Welcome to West Wind, a sound-front paradise located in quiet North Avon in the exclusive Island Creek/Spencer’s Cove community. This home offers great sunsets, private sound access, boat slips, and an abundance of water sports - particularly windsurfing and kiteboarding. And, you can enjoy a shared pool throughout your stay at the Club Hatteras Pool Facility.
West Wind features a reverse floor plan with both levels of the back of the house offering incredible sound views. Under vaulted ceilings on the top level, you'll find a king primary suite and a great room with an entertainment center stocked with movies, books, and magazines. The open floor plan includes not only the great room but a fireplace, an inviting dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen with a dining island. Outside on the top level, you'll find a screened porch with a picnic table and a large sound-front deck with plenty of deck furniture.
The lower level features a den, four bedrooms (including a second king primary suite, two queen bedrooms, and one bedroom with two singles), and a laundry room. The outside lower level includes a six-person hot tub within a screened enclosure, yet another large sound-front deck with deck furniture, as well as a front porch for you to relax on. Two outdoor showers, a grill, and lockable windsurfing storage (including sail hangers and carpeted board racks) are located on the ground level for use during your stay.
The location of the house allows for direct access to the shallow Pamlico Sound, or if you prefer, an easy walk to the ocean. There are gift shops, restaurants, and water sports facilities within walking distance or a few minutes' drive of the house.

Access to the ocean for sunrises and the deck for beautiful sunsets.

We have been coming to the Outer Banks for the past 10 years. Each year we stay in a different house. This house has been by far the most expensive house we have rented. However the house is not worth the price. The deck is in need of repair. There were at least 4 cockroaches in the house. We called to notify the rental company at 8:38 am. They said they would call maintenance and someone would come out. I asked what time to expect them. The rental company said they would call before coming out. No one called or came that day. The next day someone did call late in the afternoon. The maintenance guy tried to say that they are actually palmetto bugs and are very common. Once again, I explained to him in all the years we have been coming, we have never had this issue with any of the houses we have rented before having cock roaches. He said someone would be out to spray the following day. No one ever came to spray. There was black mold in the master bathroom around the vent. The pros of this house were: the view from the back deck. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking essentials. The house did come with three kayaks.

What a nice location, quiet area, great sunsets from the large deck with paddle boards and kayaks.

It really is more like 4.5 but just minor things keep it from being a 5. Has great water access and really nice storage for my water toys. Wife was impressed with the kitchen utensils,etc...
We will be reserving it for fall.

Great house and beautiful sunsets. I could not be happier with the house and the service we received from Vacasa. We use to use Surf or Sound and any issue we had would likely never get resolved. Keep us the great service Vacasa!

Pros:
We loved the location. On the sound side but still a short 10 minute walk to the beach on the other side. Close to everything needed for a relaxing beach vacation. The house interior was clean. The kayaks were a nice touch.
Cons:
The grill was filthy and gross. We spent a significant amount of time cleaning it up so we could use it to grill our food.
There was no beach equipment (chairs, umbrella).
Overall: 4 stars for the price. We would recommend and we might look around before booking here again.

July 24-31 vacation
Lovely home on a gorgeous sound front property. We mostly stayed at house & used kayaks/floats in sound. Inside of home was well stocked & bedrooms were comfortable. Loved having 2 dens. The only thing bothered me was no lids on trash cans & birds kept getting into trash. Kinda gross with the food they pulled out & dropped. Not sure what happen 2 lids. Other then that, we absolutely loved our vacation at this house.

Sunsets for the win
The house was lovely. The sunsets were unbelievably beautiful. We enjoyed the sound and hot tub. After spending time on the beach side and the sound side I think my family would personally prefer the beach. I gave it a 3 because the mattresses and bedding throughout the house really needed to be upgraded. The grill ran out of propane after one use and all four children got splinters from the porch (hands and feet). Always wear shoes.

Fantastic vacation, mind blowing views
We had a fantastic time at this place. The pictures don’t do justice to the views that are available from the decks. The sunset views were our families favorite hangout spot every day during our stay. The house was very clean and well maintained.
The hot tub was the second favorite spot for everyone in the family. The kayaks, paddle board and life jackets made it super easy access to go kayaking in the sound.
The 2 outdoor showers were great to wash off the beach sand or the sound water. The outdoor shower had both hot and cold water.
We would definitely visit again as this was one fantastic experience.

Fabulous location, views and plenty of space
We loved our stay. The house was spacious and well equipped for 3 families with older kids. We lived having direct water access and beautiful evening sunset views. Lots of seating options. The only things that could be improved was grill is pretty small for a large house. The deck is a little splintery but most are. Also would have loved a more accurate floor plan. There were no bunk beds and we were confused about which room had twins prior to arrival. Also a list of house contents would have been appreciated. When we asked for one we merely got a response that it was “fully equipped” this means different things to different people. We brought more than we needed in some areas and not enough in others. There were 2 coffee makers (we brought one) there were 2 blenders (we brought one) there was no mixer or many cookie sheets. Details like this are really helpful when packing!
The town of Avon is pretty quiet but has a large grocery store. Very near house. Really has and anything you need Beaches were all pretty quiet too which we appreciated.

Great location, could use some updates
We loved being on the sound side and having water access and a beautiful view. The house itself was fine - plenty of space and comfortable beds & furniture. The bathroom ceilings and floors were definitely old and a lot of the fixtures and things could use updating. It was a short 0.4 mile walk to the beach and despite 3 straight days rain, we made the best of it and enjoyed our stay.
