Loved the condo and really enjoyed the Pool and recreation center.
4.0 / 5.0
I liked our stay, the cabin was clean and neat. It was easy to find and location was close to the skiing resort. but the door knob was difficult to open using the key, some of the chairs were loose because some parts were missing. Finally, I read in the comments that you already provided basic coffee machine (not capsules one)for some guests but it when I asked for one, it wasn’t available.

I would be happy to stay here again. It looks exactly like the pictures and was clean and in good condition. The fireplace was great for cozy evenings. The unit isn't too far from the parking lot, and it's walkable to Northstar village with your gear (about a 10 min walk up the paved path). Note that the coffee maker is a Keurig so you'll have to bring your own K-cups.

The silver strike condo was vastly improved from my last stay. New flooring and furniture, plus a new massive smart TV in the living room. Can't wait to come back.

The condo provided a close space to Village and lifts. Rental was clean and basic, but could use a couple of repairs to light fixtures and refrigerator handle. Was disappointed to find that the "coffee maker" was a Keurig, as we brought filters and grounds for a coffer maker. It would be helpful to distinguish what kind of coffee maker is available, so that renters know whether to bring filters/grounds or pods.

Yes it was clean and in a great area but TV in living room was broken and so was Refrigerator, not worth the vet all price

Let me start by saying the condo at Northstar, CA was clean and comfortable, and the location is excellent.
However, my experience overall was below average for several reasons, which are listed below:
1. The check-in process was a disaster. The property uses an e-lock and the e-lock had no power as the battery was dead. I could not input the numerical code to enter the property. When I called the support number, the agent I spoke with said she would contact the local support person to have them come to the property and would open a repair ticket - I was given no information on how to contact this person or when they would arrive. It was nearly dark at that point and very cold, and I was starting to get concerned about where I would spend the night. When the local property manager arrived, he did change out the battery in the e-lock and reprogrammed it so that I could use it during the rest of the stay. Ensuring that the e-lock has power and is operational is a mandatory check-off item before renting a property to a new tenant.
2. The washing machine did not work. It has a small trickle of water when a wash cycle was started and did not drain properly, leaving the laundry sitting in a tub of water. I let Vacasa know about this but nothing happened.
3. The dishwasher was operational, however it was no longer attached to the counter frame and rocked forward when the door opened. This could create a catastrophic failure and water leak if it tears free during a cycle. I didn't use it during the stay as I didn't want to responsible for any potential water damage.
4. There was only one parking pass in the house that I could find that was used by the previous tenant. I wrote over the dates with mine, but there were supposed to be two new passes. There were also supposed to be passes to use the Northstar club amenities, like the exercise area, hot tub, etc., but I could not find them.
I sent an email to the customer service email address, [email protected]. I received a form response along the lines of "we're sorry for any inconvenience and have reported it to our local maintenance people, please let us know if there is anything else we can do. I never got a response from any local maintenance people, or anyone from the company save for the form email response. I am extremely disappointed in the poor check-in process, the lack of any sort of checklist to ensure that all the features that the property supposedly comes with actually work, and the lack of any specific followup to the issues that I listed. Going forward, Vacasa will be my last option for home rentals.
We have rented two properties from Vacasa in the past, and both experiences were excellent. This one was not. My goodwill

No parking passes in condo when we arrived on June 8 th at 4pm . We called Vacasa and said they would call back . They didn’t . We called again 2 hours later and the Vacasa rep said leave a note on your cars with booking details . We did that but stressed because we know northstar security is relentless and will ticket and tow cars . We were ticketed and threatened to be towed around lunchtime on the 9th . We again called Vacasa on two separate occasions and had poor communication and no call backs . We contacted northstar security and they said we don’t care . Your vehicles will be towed without property parking passes. We tried to call camco homeowners association for assistance and they blamed Vacasa also . We stressed for 24 hours about getting our cars towed . Terrible experience which we want a refund for . The recreation center is $8 a person and not $5 which made our kids return unhappy with not available funds . Overall terrible communication with Vacasa and representatives out of state and no local people to communicate to . Never again will we use Vacasa if this is standard practice

Good stay, property deserves some upgrades
Our family enjoyed a nice ski vacation in this condo. The location is excellent, an 8 minute walk from Northstar (but note that you'll have to walk a bit from your car to the place). It is nicely furnished with a good layout and the kitchen is well-appointed. I would definitely stay again, but this place could get 5 stars with a few minor tweaks. First, the couch has a faux-leather that is flaking off so much that they threw covers on top (but the flakes escape anyway). The ad states clearly that it has a Blu-ray player, but it doesn't (it's a plain DVD) so we couldn't play those movies. One of the TV cables was broken, so we had to play with the cables for the TV to work. Finally, there were just a few odd issues (a few of the stairs to the upper level squeak, the refrigerator door needs tightening, there is a broken lamp in the closet, only 3 wine glasses) that are annoying. Spent a bunch of time on hold as there were supposed to be 2 parking permits and only one was given, so we had to call to get another one.

Bus in Ski Out!
We had a nice time at the Enjoyable Northstar Condo. We were able to take the Northstar bus into the village and then ski back to the condo! We found the condo clean when we arrived and it had plenty of space for my family of 4 + 2 dogs. For those that want to walk to the village, it's also a short walk.

Great Location, simple clean condo.
Great location to walk to the village. Decent condo with the basics. Nothing too fancy but perfect for a ski weekend with the kids.

Great communication and cleanliness
I just wish we had known to bring our own firewood for the fireplace. The response was quick when I asked about it once we were in the condo. The place was very clean and had a nice "rustic cabin" feel. The couch was comfortable, though, as stated in other reviews, it is clearly older & a cover is used to hide the wear.

Glorified Glamping
Our stay at this property was OK. The place is clean, great location. HOWEVER, the dishwasher was broken when we arrived, we did not know this until trying to wash the breakfast dishes. We had to boil for three days because there was no hot water in the kitchen and no dish washer. The management responded fast but it took a bit to get someone out to repair, by then we were leaving. The couch has a cover on it and is in the worst shape. We are 50 year olds who could not really sit on the couch because of the condition. The TV in the den worked half the time. The place is in a great location and could use some TLC.

Family/ Dog Friendly Condo
We had a great time skiing the mountain with our grandkids! Everyone had their own TV to come home to for a night of entertainment.

Couch Ouch
Most of the reviews said the same thing, don't sit on the couch! It's weird that there is a cloth on it, the picture that shows isn't the actual thing. Apart from that, less lighting, looks a bit dingy in the night, every thing looks old, wood planks on the walls (splintered my kid), wifi didn't work on Day 1, but they fixed it on Day 2 and then you can hear every footstep around the house. The great part is that this is ridiculously close to Northstar Village. They should raise the bar though, definitely definitely replace the couch and redo the walls, bathrooms and smart the TVs.

Perfect snow getaway!
The condo was a perfect location and great walking distance to the village. Plenty of shops and restaurants. The beds were all very comfy and we enjoyed everything about the place.

Perfect for what we needed. Came for a ski vacation but no snow meant no skiing. Still had a great time. Place was as advertised and served us perfectly.

Awesome Home
This home is beautiful and very convenient to Northstar as it is located near the Big Spring Gondola. Fortunately it was very spacious. It is also a short drive to Truckee or Kings Beach.
I've used Vacasa before and have had no issues. They are a great agency and I appreciate the consistency in quality as that is not the case with Air Bnb unless the unit is under the management of another respectable agency. If I'm looking for something in the Tahoe area I go directly to Vacasa.
Advice to the rental company/owner would be to have some sort of air purifier in the unit along with A/C. The Caldor fire near the south end of the lake really smoked up the entire Tahoe basin. We were stuck in a unit that got really hot at night and we were unable to open the windows to cool it down due to the hazardous air quality. I want to emphasize that not having those items is of no fault to the agency or the owner. Unfortunately I forsee this being a consistent and common issue going forward as forest fires have been more frequent and larger over the last few years.
I would definitely stay here again. This was a good home to be stuck inside of for a weekend.

Not as Advertised
Not a great experience.
Location: walkable to village but lots of stairs. It was a trek from the parking lot to the house and the house to the village. Prepare to walk up. Not great for toddlers.
Cleanliness: Gross! Smells like dog pee, bugs and spiderwebs, towels were not clean, towels were on the floor when we arrived, beds are gross and no extra bedding is provided.
Geneal: the couch is awful! It’s broken in one section and peeling which comes off on you when you sit up. There is no AC! We were there when it was 88 and the house was HOT. The kitchen is old and the pots pans and utensils are sub-par.
The rent was horribly overpriced and they tack on too many fees (50%) rental price.
I reached out to the property manager and we only got a sorry response.
Do not rent!

Good location. Good pool ($5 per person adds up for a family of five but hey it’s vacation). Pet friendly a must for us. Overall a good value.

Not perfect, but good enough
We booked this townhouse for our 3-day getaway to Tahoe.
Here are the things you need to know:
a. there are some stairs to climb with your luggage, both outside and in the house. Be careful when you pack, or you will end up having a great exercise.
b. bugs can be seen in the house. We have seen giant ants mostly on the lower lever where two of the bedrooms are at. The other bedroom on the highest level has spiders and they do jump in luggage if left open.
c. Stairs to the highest level dont feel very safe and steady... I was not comfortable as I went on them.
d. after a very warm day, the highest level can be very hot. The roof doesnt block heat very well, and it gets even worse if you do cooking in the kitchen.
e. the two lower level bedrooms are very cool though, because they have thermostat.
Why do I still rate five stars? here are the reasons:
a. The neighborhood is very quiet, chipmunks, squirrels and birds can been seen very often.
b. My dog loves running up and down in the house, this house is great for pets.
c. great value for the price. The size of the house, the location are great.
I would recommend this home and will book again if I had another trip to this location.

Great condo
This is an excellent condo for a ski trip. The shuttle service to the village was great, but there is also a short path that takes 5 minutes to walk to the Village. The kids loved it and we would definitely rent again.

Weekend Trip
We decided to take a quick trip up to Northstar with the family. This was a perfect cabin, lots of space, clean , and super convenient to the village. My only suggestion is to update the kitchen features with more details and what is available so the renter can be more prepared if they are wanting to make meals or coffee. The listing said coffeemaker, so I brought coffee but there wasn’t any coffee filters. We made do and I would stay again (and bring coffee filters)!!

Good floor plan nice condo
NICE CONDO
I stayed at this condo March 7-11, 2021. The beds are comfortable. Nice TVs in each bedroom and living room. The couch is comfortable but the leather is worn. The kitchen is stocked with basic cookware. The central heating is great. It has a great floor plan. I'm over 60 and it is a walk from the parking lot to the condo. Overall I liked this condo and I have been renting from VRBO for years and never complained about a place. My complaint is with the management company Vacasa. We needed more paper supplies and dishwasher soap. I called Vacasa to get more supplies. I talked with Keith. He told me that you are only allowed a certain amount of paper products and dishwasher soap based on your length of time there and number of people. If I wanted more supplies I would have to pay for them or go buy them myself. I couldn't believe that Vacasa was that petty. I have rented many times and never had a problem getting more supplies. That really made me mad. I would like to know what they do for their fee. So I will never rent a place that Vacasa manages. Otherwise I really liked this condo. I can't give it 5 stars because of Vacasa.

Nice condo for the family and the dogs. Perfect walking distance to the Village and lifts.
Typical NorthStar condo. Nice location for the family. Once we parked, we didn't have to get into the car for the rest of the trip. The walking distance to the Village was good and getting the dogs out was easy. The leather couch in the living room could use replacing. For the price of the stay, it's irritating to plop down on a couch that looks like it came out of a thrift store. The kitchen utensils are scarce, but we made due with a combo of what we brought from home. There is an exposed tack strip in the threshold of the upstairs bathroom door that needs attention. The beds were soft and cozy, but watch your knees on the upstairs bed frame. Ouch! I would pack light for the next trip as the staircase from the parking lot to the condo is not something you want to do more than a couple times. I would have been happier had I spent about $400 less dollars for this place.
