About this house rental
Located in downtown Vista, this 1950's 2 bedroom 1 bath house is the perfect Home Away From Home. It has a warm cabin feel with some modern updates. There is a large outdoor area for grilling and relaxing. It is private and quiet but also close to lots of shopping, theaters, restaurants, breweries (all walking distance), and only 7 miles from the beach.
This is not a full time vacation rental and is not "IKEA" in its design and decor. This is our winter home but during the rest of the year, when we go back to New York to work, we rent this house to others. We remove our "personal" items so you won't feel like it is anything but your space. It is older and funky and has a great feel and vibe. It is 850 s.f. of cozy cottage/cabin. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. There is space for 3 cars to park (carport and driveway). The patio or porch is a great place to enjoy the garden and view.

The house was very comfortable. The weather was extremely hot while we were there and Vista lost power 5 days in a row…but this house never lost power. The only negative for me was the laundry being outside was too hard to use…especially the dryer. So I ended up doing laundry somewhere else…so that was inconvenient

The property is very nice, has mentioned by the owners. It is not just some VBRO rental. It is their actual home six months of the year, it’s extremely well appointed throughout the house and very comfortable. The outside back deck is wonderful for coffee and dinner and cocktails at night, owners show great pride in their landscaping, and overall condition of the house. A very pleasant stay would certainly consider staying here again if we come back this way.

We liked that we could approach the home from several directions. As we no longer are capable of walking long distances, we appreciated that banks, stores, restaurants were in close driving distances (less than 5mins). There are new restaurants in Vista, CA and we explored many. The home is spacious and well maintained...I liked the owners phrase - "this is not an Ikea home." It is a very comfortable home with full kitchen. We enjoyed our visit.

Great little place. Beautiful yard. Super comfortable. Pretty close to lots of great scenic places. Could use some new bed pillows but overall a fantastic stay. 😊

Pros: The garden is stunning and the patio is a perfect place to relax.
Cons: 1) Although there are shops nearby, there is no sidewalk for the first couple of blocks and the road is narrow and cars go fast. We did not feel comfortable walking. 2) There is a commuter train that goes by every 30 minutes between about 4:00 am and 9:00 pm and blows its horn. Distance from house is about 3 houses/lots away. 3) The main living area of the house has a slightly musty smell.

I have stayed in a lot of rental properties because I like to explore new towns and this one of my favorites. The house had everything you need and more! The kitchen was well stocked and the ice maker was ready for use. It had plenty of linens and even travel sized items in case you forgot to bring something. The house had books, games, card games and DVD movies in case you got bored. The house had AC that worked really well. The bed was firm, yet comfortable and the bedroom had plenty of dressers for storage. The owner had everything clearly marked, so I never had any questions. The only downside is I wish I could have stayed longer!

Adorable cottage in the heart of Vista. Lovely backyard with a gas grill and a covered porch where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to cook (if you like). Very close to lots of restaurants , shopping and beach. Carol was very responsive to all our questions. Would recommend her place.
