Grosses Zimmer, gute Lage.

Breakfast was excellent. It's an old building and similar to other European inexpensive hotels. Was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Close to restaurants and trams and very central.
Our room key didn't always work.

Near to our Basel Tattoo event.

The hotel is in a very good location right next to the university and in walking distance of most of the main tourist sights. There's a decent bakery several doors down and some very good Asian restaurants within one block (seemingly very popular). Easy and quick access to/from the SBB train station --- but note that the bus stop is not where Google maps says; get out at Spalentor.
The hotel building is noticeably dated (think retro), but the staff are very helpful. We could check in at 8 am after an overnight train.
The room, and especially the bathroom configuration are also dated. But you can easily look past that given the large room size, and good equipment. Lots of wardrobe space, a modern desk, up to date "pillar" fan, mini fridge, and tea/coffee making facilities. The beds in particular were incredibly comfortable, and also extra long. (Clearly the management has invested in up to date furnishings, rather than the corridor carpet etc.)
Also great value for Basel and good WiFi. I would absolutely return.
The theme of old setting but new fixings continued in the bathroom. The shower walls had noticeable mould, which has a slight smell. But the shower was large enough that you could use it without worrying about touching the mouldy parts.
We had a room facing the street, which was fairly noisy overnight, since we had the windows open with the heat. Mainly church/clock bells, and trams/sirens in the street outside.

Very good location
Old hotel, room and bathroom needs renovation. There is no air conditioning and it was hot in the room.

Located between the two major train stations, most things in Basel are within walking distance. We got a Basel card at check-in so we got free public transportation during our stay and discount on museum entry fees. We got to check in early and a free baby bed.
The housekeeping overlooked a piece of underwear from the people that stayed in our room before us.
Nobody told us how to get in when the front door is locked. If we hadn't bumped into a staff member, we would've missed breakfast after an early morning walk.
Interior, esp. furniture, has seen better days - decades ago.

Very clean. Location perfect.
loud noices from corridor late at night, they woke us up. Other than that all was Ok.

Good location.
Andrea served us very well at breakfast
There was not anything to complain about.

Good location
Cold room and no parking

Breakfast ok, good coffee, location very convenient, close to hospital so a few sirens now and then, but double glazed windows help with noise, shower was broken, hand held only in our room, mattress a bit old could do with replacing. Would be great hotel with some some upgrading
Mattress a bit old, bathroom really needs an upgrade, shower over bath with broken shower hose holder in our room. Otherwise a very convenient location.

Too noisy outside and inside doors slamming. And the parking space is limited. So I had to drive around Basel looking for one.

excellent location good staff.
No coffee in room.

We got an early check in, location is good, free local transport a bonus
Can hear your neighbours easily (luckily mine were practising the violin well so no biggy)

Location, bus access, roomy

the location
Too less choices for breakfast and expensive for paid breakfast

Good location, short walk from the main centre. Basic but clean rooms.
Requested reserved parking as stated on the page and was assured parking was reserved, upon arrival was directed to street parking, it appears they have no parking of their own so is falsely advertised and was one of the key reasons for picking the hotel as we were on a banger rally and keeping the car nearby was important. When out in the evening we wasn't told that the hotel door would be locked after a certain time, luckily we had a mobile phone to ring a contact number and obtain the entry code for the number lock.

very clean and a central location. Comfy beds. Breakfast good.
Air conditioning would have been a benefit! Close to tram tracks so a little noise from 5:30am onwards. Very basic, and a little tired overall.

It's a nice hotel.
The published information is not correct. There is NO parking on site. I would not have stayed had I known. Very unhappy about it.
3.6
Nice bathroom, very helpful staff.
No AC. I do realize this SHOULDN'T be needed in Switzerland, but with climate change.... We had to open the windows to let the room cool enough so we could sleep. So we stayed away till late evening, while dealing with jet lag. Not the best scenario. We stayed July 5th.
