INFO ABOUT DOUGLAS LAKE
Douglas Lake, also known as Douglas Reservoir, stretches out over more than 28,000 acres and 500 shoreline miles in eastern Tennessee. Douglas Lake is conveniently located near the intersections of Interstates 81 and 40, approximately 25 miles east of Knoxville. Nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Douglas Reservoir is close to the tourist communities of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. Most of the lake's shoreline is privately owned farmland and residential development.
Douglas Reservoir provides flood control across the Tennessee Valley. The reservoir stores melted snow and spring rains for release during the dry summer months for power generation and maintenance of navigable water levels on the Tennessee River. Water levels on Douglas Lake can vary 40 to 50 feet from low winter pool to high summer pool. The lake reaches peak pool (which allows for the Lodge's dock to float) from approximately April through September, though this can vary.
Although built for flood control and power generation, today Douglas Lake is a major recreation destination attracting two million visitors a year. Twelve public boat ramps provide lake access. Fishing, boating, water sports, swimming, and bird watching are popular lake activities. As water levels drop during the summer and fall, shore birds, wading birds, and other waterfowl flock to Douglas Lake to rest and feed along the shoreline's shallow water. Birdwatchers enjoy the migration from late July to early October.
Anglers flock to Douglas Lake for catches of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish (channel, blue, and flathead). Late winter and early spring also provide excellent fishing for sauger, walleye, and white bass when they make their spawning runs to the reservoir's headwaters. Although most game fish sustain a healthy population, occasional stocking of smallmouth bass, white crappie, and sauger supplement their numbers.

The property was well kept and everything seemed to be in order while we were there. The whole family had a blast enjoying the lake and the nearby attractions.

We stayed at the Lodge for our annual family vacation and were not disappointed! The spacious Lodge held our big family with plenty of room to spare. The bedrooms were well sized and had dressers and areas to hang clothes. The bathrooms were also very amply sized, had plenty of storage space, and included hair dryers which was one less thing I had to pack.
We spent a lot of time in the well equipped kitchen and were so grateful for the 2 refrigerators and freezers. There was plenty of room to cook and store food and drinks. The gathering room was big enough for all 20 of us to eat together. The gathering room and downstairs living area also had games and a pool table that we enjoyed tremendously. The house stayed nice and cool during the 80 degree days even when we were using the kitchen.
We loved the deck space and outdoor private dock and rented jet skis and a pontoon for a day. It was close to the grocery store and a Dollar General for anything we needed while we were there. We spent time utilizing the basketball net in the spacious driveway and didn’t have to maneuver around the multiple cars parked there because there was so much room.
The hosts were so responsive with any questions that we had. Check in was a breeze and the check out procedures were simple. Trash pick up was smooth, there were ample trash cans that were picked up during our stay so we never had any issues, if you’ve traveled with a big group, you know how important that is!
Thank you!

We do a big family vacation yearly. Finding a place that houses 27 people (12 adults and 15 grandkids ages 7-17) is always a struggle. This property was above and beyond the best place yet. Huge kitchen and dining area with everything we needed in the kitchen. Family living space was great as well as the bedrooms.
Upper and lower decks with lots of seating-hot tub on lower. Dock space was small but we made it work. We rented a pontoon for 5 days and between swimming, fishing and tubing kids had plenty to do. The house was very clean-very happy with it. Owners were great and responded promptly to questions/needs.

Because of a graduation at C-N, we decided to make it a family affair. We have dispersed family members all over the south from Texas to Virginia and all areas in between. We don’t get to see each other near as much as we like and this was a perfect opportunity to do so. Flights into Knoxville were convenient and the drive was easy enough for all those to get to. The layout was great and provided individual family spaces as well as area to accommodate group activities. We played basketball and corn hole, used the grill, and went hiking. The hot tub was well used by all and kept it temperature even when the ambient air was in the twenties. The location made it an easy drive to pigeon forge for family fun days. The gps took us straight to the spot. Great stay all around!

Every year my siblings and I bring our families together for a vacation. We have always used campgrounds and such to accommodate our large group. This place may become our new favorite spot. There was enough space so we could spread out. The multitude of bathrooms kept us from fighting for bathroom time. The large kitchen allowed us to prepare dinners for the whole group with ease. The lake was beautiful. While there are other houses close by around the lake inside was quiet and peaceful regardless of what was happening outside. Highly recommend this space for anyone who wants to have a large group stay together with space.

Check in was very easy and the cabin had everything we needed. This cabin was the best choice for our wedding. The cabin itself was very clean and there was enough room for all activities. Even before our stay there was very good communication with the host. GREAT CABIN!!

My family had an amazing time here!! We had 27 people ranging in age from 5 months to 69 years old and everybody had a blast! The kitchen was spacious and made it easy to cook for our large group. The dining room was huge and had plenty of seats for everybody and space for the kids to play and run around. They even had a toy cabinet that the kids loved!
The swimming was fun and easy to get to. We did have some trouble with the ladder being loose on the dock but once we contacted to owners they had someone out the same day to fix it.
Overall it was a wonderful vacation with family and we are definitely considering coming back again!!

Wonderful lake trip
Our group had a wonderful time at this property. The property was very spacious and the commercial kitchen made cooking meals for 14 adults a breeze. The owner was very prompt in any response and made sure we were enjoying our stay. It is very peaceful and was perfect for a relaxing weekend away. We have rented other properties before and this one was the best yet. We will be back.

Room for everyone!
The Lodge was wonderful for our multi-generational family trip. There was enough space for everyone to have privacy when they needed it, space for eating big family meals, cozy spots for down time, wonderful access to the lake & tons of games and little toys were available to keep the kids entertained.

Highly recommend The Lodge at Douglas Lake
This was such a wonderful accommodation for a group of 8 friends with 7 children under the age of 7. The lodge was spacious, with wings and rooms that allowed for families to have their own space while still sharing the many gathering areas. The industrial kitchen was such a welcome part of our stay with so many people preparing meals . There were also several toys for the kids. The boat dock was great and there is a little area for kids to play in the lake but it is fairly rocky. Overall we loved this lodge and would definitely bring our group back in the future!!

Excellent for Large Groups!
This place was amazing for a large family 50th birthday party weekend! This place is loaded with things to do and ample space to spread out. We really enjoyed hanging down by the lake, playing corn-hole, walking the trails, using the hot tub, and playing all the games (pool and pacman). We really appreciated the well stocked kitchen and enjoyed being able to all eat together in the large dining hall. Great fun for the whole family. The only improvement that could be made to this place might be some newer mattresses and pillows. All in all, we all had a great time and would definitely recommend this place. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay.

Great location! Parking was perfect for two boats and trailers!
This property had more than enough room for our family. We had two boats and had enough parking to even turn them in the driveway. The dock at the lodge didn’t have electricity so we were unable to leave our boats at the dock due to charging our batteries. Other than this issue our stay was perfect!! Would definitely recommend this property for large groups!

Wonderful Retreat
We had a wonderful time here! The cabin was awesome and really gave our high school and middle school students many places to run around. The land and lake were really with it even though we came in April. The kitchen was awesome and we had a great time! Everything went very smooth! Thanks! (Also enough parking for a bus and other cars. The drive is a bit tough but I did it with a 32 passenger bus with a trailer on the back).
