The house was exactly as described. We really enjoyed our stay at Villa de Oso! The owner is really responsive when we had questions. The oceanside deck is beautiful we spend the majority of our time there. The outside showers were also really nice. The rental is really close to the grocery and meeting points for tours. Vincent from across the street at Hotel Margarita was an exceptional tour guide at Corcovado National Park. We saw so many animals! We hope to be back very soon.

My family and I had an amazing stay in the Drake Bay area. Location of our rental is right in the middle of the low key action. The rental was a perfect size and space for family of 5. Kids stayed in the large loft area upstairs and my husband and I took the room downstairs. A major plus having the outdoor showers to clean the humid day off and then being able to step into our air conditioned rental on the hot afternoons. You will not be disappointed in the back deck where mornings are comfortably pleasant to drink your coffee and relax. Yes, like other reviews said the rental is on a road where you hear traffic going by but quite do-able. Rent this place you won't regret it!

This was such an amazing place to stay. One sometimes wonders if a house will live up to the great reviews that you read. However, this house was even better than any of the reviews. Incredibly well kept, beautiful wood floors and wow, that deck.
Dana was helpful and quick to respond to al of our questions. Vincent Campos was also extremely helpful in setting up our tours.
Drake Bay is a beautiful place to stay and the people are very welcoming and fun.
We would definitely recommend this house.

My husband, 19 yr old daughter, and I had a wonderful week staying in the Villa de Osa. The location was perfect - beautiful views from the back porch, easy walk to restaurants and markets, perfect spot to reach the pickup location for tours into Corcovado and the river system. We were up to watch/listen to the birds in the back even when we didn't have an early tour. Back in the afternoon to enjoy the outdoor shower and more time to relax on the porch. Beds were very comfortable, appreciated the drinking water, kitchen well-equipped. Staff at Martina's Place very helpful and Dana (host) responded quickly to any questions. Very appreciative of the guide services from Vincent Campos! Hope to return someday!

We were a group of four seniors, on our first expedition to the Osa peninsula. Discovering Villa de Osa was a gift! The house was wonderfully clean (Thank you, Jenny Atencio!) and well equipped. Three large jugs of bottled water provided all the drinking water we needed for our 6 nights.
Our friends shared the master bedroom w/ bathroom and indoor shower on the main floor, and my husband and I were on the second floor --- a lovely, sunny space with three beds and a half-bath. Our beds were very comfortable and the linens soft and clean.
The house has a hot water heater and a back-up pump to keep water flowing when the village system goes out. The outdoor showers are great for washing off snorkel gear and shoes.
Favorite Space Award goes to the back deck. Spectacular harbor view! Flowers and trees cover the hill leading down to the beach --- lots of birdsong at sunrise (and a brilliant group of scarlet macaws in the afternoons).
Can't beat the location. Right on the main road, we were within walking distance of restaurants, markets and the departure point for transport boats.
Across the street is Martina's Place, a hostel where guides Vincent Campos and Gabi Atencio will arrange excursions (Corcovado Nat'l Park, Caño Island, Mangroves, Night Jungle Hikes). Gabi's brother-in-law Carlos Jinetes provides airport transport.
Dana is a super host. She arranged our airport transport, put us in touch with Gabi & Vincent and was always helpful & accessible. Highly recommend!

This stay was great overall but had one major weakness (noise)
Host: She's fantastic - a quick and wonderful communicator. Though she lives out of the country, she has great local people looking after the place. 5 stars!
Home:
Plus-Adorable A-frame with a stunning view from the back porch of the entire Drake Bay, with birds flying by and a lovely garden of blooming plants. Truly amazing! A steep staircase leads directly to the ocean. AC works. Beach is swimmable. Minus: Wifi did not work for 90% of our stay so don't count on having it. Master bedroom has a large open window (no glass) toward the living room, ie not much privacy.
Location: Plus - it's located right in town, a 2 minute walk from grocery stores and restaurants, 4 minute walk from veggie/fruit market, ie it's very central and close to the beach (3-4 min walk down staircase)
Minus - it's VERY noisy - there are loud motorcycles and 4x4's riding 10-15 feet from your head (on the main road) all day during the night on and off as well. We did not sleep well. Nobody's fault - just the fact of the house being located in the smack on the major road in town. Both bedrooms have large windows facing the street and the walls are thin, so the noise carries. If you're a super sound sleeper, it shouldn't affect you and the gorgeous back deck will make it worthwhile. (Our family ranges from medium to light sleepers).

This was our second time to stay at Villa de Osa. The house is wonderful, and the location is ideal - near the grocery store and restaurants but just a 10 minute walk to the start of the trail. We spent many hours on the porch, enjoying the view of the bay and watching the macaws. The yard/garden is beautiful and the house is comfortable and well-stocked. Our children loved the upstairs bedroom (it's beautiful!). Dana is a gracious host - she checked in frequently to make sure we had what we needed. Highly recommend Villa de Osa!

The location is great for everything, just as Dana describes.
The homr is just like the photos and the deck does have panoramic views of Drake Bay. We spent most of our time on the lovely deck, especially laying in the hammock when not out and about.
We had an issue come up during our stay and Dana IMMEDIATELY responded to my message and as the Super Host she is, made things better considering the circumstances beyond her control.

We (four adults) had a wonderful week at Villa de Osa! The view from the deck is breathtaking! We spent most of our time when at the house on the deck, watching birds and the activity in the water. The rocking chairs and hammocks were very comfortable and relaxing. The check-in and check-out were smooth - we were met by a lovely woman (mother-in-law of our taxi driver from Martina's place) who gave us a tour of the house. Gabi and Vincent from Martina's place across the street were wonderful as well - arranging taxis and tours. Vincent was a wonderful guide for morning birding around the area and at Corcovado National Park. We enjoyed hiking the Drake Bay trail and walking to many different restaurants in town - La Totuga, El Jungle, Delicias, and Marea Alta. The bottled water provided was a pleasant surprise. The outdoor showers were nice after a day of exploring or swimming. We swam and played in the waves right in front of the house. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

From my first contact with Dana to checking out with Gabi across the street - everything was just perfect. The house was right in the middle of the action - but the back porch was an oasis with a view I couldn’t stop staring at. I sat there every chance I could - which wasn’t much since there is so much to do in Drake Bay. My two almost adult stayed upstairs and everyone was incredibly happy. I strongly recommend staying here. I would love to go back. Tomorrow.

What a fantastic house and location to explore Drake Bay and the peninsula Osa. Stayed for 5 nights which was just perfect. Dana was very responsive and super helpful when we booked the place. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your place! We all loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️s of the week definitely go to Gaby from Martina’s place from across the road who is looking after the house and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. From organising our tours to dinner recommendations - Claudio’s Grill ! - she was always there for us. 🙏.

Amazing!
The house was perfect for our family of five. The upstairs bedroom is like tree house or Swiss Family Robinson type room - our children loved it! The location is great - just around the corner from the market and within walking distance of several restaurants. Gabi, the property manager, was wonderful -- she met us at the boat with a taxi, arranged our tours, and was always available for any questions.
Our favorite spot to hang out was on the porch -- from early morning to late evening -- fantastic views with scarlet macaws and parrots flying overhead. (It's even prettier than in the photos.) We cannot wait to return.

Best location in Drake bay.
The location cannot be beat. Located in the heart of drake bay close to everything but also private. You cannot beat the view from the back porch. I can’t stress enough that they have AC upstairs and downstairs!!! We showered outside everyday after our many activities which we booked through Martina’s place across the street. We will be back and also to go fishing again on the Reel Escape.

Welcoming with great location
Our family (2 adults, 2 teens, 2 kids) had an amazing stay! Gaby, the property manager arranged our airport pick up and excursions. She and her husband Vincent were generous with their knowledge of the area, their guide service was outstanding!
The gardens at the house boast gorgeous plants which attract a huge number of birds and there is a paved stairway down to the beach.
The location is perfect! It’s an easy walk to the small grocery store, restaurants, and the bay.
We had an amazing stay, highly recommend!

Terrific! Don't hestitate.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay. The house is comfortable and clean, the location is easy, and the deck is unbelievable. You can just sit and watch the birdlife and ocean sunsets all day. With an outdoor shower and quick walk down to the beach, this place can't be beat. Gaby, the onsite manager, can help you book any tour you want and the supermarket is well stocked. Skip the all in resort and stay here. You won't regret it.

That View!
The house has a beautiful, large deck that overlooks the beach and has great views in each direction. It is located right in the town so it is a short walk to the grocery store, tours, kayaking, restaurants. We enjoyed Kalaluna Restaurant, a ten minute walk on the beach. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking, the a/c was appreciated. There is a lot of space if you have a large group. The description listed on vrbo is very accurate about everything. Finally, Dana was very responsive to questions and was easy to reach.
