Pros: location to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Size of the house for large groups was great. We enjoyed seeing the bears - maybe too many? lol The bears were not at all afraid of us and walked right up to the porch and over the gate while we were on it.
Cons: would have been nice to have dressers in the bedrooms and hangers in the closets. Between all 6 bedrooms we found 5 or 6 hangers to share. We had to live out of our suitcases for the week.

Wonderful vacation home. Bears were a little worrying, we had a few in the backyard several times.
Driveway was a bit crowded for five vehicles and Savage Road would be improved if a few mirrors would added to help with the very tight turns.
10.0 / 10.0
The house was excellent, plenty of beds and bathrooms. The view of the mountains and the town were amazing, and the town was only a short drive away. The visiting bears were exciting.
8.0 / 10.0
Overall the house and property were nice. Great location & proximity, saw bears about every day. However, there were some things about the house that should be noted to future bookings
First, the bedrooms, particularly the downstairs two bedrooms, are much smaller than they appear. There are no dressers in those rooms and no room for one. There are no closets. It's a tight space. All of the bedrooms were a tight fit. Even the living room looks much larger in pictures than it actually is. There is one sectional couch in there and not room for another couch. Nice, but tight.
There were several maintenance issues which had not been addressed recently. The day we arrived, multiple toilet seats were loose to the point of falling off the toilets, the sliding door to the porch was nearly impossible to open (adults had to help the children), lights were burned out. Nothing major, but obviously not tended to closely between groups staying there.
Lastly, there were centipedes everywhere on the bottom floor, and they were making their way to the upper floor as well. We probably killed more than 300 in the 4 nights / 5 days. It was constant. We had kids ready to sleep on an air mattress and couldn't do it because of the bugs. I did contact the owner of the house and she sent out a maintenance person to spray around the house within a few hours, but it didn't help for the remainder of the trip.
Overall, it was a nice house to stay in, but like most VRBO homes, it had it's issues.

We booked the lodge for our wedding and had family from South Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania! We had 7 kids stay with us. It was the best time!! We first got there I was doing a tour of the house and saw a bear on the property, We saw the bears many times!! We will be back!! The hostess was amazing and helpful!! Thankful we could use their house for our special time!!

There were 17 of us total, five were children! The house was even more beautiful in person! It was plenty big for my family and met our needs. I will definitely be going back next year!

This property was amazing and suited our gathering perfectly. Location is super convenient, views are fantastic and that swim spa was amazing. We had campfires, watched the bluebirds, played cards and just relaxed. We ziplined, coastered, had a dinner with pirates, and shopped til we dropped. The house was equipped with everything we needed to make our big Easter dinner, brunches, late night snacks. The dinner table sat all 10 of us together! The bunk rooms in the basement were a great escape for the 5 kids...they were 4 teenagers and an 8 year old, but this vacation let them relax and be kids again. They giggled and told stories and had "sleepovers" and had good old fashioned fun. The adults each had their own space as well, bathrooms for each bedroom which was perfect. Beds were very comfortable and furnishings all very country. There were 2 dishwashers so we were spoiled!! Now i want 2 dishwashers at home. This is one of my favorite places we have stayed. Definitely would stay here again if we come back to Gatlinburg. Thank you so much!

Perfect location in Gatlinburg, on the edge of the Smokey Mountains with an amazing view from almost every room. The house had plenty of space for our family of 10. Very clean, comfortable beds and furniture and everyone enjoyed the huge hot tub overlooking Anakeesta. Quiet and peaceful outside space for our dogs as well as a fire pit. Located close to the only trail in Gatlinburg that allows dogs for our daily walks. Convenient little store at the bottom of the hill, to pick up food, snacks, drinks and adult beverages with a gas station next door. We had a great time exploring the area for a week vacation. We also enjoyed relaxing and cooking breakfast and dinner in the kitchen. Eva was very easy to communicate with and we had no issues or problems with anything. We hope to come visit again soon.

Overall for a big group, it's the perfect cabin! It's a short drive to town but you still have a good view of the mountains. It's easy access to the park being on the south end of Gatlinburg, which our group liked. The pool/hot tub was a favorite- it's easy to use and is a good size for the five kids we brought with us. I will note that the living room is considered a 'bedroom' and it's where the sofa sleepers are. Keep in mind that if you plan on cooking/utilizing the kitchen, I suggest bringing extra kitchen hand towels, as there were only a few supplied, and we could only find one oven mitt. The two upper rooms in the house do not cool as much as the rest of the place, but do each have a ceiling fan. Overall it was a great place and we will be booking here again when we plan another Gatlinburg trip!

This place was very beautiful, and in a great location. The host was very communicative and helpful with anything we needed. We did see bears which was the highlight of our trip. The house was very accommodating, and spacious with lots of windows to view nature from inside. The outdoor area was well lite…we used the fire pit and they provided wood. This house had everything we needed including a Christmas tree. It was 11 of us and we were super comfortable. I will say this when the trash outside gets full, you have to go to across the way to dump it for free… it closes at 4pm and the others closes at 6pm just keep that in mind.
We will be returning 5⭐️’s!!!!

There were 17 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed Hoobear Lodge during our family vacation! Cabin was beautiful and clean. Host was quick to respond to any questions we had and took great care of us during our stay. There were lots of reviews about how steep the road is to the cabin, but it really wasn't bad. Just take it slow and it's fine! Lots of bear sightings which the kids, old and young, loved!
8.0 / 10.0
The road to the house is paved but extraordinarily
steep with a hairpin turn and drop offs. The good news - it a short drive up the mountain from downtown. If you are aware and can be prepared it is manageable. If you are not expecting it, it is terrifying. You can walk to downtown but it is not feasible with kids. On the positive side, the house is very nice. It is comfortable and had plenty of room for our group. The mama bear and triplets are worth the trip. We saw them every day. The kids loved the hot tub - we could not get them out. Be prepared to launder lots of towels! Once you get there, it is a beautiful and enjoyable spot! Fun was had by all!

Without a doubt the best cabin in Gatlinburg.
Super easy access to downtown with countless attractions, restaurants and the host Eva, the treatment was excellent. Super easy communication and attentive to our needs.
We will be back soon, thank you for making our vacation a dream.
Thank you Eva.

Perfect place to stay for a large group! We went for our Christmas in the summer with all kiddos and grands. Within 30 minutes of arriving a mama bear and 3 cubs came up from the woods and walked all around the yard and driveway! So exciting and Made the trip for us all! We enjoyed the pool/spa, the large kitchen and family area and having our own king suites with bathrooms. The only thing different than we expected is it would have been tough to walk downtown with the steepness of the drive. A bit longer and steeper than expected. Overall though—very clean and a great place where we made some awesome memories! Thank you for the rental!! Would definitely book this lodge again!

We had 6 girls stay for a girls trip. We saw a Baer 2 of the days- which was super cool. The hot tub was awesome, the house was beautiful, and the walk downtown was a nice feature. There is some construction going on down the mountain that could get pretty loud at times (not much you can do about that!) This house is amazing and we would definitely go back!

We had 18 people stay here together for our daughters cheer competition. It was the perfect set up and location to the convention center and down! Great time was had by all! We even had a visit from a bear!

We needed a cabin close to gatlinburg strip and Mt Leconte. This home was the perfect location! Very spacious and well suited for a large gathering. All the bedrooms are private and have their own bathrooms which was really nice. The property is beautiful and upscale decor and amenities. We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back!

This place was beautiful! Perfect for 6 adults and 9 senior high school kids! Looks just as pictures suggest! Host was accessible and quick to respond! The only challenging thing about the property is the long, steep, narrow driveway to get to house! We walked it up once and we’re done lol! But would not stop me from going back! Great access to downtown gatlinburg!

Our church youth group stayed here during a youth retreat, and the property was wonderful! We had space to spread out, there were plenty of beds for our group of 15, the hot tub was a big hit with the students, and the nice quiet area around the cabin was very peaceful. My wife and I brought our 1 and 3 year old children, and the amenities they offer were wonderful. There were multiple Pack n Play cribs, the high chair was easy to set up, and our baby monitor reached anywhere but the basement from the far upstairs bedrooms, which let our kids sleep while we played games together.
The hosts were FANTASTIC, Eva usually texted me back on the VRBO app within the hour, answering all our questions! There were multiple times that she reached out to me, just to see if we needed anything, which was very kind and thoughtful. This was the most hospitable family we have ever worked with on a property rental app; you can tell they care about their guests. I can tell you that your group will be treated very well if you book with the Hooie family.
Our only downside to the entire trip (where I left 4 stars instead of 5) is that the first photo in the ad says "Walk to downtown Gatlinburg." While it is certainly the closest cabin we've ever booked, the road leading to the cabin is incredibly steep. Our group did not feel comfortable walking to the convention center, so that is something to plan for: driving and parking each trip to town. I mentioned that to the host after our stay and she said that many guests still choose to walk to downtown; our group didn't feel comfortable with walking down/up that steep, one-lane road, especially at night time when our events were ending.
Other than that we had a marvelous time, and we are already planning to stay here next year!

Could not have been a better family trip. We had unseasonably cold weather so some downtown shops were closed but didn’t damper the trip at all! Easy access to everything and the house could not have been more perfect for us to celebrate Christmas. There was 14 of us and we all had our own space but loved the main floor for gathering!

We’ve been coming to the Smokies over Thanksgiving for the past forty years and HooBear was easily one of the best places we’ve stayed. The layout was perfect for our group of 5 couples and 5 kids. Being so close to Downtown and the Park entrance allowed us to avoid all the traffic. Kitchen was well stocked and the kids loved the swim spa. And, of course, the daily visits from bears made this a trip we’ll never forget. We will be back!

We had a wonderful stay in this property. It's very conveniently located to all of the the Gatlinburg attractions, but is private and remote enough to not feel like you're in the hustle of it all. We did hear and see bears around the cabin each day. The kids loved the pool table and the adults loved the swim spa and there was more than enough room for 15 members of our family to stay comfortably. The owner was very responsive and we really enjoyed being able to spend time together at this house.

Beautiful cabin absolutely no complaints there! Had a few little issues with the electrical flickering often especially when starting the dryer or hair dryer. The road leading up was terrifying and should maybe come with a warning, I have high car anxiety so I had to walk up and down and have people pick me up at the bottom, my legs are definitely feeling that walk up. The hot tub was a little tricky to figure out, one of the jets was spraying water everywhere and we couldn’t figure out how to just turn those off. We did see bears which was amazing! I loved how much was supplied for use at this cabin, there was everything you need for cooking and dining plus the 2 dishwashers is genius! All in all we had a great time!

Family reunion with 17 people- great time!! 5 master bedrooms with bathrooms . Downstairs bunk beds & bathroom with pullout couches up & downstairs. 3 levels in house & 2 living areas. Large outside spa. Pool table & video machine are kid sized so a bit disappointed in that. Family was able to spread out & kitchen is really big into living/dining area. Grandkids saw lots of bears & loved that!!

Quiet and relaxing!
This home was great for our family. We loved the separation, the hot tub, and the 2 dishwashers. We did not see bears on the property, but we saw them as we drove up or down the road. We did see evidence that they were on the property. It was very quiet and felt isolated even tho there were places above and below us. We stayed over a week and would have liked more dressers. Overall, it is a wonderful place to stay.

Torbet family vacation 2022
We had a great time at Hoo Bear Lodge. We had 4 Bear sightings during our stay, which we all really enjoyed. The lodge was comfortable for all
of us. The kids had the lower level to play and sleep in, which gave the adults the main floor for relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.

Bears bears bears
The property is amazing ...the owner was very prompt on response plenty of room.....the bears made it very hard to enjoy the outdoor amenities if you are traveling with a disabled person confined to a wheelchair you have to be ready to run from the bears at any moment..the hill to reach the property is very steep it will test your driving. .other than the running from bears every couple hours this house is amazing

Beautiful home in a great location
This home fit our family well. Kitchen is well equipped. House was clean & comfortable. We fully enjoyed the huge spa pool. No bear sighted, but we did have a bobcat in the yard one afternoon. There was firewood for s’mores around the fire pit. The front door lock was simple & very easy to use. Cozy and enjoyable stay.

Smoky Mountain Getaway
The Hoobear Lodge is a very nice property with spectacular views. We really loved the open concept main area and the fire pit area. The main reason the cleaniness and overall rating is not five because the fire pit chairs were down the hill when we got there because of a storm and the swim spa was not clean. Our host was quick to respond and get this taken care of.

See the bears and enjoy your family
HooBear Lodge was exactly as described-- convenient location, high probability of seeing bears that live in the vicinity, plenty of space and accommodations for large groups, and themed, high-end decor that puts this property over the top in comparison to others that you might consider in the area. The kitchen is fully stocked with any appliance or tool or convenience necessary to prepare meals. The bunk room/game room area downstairs is perfect to allow a group of kids/teens to have their own space and will keep them entertained for hours on end. This property is one of a kind and I would highly recommend it to others coming to Gatlinburg.

Lovely place!
We really enjoyed our stay here! The house was very clean and the pictures in the listing are just as the house is! We would definitely stay again!
There were a few small things I felt the kitchen was missing...a crockpot, salt and pepper, sugar, coffee filters and cooking spray... but that's small things that would just make things a little easier.
I would recommend bringing extra trash bags, paper towels and toilet paper if you're staying more than a night.
I would also recommend bringing non slide slippers or flip flops to wear inside, several of us slipped in our socks a fell of the inside steps, lol.
If you plan on using the swim spa as a hot tub I would recommend turing the heat up on it as soon as you get there.
Traffic in town is horrendous so go to the store on your way in our early in the morning!

This property was amazing!
Our family came together and there was plenty of space to do all that we wanted. With each room essentially being a master, my parents, me, and my 4 siblings were all able to get together in one house with our little families of our own. It was magical.

Absolute perfection
Cannot say enough about this house. It’s big yet cozy, private yet close to everything, modern yet still with that cabin feel. We saw bears 2 of the 3 days walking right by the house twice. Bear sightings were the highlight of our trip! The house had to have been done by a designer. Every single detail is so well thought out & literally perfect. Each room in the top 2 levels has king beds & it’s own bathroom and with a large group we could not ask for more. Loved every minute. I’d love to return again & stay even longer. Owner was responsive & pleasant to communicate with.
