We enjoyed our stay. The owner was super nice. We had no issues. Super clean.

House worked well, kids loved the boats provided that is a great amenity. Only used resort one time but it was really nice. We will plan to be back.

Nice property with paddle boards and water craft. Near rumbling bald spa and passes to use those amenities which was great.

We went in early May and had a great time. Rumbling Bald is a nice resort with activities, pool (indoor and outdoor-in season). The onsite restaurants were good, and my wife enjoyed a nice spa day. The kids had plenty to do between all the activities and games at the home, plus the natural attraction of the lake. Being on the private lake-Bald Mountain was nice as it stayed quiet and lightly trafficked; I'm sure it gets much busier during the regular tourist season. Everything described was accurate. The layout of the house is neat for a short stay. Like most of the area, you need to be able bodied around steps. Hosts-Brownie and Leigh Anne-were both outstanding. Couldn't ask for nicer, more responsive people. Thank you for an excellent stay.
Weather warning-not sure if it was typical (maybe the new typical), but it was pretty wet while we were there with rain showers and severe storms. The power even went out briefly. That said, we still had plenty of time to roam about, visit Chimney Rock for a day, etc.

This house was lovely! We really enjoyed having access to water activities right on the property. We went for a long weekend with a group of women and everyone had a great time. It was really nice to be able to use the property amenities that we spend the majority of our time at the house, because there was so much to do. We all agreed that we should come back for another trip!

Loved all the amenities this property offers! Great and easy lake access. Beautiful views.

Property is great for you and old. Love all the activities for the kids and the adults could be part of the action without having to clumb a ton of stairs. Best spot on the lake!

Beautiful area….wonderful view of the lake. Many boats to choose from.
The house has an odd layout, but we were fine with that.
Never heard from the host, but we had no complaints.

My extended family and I had the most wonderful stay. The home was nice and comfortable and we loved the lakefront and spent most of our time chilling in the water or around the fire pit. The little electric boat was a ton of fun too! Communication and check-in was nice and easy. Would definitely stay again!

Damaged steps caused a safety hazard.
Lights in back not operating.

Overall it was a very enjoyable time! The kayaks and fire pit were great and we enjoyed them very much! The fishing from the dock was surprisingly successful as well! This is the third time our family has stayed in Lake Lure and the property was the best fot we have found thus far. Thank you for letting us enjoy ypur property!

We had a nice time. The guys enjoyed fishing off the dock and the girls enjoyed the hot tub. Lots of bedrooms for everyone. The house was very clean. Unfortunately it rained a good bit while we were there so we didn’t get to spend much time at the resort beach
4.8
The house, decks and yard have plenty of room to move about and the waterfront firepit is so relaxing! Having access to a boat and other water toys was a bonus that we enjoyed - would certainly stay here again!

Property was clean and as advertised. Had everything we needed. Owner was helpful and responsive. We enjoyed the nearby amenities of Rumbling Bald including mini golf, swimming, and hiking.

We had a blast. This house offers a variety of things to do. Outside games, paddle boat with trolley motor they just added it was awesome. Canoes paddle boards. Kids loved playing pool. The resort has a very nice pool area and it’s in lake beach. The owners are also very great at keeping in contact with you if you need anything. Highly recommend this place.

This property was perfect for our stay. The cabin had absolutely everything that we needed. Very relaxing and peaceful time on the lake.

We had a wonderful time at the house. Enough room for 6 adults and kids. Kitchen was very well stocked. The s’mores kit was a nice touch. The house was very clean. A trolling motor was installed before our stay on the paddle boat which was very nice. We look forward to staying here in the future!

We were looking for a fun, casual week in the mountains with lots of hiking and lake fun with our dog and college age kids -and we got it. We wanted an option for golf, which this offered through this rental at the Rumbling Bald Resort, but we wound up not having time. The house was a perfect size for 8 adults and could have slept two more in the bunk bed room. Brownie was a great host, ( very communicative) even setting us up with a new grill and everything we needed for a fun campfire night- including all the ingredients for s’mores. Easy access to hiking and boat rentals, plus all of the canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards at the property. The pool table was a great bonus and lots of fun. First time in Lake Lure and we’d like to go back in the fall.

Great outdoor areas
The cabin location is great. The owner is very accommodating and pleasant. We really enjoyed the outdoor areas and walking in the stream. We also enjoyed the pool at the resort for two of our days. The cabin was clean and well stocked. It is an older property and could use some updating, but we enjoyed our stay.

Great location
The location of the property and size were great for our family providing plenty of area to spread out. The pool in the community was wonderful and enjoyed by the teens in our group. The house needs some updated maintenance and cob webs were in all the high areas. Pots and pans were losing their coatings and utensils were limited, with handles coming off in the first use. More silverware is needed based on the occupancy.. overall we would return to the area but not to this property.

Wonderful lake house!
My family and I had an exceptional time at this property! The owner was responsive and thoughtful, even including supplies to roast s’mores! The location was great. Having access to the lake and channel was a huge hit with our 4 and 3 year old! The canoes and boat were very fun too! We’d come again in a heartbeat!!

The house was a great place to get away with family and friends. We enjoyed riding the paddle boat on the lake and fishing. Brownie was very responsive and great to work with! Would stay again.

Fantastic property
If you are looking for a great outdoor space, this is the place to stay. We had everything we needed and more. The kids had a great time playing in the stream outside that connects to the lake. We loved the fire pit and enjoyed the s’mores left by the host. Our host was extremely responsive and helpful. We used the resort amenities (it was close enough to walk) and hiked the trail right by the house. We would definitely stay again!

Snow day
We booked this house for a winter getaway and were surprised by 10 inches of snow. My family had a great time staying at this house. The owners were extremely kind and accommodating. We hope to return in the warmer months to enjoy the lake activities.

This was a family vacation with 6 and 8 year old grandsons and our 2 grown children and their spouses. The biggest asset of this property is the lot itself. The lot is large and flat with easy access to the lake for the grandsons. They brought their own children"s Kayaks and were able to launch thier boats from the sandbar. We were able to use the pedal boat or canoe to keep up! The nearby trail was perfect for walking our dogs. The house is at the end of the road and lake which make it very private. The children enjoyed the Rumbing Bald pool and mini golf course. Even though we were there during the recent heat wave we were able to enjoy the upper deck screen porch for morning coffee and evening cocktails with the help of a couple of box fans. There is a round table on the porch. The beds were comfortable. The AC worked great. A second refrigertor would be nice with large families (8 of us). We made a lot of ice runs for our cooler. The owner provided all the neccessities ie paper products and detergents. This is a vintage lake house in need of a little TLC. I have rented a lot of vacation homes through VRBO and I do feel that this one is a bit over priced for the house itself. The amenities of Rumbling Bald may make it worth it for others. Overall, we had a great vacation.

We enjoyed our family vacation 7/3-7/10. Everyone had a blast on the water….swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, floating, and fishing. The grandchildren and adults roasted hot dogs and s’mores. Fireworks show was great! We enjoyed the outdoor pool and lazy river. So much to do in the area. Our host, Brownie, was easy to reach and responsive.

My wife and I took our four young children to escape the Florida heat for a week and what a great choice we made. Brownie, the host, was most welcoming and accommodating. The house was very spacious with lots to do for adventurous kids: paddle boards, hikes, streams & full Rumbling Bald club amenities. I will be choosing this location again and highly recommend it!

Great experience with the location on the lake, but property needs maintenance.
We stayed at this property from 6/20 thru 6/26. First the pros - we really enjoyed the provided canoe and paddle boards. As the property sits at the head of the lake it was close to the park and some good hiking trails, and there was a good dock to fish off of. All appliances were in working order. Interior surfaces and sheets were clean. Lake gear was in good condition (we didn't try to inflate the kayak). There is also a nice fire-pit. Minor problems during the week were cable down when we arrived (which the property owner took care of within an hour after 9:00 PM on a Friday).
The following I offer up as constructive feedback both for the owner and to future renters considering the property and hope it is taken in that spirit. I believe the owner is doing all he can to bring the property to spec over time and ensuring a good stay for renters.
The dwelling itself is in fair condition. The structure itself is in need of repair. There's obvious wear on the 2 decks in several areas. Some of the outdoor furniture is in poor condition and should be repaired or thrown away. I'm thinking specifically of the upstairs swing seat which doesn't swing, and the plastic coming off of some of the chairs. Additionally, there is a noticeable musty smell inside when you enter downstairs and signs of mold in the downstairs bathroom. The kitchen and living areas could use some brightening. It seemed to be dark even with 3 lamps and 2 overhead lights running. There is a pool table with sticks provided, but none of the sticks seem to have tips. Other small issues - loose doorknobs everywhere, some carpeting coming up, a bad outlet in the master bedroom, strange electrical hookups (in the master, you cannot run the overhead fan if you turn off the lights). This should be clearly noted in the listing and priced accordingly. At another point in life we would have valued getting a rental like this for maybe 2/3 the listed rate with the facts noted, but the current rate is too much, and frankly it was a bit of a letdown. We came to lake lure in a group with 2 other families - each with a rental costing roughly same as this one give or take - all on the lake - and this one was in the worst shape of the 3 by far.
However - again - all appliances worked, the few problems we had were resolved quickly, and we still had a wonderful time. I hope the owner finds the means give this property the TLC it deserves in the coming years.

Getaway
We really enjoyed the privacy and location of Brownie’s lake house. The convenient access to the wonderful trail at Buffalo Creek Park was great. It was definitely a good place to easily put in kayaks and the lake was fun paddling. The lake house was nicely equipped with most of what we needed for our stay. Another great feature is that there are so many places to read or do a craft or enjoy the view of the lake - the picnic table and the porch swing on the lower deck, the screened in porch on the upper deck, and the seat benches on the smaller dock by the water. We did think that the inside stairs could be challenging for people with mobility issues (there is a rail on one wall), but there are stairs to the upper deck that give access to the house that are easier to navigate.
Brownie was very responsive to any questions or problems that arose. A great host! If you love the outdoors you will really enjoy Brownie’s Lake House.
