The location and the common parts of the building were very nice. The bathroom was good and the toiletries were also very good. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant.
WE paid over £300 for a room and so expected it to be as described: "EPIC". In fact the ceilings were very low, the air con was wholly inadequate and the windows did not open. This meant that our room was stuffy and oppressive. It's on the second floor with sash windows, I understand there may be safety reasons why they won't let you open the windows fully, but they could be opened a bit, or they could ensure that the air con worked properly. The rug was frayed and dangerous, we tripped over it a number of times. The paintwork was a bit tired in places and overall it would have been fine if it had cost £150, but at £300 it was just a complete rip off. No room service. The cocktails we had in the bar on a Friday night were so awful we sent the mojito back - they make them with cheap pre-mixed stuff and not fresh ingredients, which for £11 a go is another rip off. The mojito tasted like paintstripper and the coconut daiquiri had no discernible coconut and just tasted like super sweet pineapple squash. Nice bar, but stick to beer and wine.

The hotel decor is excellent having undergone a really tasteful restoration. The room was fabulous. Huge, comfortable, well-equipped, and impeccably clean. Thanks to the great cleaning staff! The staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good. As was dinner. Excellent car parking facilities, and a secure place to lock away my bike.
There was absolutely nothing to not like

Great place to stay, comfortable and a lovely breakfast

Character of the hotel. Part pub/part hotel. Very friendly and efficient staff. Attention to detail for a hotel of this price eg fresh milk in fridge. Continental Breakfast was good quality and value.
Not much. Food was pub like in quality.

Location, decoration, very clean, friendly staff
Room was very stuffy, difficult to have window open as properties opposite.

Beautiful hotel with really nice communal areas. Free parking was a bonus!
Our hotel room was really tiny!
4.5
Not a lot.
We requested a quiet room, then hotels kitchen exhaust blasted outside our bedroom window from 6.30 am to 10.15 pm every day. Our room was so hot you could hardly breathe. When you had a continental breakfast you got no butter or preserves, you needed to pay extra for tea or coffee and no toast just a chocolate croissant for breakfast!!

The decor is beautiful and v atmospheric. amazing bar area and dining room.
thought it was expensive for quite a small room and breakfast wasn’t included. hot day and window wouldn’t stay open, manager provided us with excellent fan and wedged the window open but for a luxurious hotel this should have been fixed

Rooms were hot

Central location. really nice room (“epic room”), was a bit more than I would have spent but it was last minute urgent trip and only room available, but a beautiful space, comfortable, clean, nice extras (tea pigs tea, nespresso, little bottle of fresh milk in the fridge)…
a little bit of noise from the corridor and surrounding rooms, but not too bad. the only negative really.

The bar was spacious and the service excellent. The ensuite bathroom was clean and comfortable with an excellent shower.
Bedroom was very small - hard to squeeze around the bed.

my room had shutters which let a lot of light in and I found it difficult to sleep. also I over looked the courtyard which was noisy in the evenings when kept me up.

Superb hotel - rooms well equipped, staff professional, friendly and helpful, and the location in central Dorchester was excellent.
can’t think of anything

We have stayed in hotels that say they are dog friendly, but our dogs were treated as guests, not just tolerated. The welcome boxes for the dogs were an amazing touch
The location of our room above a service area meant that it was noisy late at night with staff closing and emptying glass bottles into bins and early in the morning we were disturbed by staff smoking outside and taking delivery’s

Very good food, beautifully presented. One of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. Attention to detail was inspiring. Felt like a slice of luxury. Lovely breakfast too. All the team were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
The mattress was a bit firm but it was still a comfortable stay.

great location, great staff, good food
room was extremely hot. The bar pub area was also extremely hot with a fire and heaters going at the same time. when asked if they could turn down the heat the staff said no the owners like it that way. I guess forget what the customer wants.
my room was above the bins outside. In order to cool the room I had to open a window and the noise of the bar dumping empty bottles was infuriating with the window open. honestly the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel in years.

very clean, so much attention to detail in the rooms such as a little radio with lovely music on as you walk in. the staff are so lovely and really helpful. there are full sized toiletries in the rooms which is great because we forgot ALL of ours. We had toothbrushes and everything. The bed is the COMFIEST bed I think I’ve ever slept on!! They also had a Gluten Free breakfast which is a rare find and I could have anything on the menu with minor alterations.
Absolutely nothing. It was wonderful
