About this cottage rental

Waters Edge Cottage is on Bay Street, right next door to Valentines Marina. It has fantastic walkability to favorite restaurants- The Landing, The Rock House, Davine, Cocoa Coffee house and trendy bar The Elbow Room. Pink Sands beach is a quick 5 min walk away too.
The cottage has a King bedroom and a loft bedroom with lounge and queen bed, a Jack and Jill bathroom is shared between them. There is also a half bathroom and a fantastic indoor/outdoor shower with gorgeous views of the bay.
The kitchen, which opens up onto a covered outdoor porch, is spacious and well stocked to prepare any meals at home. Dining is either under the stars, on the sun deck on the edge of the bay, or undercover on the porch.
The porch is outdoor living at its best, decked with lounge chairs and cushion clad benches, a great place to read a book, play a board game or to just enjoy the sunset from.
The lounge with its comfy 3 seater couch, smart TV and windows that over look the garden, is another great place to be.
We have a small library room where you will find many a good book to read or board game to play , and just off that is the small laundry that’s tucked away discreetly.
This cottage is full of charm, is squeaky clean and everything you are looking for in a holiday rental or longer stay.
At no extra charge to you I include daily housekeeping for a couple hours a day, however I kindly as that you leave the housekeepers a tip.

The cottage could not have been better! It’s perfectly situated next to Valentine’s Marina, with a dock out back to watch the boats come and go. The art in the house was my absolute favorite, and the attention to detail decorating is perfect Bahamian shabby chic. The house is quirky, but if you’ve stayed in any original homes on the island, they’re all uniquely their own in this way. Thr house was stocked with tons of books (especially children’s books which was clutch for us!) and games. The kitchen is well appointed, the outdoor shower was the only place any of us wanted to shower because it’s perfect, and the house was always cool and comfy. The washer and dryer are a fantastic added bonus, too. Book Needle House now, you won’t regret it!

This is our tenth trip to harbour island and this was the worst house we have ever occupied. It was our friend’s first trip and I was sad that they had to experience Waters Edge as their first. I’ll start with the positive - location was great and house was decorated with Bahamian charm. Now on to the negatives. Daily housekeeping was advertised and the beds were made only two days. Linens were terrible - stained towels, etc. bed in master room was awful and the air conditioning unit was so loud, we couldn’t use it. Water pressure was minimal in the shower and there were so many bugs in the tub on a daily basis. The bigger issue is the safety. The configuration of the stairs leading upstairs is very hazardous. Our friend fell twice, badly injuring both legs. The stairway is very narrow but makes a crazy turn leading to the bathroom that is not easily navigated. There is no headroom if you are over five feet tall. The outside steps leading from the deck should have a handrail as well. The floors are extremely uneven and present tripping hazards. Sorry. We have never left a bad review before but thought it was necessary to save the next guests.

We have stayed all over the Caribbean... this is one of the worst places we've ever rented. We aren't especially high maintenance people. So when we say a place is bad, it is BAD. Believe the reviews!! We arrived to a cottage that looked nothing like the photos. Within minutes within this house, I wanted to cry. It was SO bad. The worst way to start a vacation. First, we had beer to put in the fridge when we first arrived, but the fridge was hot and smelled disgusting. We left, thinking maybe it needed time to turn on. When we got back a few hours later, this fridge was missing, but another one was in its place. I have photos, but it was the most nasty moldy appliance, covered in mildew/mold and smelled awful. Sean came over to "clean," but this dude has clearly never cleaned a day in his life... he left the gross paper towels he used to clean laying on the counter and left. The house smelled strongly of mold/mildew the entire time. We all felt sick. Cherise said a daily housekeeper would come, but that never happened. All of the rugs and pillows were stained and disgusting. The outdoor furniture was covered in mold and it was indoor furniture discarded from the Dunmore that was not meant for outdoor use. The shutters were all falling off the house - we had to use an old broomstick we found to prop the front one. Trash all over... old gas cans in the yard.. just so gross. Y'all should be ASHAMED. Sean is guest relations at the Dunmore....and this is what he rents.

I must’ve driven by this adorable hidden gem of a cottage in years past and I’m so glad I finally found it! It’s an absolute GEM. It has everything I love about Harbor Island, the old world historic charm combined with a incredible style and aesthetic. As my teens called it “really good vibes”! Beautifully curated with mix of local art on the walls along with Worldly treasures, a stunning book case and gorgeous comfortable sheets and linens, colorful comforters and cozy beds. The location is incredible- adjacent to the Dive Shop at Valentines marina … a few steps away from delicious coffee shop/breakfast spot. Shaded in the front by gorgeous trees and a large porch i the back with comfortable seating and a dinning table and steps down to a little lawn … that leads to a deck right on the water. I got lucky and sat right there and watched the fireworks display on Bahamian Independence- Best seat in the house. I could go on … the outdoor shower was divine and during my entire stay, I could help but photograph every little corner of the cottage- inside and out , that I felt was styled so perfectly. The lovely and beautiful owner was on island and available for any advice or needs (though I didn’t have any complaints for her at all)! I truly enjoyed my week - and only wish I could’ve stayed longer! Actually… I did add a couple days at the end of my trip and Cherise was so lovely and accommodating- I WILL BE BACK. Loved every minute. Thank you again and again!!

This was our 3rd trip to Harbour Island and we were excited to find this property that listed so many great reviews and was right next door to Valentines Marina. The first night of our stay, we had swarms of flying insects in the bathroom and kitchen. The bedroom air conditioner was very loud and we had to turn in off in order to sleep. That same night, the roof leaked onto the bed in the master bedroom on both sides of the bed. We were assured by the owner that she would refund our money if we could find another place to stay on the island. She even offered to help us find somewhere else to stay. We found another property and changed locations so ended up staying at this property for 2 of the 7 nights that we had booked. Cherise continued to assure us that she would provide a refund and took our banking information. Needless to say-it’s 4 weeks later and she has stopped communicating with us. In addition, the outlets in the bathroom did not work, there is no shower indoors and the outdoor shower only had cold water. This is the first time I have ever listed a negative review of a property but I definitely would not recommend this property or any other property owned by Cherise.

After reading all of the amazing reviews our group was excited to stay here- but were unfortunate super disappointed The Pros: Cherise and her local contact Sean were quick to respond & friendly. The cottage is in a wonderful spot next to food, coffee & the marina! It is tastefully decorated. Washer and dryer were a bonus. The Cons: The A/C unit in the primary bedroom was horribly loud. We contacted Cherise about it and she was going to send Sean over- Sean said he would have swapped it out- but the back up he had was even louder. I ended up sleeping on the couch so I could benefit from the living room A/C unit - bc when we tried to turn the unit off at night in the bedroom- it got really warm and started smelling like mildew. There were also mice or some small rodent burrowing in the walls of the primary bedroom- making it hard to sleep. The full bathroom inside has a tub and a shower- but not a traditional shower- there is no shower head on the wall. It’s a tub with a hose and a shower head attached that lays in the tub. This may be customary in Harbour Island- but it would have been helpful to have the listing include this ahead of time. The back porch is ADORABLE- however 90% of the time we went to sit in the back the water/cove area smelled of septic. It was so bad we didn’t spend much time out there despite the incredible set up. There were not hand towels or wash cloths in any of the closets- we asked for some to be delivered- but never received them.

You can’t imagine a more perfect place to stay on this beautiful island! Cherise hasn’t missed a trick! The home is amazingly outfitted - from the linens to artwork - everything is so very tasteful and current! Beds are super comfy…kitchen is fully stocked (even had a French press)….bonus is the ability to do laundry after a long day exploring the island. The hosts are kind beyond compare and went out of their way to ensure we had the trip of a lifetime. I would not want to stay anywhere else on the island. Location is key…we could walk everywhere and were right next to many of the best restaurants and local happy hour clubs! We loved Captain Bobs for groceries and found everything we needed in one spot! The new marina was our favorite spot on the island- 480 has the best lobster quesadilla ever! This place was a small slice of heaven and we owe it to the kindness of our host and her property manager! Thanks for making my daughters last “spring break” as high schoolers one we will remember forever!!!
