About this house rental
Welcome to 3 Boulders at Valle Crucis! At our 6 bedroom, 5 bath mountainside home you will enjoy a pleasant drive into the property and plenty of parking as well as beautiful pastoral and seasonal long range mountain views. In fact, no matter the season, there is beautiful scenery and nature all around. The colonial saltbox architecture, restored heart of pine floors, and rambling floorplan gives this home a storybook feel. We endeavor to make vacationing with us relaxing and easy. We keep our home fully stocked with supplies so that you can travel lightly. Our home has the feel of comfortable mountain luxury; warm livable furnishings, tasteful decor, high quality linens and attentive housekeeping add value and ease to your getaway. 3 Boulders has numerous seating areas inside and out and space to spread out but it is also truly a gathering place for family and friends to spend time together!
On the main level you will find the foyer, den and kitchen, large dining room with sitting area, guest bedroom with direct access to full bathroom, laundry/mud room and 3 steps up to a beautifully appointed owners suite. The open living area includes a den with a vaulted ceiling, a large stone woodburning fireplace and a fully stocked chef's kitchen including double ovens, two sinks, large island with barstools and spacious fridge/freezer. The dining room has a large farm table with seating for 10 as well as a comfortable seating area and gas fireplace. From the den and dining room enjoy access to the expansive deck and covered porch equipped with a gas grill and lots of comfortable seating. In the tucked away newly renovated owners' suite, enjoy your morning coffee in the sitting area while gazing through the floor to ceiling windows at the valley and mountains beyond. The room boasts a king sized bed and large closet. The spacious newly renovated bathroom includes a large jetted marble surrounded tub with a beautiful view, a double vanity, heated floors and spacious steam shower with rain head.
Venture to the second floor to find a wall of books on the landing. There are two spacious king bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, each with a shower and separate tub, on this floor. Up one more level you will find the sweet attic room with twin beds and even a little reading ledge that is a perfect hideout for kids.
Finally, on the lower level there is plenty of space for recreation and relaxation! There you will find a sitting area with a large flatscreen tv, a game area with ping pong table, piano and card/game table and another sitting area with day bed and space for a home workout. A queen bedroom and full bath with tiled shower is also on this level. Enjoy lovely views from the hot tub accessed on this level.
You will love the scenery outside the home as much as in. We often spot many deer and wild turkeys on the property and there is plenty of room to roam. Our children love to climb on the many boulders, swing in the hammock, build a fire in the fire pit and play in the creek when we have had plenty of rain. In the serene surroundings at 3 Boulders you feel away from it all, but you aren't far from all that Boone, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, the Watauga River and the ski mountains have to offer! Throughly enjoyed our time at 3 Boulders. Check in was easy and the home is lovely, well stocked kitchen, nice bedrooms and baths. But we really enjoyed the covered porch-visited and ate out there! Was a great family vacation thanks to 3 Boulders and Kristin.

Beautiful property, quiet and serene but easy access to all the activities adults and children can enjoy. We had 8 adults and 4 children ages 6mo-5. The hosts were super responsive and have done a great job of making their home very comfortable and well stocked for most anyone’s needs. Large kitchen and many areas that a large crowd can spread Out and have privacy. The property is not Handicap friendly which is the only drawback if that is an issue for you.

Amazing stay in Valle Crucis. We vacation in the area with several couples every Memorial week, and this was truly the first rental that felt like a home and not just a mountain house. Pastoral property, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen with a huge island (great for cooking together), large deck to gather when we returned from exploring Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Attentive owner if there were any questions. Thanks Kristin!

Spent several days here on a leadership retreat. Plenty of room for a large group, with everything you can think of. Wildlife roaming everywhere. Very relaxing. Will definitely book again.

As our grandchildren get older, some in college, some getting ready to graduate high school, and families living in different states, Christmas seems to be the best time to gather. Our hostess was so helpful before we arrived and answered all my questions as we hadn’t been in the NC mountains before. The home was perfect for the 11 of us- 3 master suites and then 3 other bedrooms for the grandkids. The main master was exceptional with spectacular views and a jetted tub and heated bathroom floors. The kitchen was fantastic and many people could be in there at one time. Our family dinners in the dining room were enhanced by the architecture and beautiful furnishings- lovely yet comfortable enough for all ages. Our grandkids hung out in the lower level most evenings- and into the early mornings- and none of the adults heard them at all! The views were spectacular from every room and nicely decorated inside for the holidays. The deer ere plentiful and on one of our last days a flick of wild turkeys landed in the field next door. Our only disappointment was the hot tub failed to work- though 2 men came out during our stay to try and get it running. Our hostess recommended dinner at Sorrento’s in Banner Elk- a must for anyone. Excellent food and service. If we can ever gather our tribe together again, we will definitely head back to the hills- er the mountains!!!

Our large family (two generations of adults) really enjoyed staying in this house! It's very large, with numerous comfortable bedrooms. Beds, pillows and sheets were comfy. We saw deer herd almost every day around the house! Often right outside the windows. The area around is quiet, we walked to the river (super clean water).
Every night we all gathered around the wood-burning fireplace. We celebrated the New Year around the big dining table. Kitchen and the stove were great. We spent time outside on the porch, relaxed in the hammock. Played ping pong in the lower level. We really enjoyed this big and welcoming house!
Appalachian ski resort is very close, so we went there several times. The weather was accommodating, and the artificial snow on the slopes was nice.
The host was very responsive to any of our questions and/or needs.

My entire family does an Autumn Trip every year and we luckily came across 3 Boulders and absolutely loved our stay. The house is great and the location makes it even better. Aside from the neighborhood it's in, it is centrally located between Boone and Mountain City, TN. We sincerely enjoyed our stay and look forward to a potential return in 2024. We had a great time at this fabulous property! The house is magnificent and easily slept 10 adults and one infant. The location is very near the original Mast General Store and it is an easy drive into Boone or Blowing Rock.

Beautifully equipped, separate beds for all 11 in family, incredibly spacious, very quiet, very easy to assemble together or spend time alone (example: nighttime TV football games), lots of private bathrooms, peaceful early coffee on deck under roof in morning while watching deer walk through the yard, frisky chipmunks running to and fro, late night fire pit under the stars with chairs to seat all of us, dining room seating for all of us, comfortable beds, luxurious towels, lots of items provided (ex: hand-soap for every sink with very pleasant scent), very natural and beautiful landscaping throughout grounds, a very comfortable home-away-from-home we all looked forward to returning after each day of hiking, fishing, and seeing sights - 3 Boulders hit a home-run with all of us. Everyone asked if we could return at same date next year! Thank you for providing a wonderful family time for us!

We had a great stay in our favorite little town of Valle Crucis. The house had everything we needed and lots of space for everyone to spread out.
The kitchen had all the things we needed.
The grounds were wonderful. Close to all of our favorite Boone area stops and hikes.

This was our second time renting 3 Boulders. It is the perfect spot for friends and family to gather. The house is just like it is listed- serene spot, well equipped kitchen, stocked with paper products and basics, great linens, comfortable beds, great outdoor space, large dining room table, lots of wildlife, tv room, close to the Watauga River, and the Valle Crucis Community Park. The owners are very responsive and helpful. Will definitely rent again!!!

This home was very spacious and had plenty of bathrooms for the two families (10 people) that stayed. Very peaceful and quiet area. The firepit was fun place to hang out too. Very nice, only problem was the air conditioner half worked, but got a quick response from owner, but they were unable to get someone out to fix it during our stay.

It was bitterly cold outside the first few days we were there. Thankfully we had a terrific house where could cook, play games and enjoy the fire. Great house for a family vacation. Our grandkids loved seeing all of the deer in the area.

Hidden Treasure
WE LOVED this house and have already booked it again. The location is perfect-very quiet and peaceful, the house has a great outdoor area, the kitchen is the best equipped one we've ever used, the playroom downstairs was perfect for our grandchildren, the Watagua River and the Valle Crucis park are very close, the bedding is fabulous, and the owner and the property manager could not have been nicer!

The house is large enough for our 10 adults to gather together and have plenty of space if you want some alone time. The deck is large and the covered portion was great for the little rain we encountered. Will definitely book this again if we go back to the area.

This beautiful home was an ideal spot for a delightful getaway with family. Bedrooms and baths were private, so clean, and well-spaced throughout the house, affording opportunity for remote work during the day and restful sleep at night. The grounds are just lovely, and there are fantastic parks and other things to do nearby. The kitchen is very well stocked with all that you need to cook, which we wanted to do during the pandemic. Our host was easy to communicate with and made a special effort to meet an unexpected need that we had near the end of our stay. We highly recommend this property!
