywhere in NYC, but removed enough so that you don't hear the traffic and still have a nice neighborhood feel with classic NYC brownstones. Just a few minutes out the door to cafes, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, bookshops, anything you need. Neighborhoods like Park Slope, Cobble Hill, and Fort Green are just a short walk. The apartment is spacious with all the amenities, great water pressure in the shower, and the kitchen opens up to a lovely garden patio. Eileen was the perfect host, going above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

Garden oasis in downtown Brooklyn
Eileen is an excellent host. She was always available and responded to my texts immediately. The apartment is wonderful with the dining room looking out on a pretty terraced garden. The pictures are accurate. The kitchen is well-supplied, water pressure in the nicely-tiled bathroom is great and the bed is comfortable. I appreciated the European style duvet that was warm on even cold nights. There is plenty of room for two people.
The only downside is noise from two sources. A huge construction site is right outside the front door. While one can hear it in the garden sometimes, it is not a problem in the apartment because the windows do a very good job of blocking the noise. The second source of noise cannot be blocked (except with noise-cancelling headphones, which are very effective). As in many brownstones, the space between the ceiling and the floor above is very thin and one therefore hears whenever someone walks or speaks upstairs. I mention this because guests should know that they will have noise from the neighbors upstairs to contend with. However I hasten to add that this one drawback is outweighed by the beauty of the sun streaming in through the windows from the garden and the very comfortable and well-appointed living space.
Thank you Eileen for a very pleasant stay.

Perfect in everyway
The garden level apartment is full of light and located in a beautiful brownstone. It is 2 blocks away from a major subway hub. Living at Eileen's for a month, we felt part of the lovely neighborhood------able to stroll easily to anything we needed. Eileen is the best host you could hope for.

Terrific stay in heart of Brooklyn
I had the best stay at Eileen's apartment and couldn't have been happier. The apartment is tastefully decorated and has all amenities that you need. Laundry in building and a well-kept garden are great luxuries for New York City! Eileen is very kind and warm and went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. The apartment is conveniently located near the Atlantic Terminal transit hub, Trader Joes, Target, and Whole Foods, as well as great restaurants. Highly recommend!
