About this house rental
This home sits on a high point of Beals Island, Maine, facing west, which makes it ideal for viewing sunsets. It is an early-1900s, classic coastal village home that was completely renovated in 2020. The deck off the kitchen and dining space is sun-soaked all afternoon, and it serves as a protected, warm place from which to the watch the sun set. The home also overlooks a fisherman's wharf, a cove and Wohoa Bay beyond. On cool nights, you can cozy up around the wood stove on the deck and stargaze.
The large, open kitchen and dining space was designed for entertaining and enjoying fresh, home-cooked meals, like lobster bought straight off the wharf. Upstairs, you'll find 2 comfortable bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed. The bathroom is newly renovated and luxurious.
Beals Island is conveniently located between the town of Jonesport, which hosts a spectacular 4th of July parade, and Great Wass Preserve Island. The preserve offers a 1.5-mile hike, which brings you to an expansive, rocky ocean coast. You'll see nothing but wildlife and ocean for miles. You also have the option of enjoying strolls on Beals Island, which features rocky bluffs, active fishing wharfs and wooded trails.
Plus, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, Machias, Lubec, Eastport, Grand Manan Island and even Nova Scotia are all within driving distance!

The house was exactly as listed. We had a wonderful week. We enjoyed visiting Machias, Eastport, Jasper Beach and Roque Bluff State Park.

The property was exactly as described, exceptionally clean and a perfect location to visit local trails, Downeast Research Institute, Sandy River Beach and suggested restaurants. We appreciated the owner's hospitality and time he spent sharing the history of The Pink House. The deck was a big plus for us to enjoy grilling, eating outdoors and our grandkids used the deck as an outdoor play area. Definitely recommend for a relaxing vacation.

We languished on the deck and listened to the birds.

We enjoyed our visit to Beals Island. The house was very clean and comfortable. We hiked Great Wass Island trail which was beautiful and a little challenging on the coast section. We also hiked a great trail walking distance from house. Be sure to stop at grocery store before getting to house as there are no services close by.

This house was as described. Appreciated the cleanliness and location.

Our family enjoyed this place especially the lobster and clam boil. We were visiting family in the area and this was a perfect setup for entertaining. Would definitely stay here again. Had one problem with the heat but Scott got it fixed asap.

Our stay at the Pink Sunset house did not disappoint! We thoroughly enjoyed the quietness of the island, the smell of the ocean and watching the lobster boats motoring in and out to sea. The local people are extremely friendly and Jonesport beach is a true gem. If you like photography, this part of the Bold Coast cannot be missed! Oh, and the local food is amazing of course!

We loved the views and sunsets. The location is good for short hikes and siteseeing.
Our experience was very easy and communication was great.

Amazing
Beautiful deck, amazing .75 mile hike close by. Outstanding cleanliness, I will be back again and again! Also, this location is great for Cobscook Bay area.

We had a wonderful time exploring the area and this house on the harbor was a sweet home base. “Old” New England charm with updates and the deck with wood stove made this a unique and cozy getaway. Grocery store in Jonesport was good for supplies, and found some good restaurants in Machias. Spent our time hiking the Cobscook and other local trails and watching the fishing boats and sunset from the deck. Had a sweet family of deer visiting regularly as well.

the cottage was quiet and looked out over the bay, just what us gals needed for a relaxing weekend, had everything - heat was nice, netflix, extra towels, supplies in kitchen - loved it all!

Beals Maine is a lovely island with sunset views, nature preserves, and hikes. The location of the house is good, near a new hiking trail on Seaduck road. Jonesport and Beals also have sand beaches. We enjoyed the lack of tourists, but be warned there are no services in Beals and just a few in Jonesport as of August 2021. This home is older with some renovation. The kitchen is bright and the deck has a sea view. The kitchen is set up for cooking. The rest of the rooms and furniture are older and worn. The bathroom sink is cracked. The windows lack blinds or shades so there is no privacy in the bedroom or other rooms. A new house is being built across the street, so that will be an issue. A streetlight shines into the bedroom. There isn’t much information in the house so we had to email the owner to figure out the trash, but he was responsive. The lobster cooperative just across the bridge in Jonesport has great lobster.

The bathroom sink was broken and the owner broke it himself and didn't tell anyone, he did not bother to fix it. It was the only bathroom. The property was very remote and no place to eat in the town or buy groceries. 1-1/2 hours to Bar Harbor and Arcadia. Really explore the area around Arcadia because there are many options that are difficult to find on line.

The house met or exceeded our expectations. The deck was awesome and a good supply of wood was available for the wood stove.

We had a great stay. The view of the bay islands is great with lobsyer boats coming and going. The wood stove made the back deck a great place to sit on a foggy night. There is a short hike right up the street that leads to a rocky beach where you can watch the lobsterman pull traps in the mornings. There's not a lot of restaurants or anything really close but it seems like an hour ride to get somewhere is just part of visiting downeast Maine. I would definitely return for a relaxing get away.

This property is aptly named "Pink Sunset House" - the sunsets were magnificent. We enjoyed having a fire in the wood stove on the deck while watching the sun set over the ocean. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our month-long stay.

Scott's property is on Beal's Island & has a lovely view of the water, but note that this is a fairly remote location for those not familiar with the northern coast of Maine. The house has had some remodeling done and has nice amenities (new windows, full kitchen, plenty of hand & laundry soap & paper products) but there are no window coverings and the laundry is in the basement which has not been finished and had some standing water.
There is also, peculiarly, a truck topper dump of some sort just across the road from the front of the house. Depends on the person whether one believes it or adds to the charm and eccentricity of the locale, or not. We really didn't mind.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. It was clean, quiet, met most of our needs and the townspeople were amazing (we stayed the week that was the run-up to July 4th.)
Other than being a little lagging at getting us the check-in info, Scott was adequately responsive.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. take time to stop by Wild Blueberry Land. What a cool & unexpected treasure in the area!

We loved the house, it’s character and decor! Everything we needed during our stay in the house was provided and the deck with its sunset view is a great asset. Scott was really easy to communicate with. We particularly enjoyed the town park with its wooded trails and beach which we explored extensively. We also loved takeout from Retta‘s in Jonesport. The haddock burgers were fantastic! If you want to get away from the hustle and buzzle, this is a great place to be.

Classic Maine home with a comfortable mix of old and new. Deer walked by every morning. Lobster boats chugged out of the harbor. Gorgeous sunsets. Perfect location to explore the area beaches, museums, and gardens.

Very clean and up to date! Lovely colors and comfortable place to stay. It seemed to be a 1920's home that had been updated. Very nice color paint on the walls and white woodwork, rugs etc. Kitchen had been updated and was well stocked with amenities. And bathroom was also updated and very nice. There was a back deck that looked onto the bay. We would stay here again.
