4.5
Fin frokost i nydelig lokale.

God vibe og nydelig julestemning
Vet det er gammelt, veldig lytt inn mot rom og gang, ønsket speil på rommet.

We loved absolutely everything about this gem of a property: the location in a stunning natural environment, the adorable staff, the unique history and decor of the hotel full of collectible and heirloom furniture and, of course the wonderful dinner. Food certainly was a highlight as this is generally where Norway fails to impress us. We were served a fresh, creative, and delicious dinner in the beautiful dining room overlooking the fjell. The chef even adjusted the menu for the vegetarians among us, creating genuine new dishes for us. Wow! Again, that was unexpected as eating veg in Norway is often a challenge.
Everything felt authentic and personal in this independently-run property. Dinner starts with a presentation of the history of the place by the owner, their struggles during Covid and how they overcame them. Charmingly, this introduction included the reading of a poem (sadly we don’t understand Norwegian so had to rely on the translation of the presentation afterwards).
Every effort is made to be sustainable : There’s a vegetable garden, the delicious bread is baked on the premisses (we took a box of the amazing Flatbrød with us) and the lovely shop sells some local cheese, honey and other specialties including, this being Norway, sweets :)
We are already dreaming of a next stay to the Tuddal Høyfjellshotel to experience more of its magic and of the stunning nature around it as our stay this time was way too short.
Note to the owners: stay as you are, you are a genuine gem and the world needs more places like yours. Thank you for everything!

I liked the magnificent view on a lake, the historic building with its exquisite furniture and decoration that gives you the impression that you stepped back in time .
I did not like the very small room and the fact that the hotel is extremely overpriced for what it offers

We came to Norway from New York for a family trip across country from Oslo to Bergen in April 2023 and we had booked in for a night at Tuddal Høyfjellshotel to break up the drive. It was our first trip to Norway and had no idea that we were going to have one of the absolute best experiences of the entire trip together there. The place is simply beautiful. The people there are incredibly attentive and helpful. The food at dinner and breakfast is world class. The location is stunning. As a personal side note to the owners: My father came to the U.S. from Kongsberg when he was in his very early 20’s and started his new life and family. Growing up in Southern California where my brother and I were exposed to a lot of the antique Scandinavian items, colors, and style. My father was a committed collector at flea markets and swap meets everywhere, and anytime he came across an old collectible related to his homeland, he would proudly bring it home and share the story of it with us, and then find a place to display it in their home. When we came into the main building to check in to our rooms, I told my 17 and 20 year old daughters, “this…this is the story your Grandfather was trying tell us with all those things”.
Honestly? everything is kind of perfect.

The food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious. Exceptional service. A very intimate family run hotel with excellent facilities, whilst maintaining historical building and antique furniture making this a very unique hotel to stay in. Setting and view also beautiful.
Nothing!

Great location. The set dinner menu was fantastic and is highly recommended.
The room was small and we had to ask the housekeeping for towel change

The hotel is stunning, with beautiful rooms filled with eclectic objects collected over a long period of time. It feels like staying in a very special private house. We had dinner with the wine package, which was exceptional - the wine was beautifully matched to each dish, and the food was delicious. Although this was quite pricey compared to eating out in the UK, it was a real treat and well worth the cost - the food was locally sourced and very high quality and the service was excellent. Children can opt for smaller portions at a very reasonable cost. The breakfast was fantastic and beautifully presented, all homemade with local produce. We all slept really well - we had the family room with individual bunks built in.
The door on the shower in our bathroom was broken - the shower was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

The breakfast was excellent, it offered everything I wanted. Loved that they had put a can of coffee at our table before we sat down.
I would have like more options regarding dinner. The food was very good, but a bit over priced.

Everything about this unique hotel is outstanding. The staff are very friendly and do everything they can to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. The food is fantastic and the wine flight an absolute treat. The hotel itself is an absolute gem, something to be treasured. The attention to detail is wonderful. And the surrounding area, this is picture perfect and there for all to enjoy. This was our second stay and we are very much looking forward to our next visit. We can't recommend this hotel enough.

We spent New Year's Eve at Tuddal, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is warm and cozy, the rooms are pleasant, and the meals are fabulous.
4.5
The hotel is located in the middle of the forest near a lake.
On arrival, I was warmly welcomed and the whole place is just gorgeous. Besides the cozy rooms there are several public areas filled with bookshelves, paintings and fireplaces.
Stay here, if you are searching for a place to relax and slow down.
Make sure to have the dinner. It was one of the best meals I ever had.

Hotel historic concept and layout, nice staff,
Room not ready after in-checking. Small sized room. Staff occaisionally not available at reception, little info on other facilities being in fact available; sauna, bacery, walking-tours locally etc

Lack of towels in toilet.
Too hard madras.

This place is great : the view is charming, the room is comfy, the hosts are so welcoming and last but not least, the food is delicious. They even have their own brand of beer. What else ask for?
