****We have just purchased new items (2021) paddleboat with canopy, 2 kayaks and a shuffleboard table (to go along back windows in sunroom). There is a new 55" smart TV in the foosball room and a 50" TV in the upstairs bedroom.
**** Please bring your own linens and towels or request the linen service for a nominal laundering fee. Community can close any amenity at their discretion, including lake usage. Homeowner is not responsible for this and will not offer refunds or discounts for any non-usage; includes weather related closures.
Our property is listed very reasonable to rent as we do not have easy access down to the lake in comparison to neighboring properties. The walkway is steep and gravel. We do not have a lighting down to the lake or a dock. We hope someday to make this improvement but no plans of now. For now, this may actually be a benefit for some who are wanting to save money on a vacation rental.
Firewood is available in the community for a fee. This is something we do not supply as we have not been able to find consistent suppliers who deliver.

8/10. Overall the property was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed out stay. The property was clean and well maintained and provided all the amenities needed for a week long get away.
Improvements that would go a long way and increase the rating would be the following:
The walk from the house down to the deck is steep, with no nighttime lighting. There was a review stating that stairs were being installed but they were not. All of the surrounding houses have steps down to the lake and a dock for boat/kayak launches which would really enhance the property.
Providing a paddle board to enhance the lake experience would be enjoyable.
The 2nd bedroom frame felt like you were going to fall through it.
The carpets/mats were curling a lot on the edges and provided a trip hazard. It would be recommended to tape them down.
There also was no firewood provided which would have been nice, or at least indication that it was needed to be brought.
Again, overall the week was very enjoyable. The amenities in the neighborhood (beach, courts, golf, lake) are top notch. The lake is very calm and relaxing, the sunrises are beautiful, and the house was comfortable for a party of 5. I would recommend staying here!

Beautiful property and well-appointed! The location is ideal in a quiet cove. We found every aspect useful and enjoyable, from the sunroom to the deck and grill, to the fire pit, kayaks and paddleboard. Even life jackets were provided! Our group of 7 (5 adults and 2 children) was very comfortable and enjoyed our stay!

House was clean. View was lovely

The house is located directly on the lake with a beautiful view from the fire pit area. The neighborhood is wonderful with many great amenities. The house has a queen size bedroom on the second floor, as well as a loft with a full size sleeper sofa. On the main level is another queen size bedroom, and a full over full bunk room. There is a four seasons room that the listing shows has a sleeper sofa. However the room smelled of mold and we spotted it in two locations. Because of the mold we had to switch our sleeping arrangements and the foosball table was unusable as well. They have a moisture absorbing bucket in the room but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick. The hill to access the lake is very steep with no lighting and lose stone to walk down. The neighboring homes all have steps to access the lake. Other than the black mold and path to the lake they really have something great to offer.

The house was great and my family had a really fun time playing shuffle board, fishing and paddle boating. There was enough beds for everyone. Thank you so much for having us at your home. The only issues or recommendations I have is the shelves to the fridge door kept falling off and adding some lights on the path to the lake would be helpful.

Excellent experience.

Nice property for two families. Lots of fun on the kayaks and fishing; fire pit at night etc. Great location just a few minutes away from the action of Lake Wallenpaupack, but ability to return to the relaxation of The Hideout. Wish there was a dock and stairs down to the lake. One step on the stairs outside was also loose.

House was well appointed and it accommodated our family of 6 nicely. Our kids enjoyed kayaking and floating around in the alcove of the lake. You don’t need to pack much because Weis supermarket is adequately stocked. Just bring your sheets, towels and extra toilet paper. You have to dispose of your own garbage but the guys at the recycle center couldn’t be nicer. The snack bar is not open at the pool on Mondays and Tuesdays. We recommend picking up the Hideout paper when you first arrive so you are aware of activities and events. Pass on the clubhouse restaurant, service is slow and food is sub par. Overall a great vacation!

THIS PLACE DOES NOT SLEEP 10 - 8 IF YOU ADD THE UNCOMFORTABLE FUTON
The place was well kept and clean but the 2 major problems we had were
1. THE PLACE ONLY SLEEPS 7, AND 8 IF YOU COUNT THE FUTON which was extremely uncomfortable
2. The UPPER part of the bunk bed was not secured to the lower one. It was just kept on top. It only had a connection at one end. We had to remove the beds to sleep and then put them back by the end of the stay. VERY SAD!

Autumn Retreat
The home's location on the lake has stunning views and we spent several afternoons on the spacious deck enjoying it. The home is warm and cozy as described. The kitchen is a bit dated, but all the major appliances worked well. The new couch in the family room is very comfy and was great for watching movies on one of the rainy days. We struggled a bit with the operation of TV remote controls and heating thermostats and suggested a sheet of instructions for each would be helpful.
The location is an easy drive to Hawley and Honesdale (about 20 minutes) and under an hour to Bushkill falls. The Hideout's 9 hole Golf Course is very good. The restaurants we enjoyed are Glass-Wine.Bar.Kitchen at Ledges Hotel; Der Jaeger, Dock on Lake Wallenpaupack and Wallenpaupack Brewery.

August 2021
Enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room for family members to have their own space and yet be together as a group as well. Furnishing were very nice and comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Washer and dryer were handy and there was always enough hot water. Those using the bedrooms on the first floor raved about the spa shower! Large screen TVs, foose ball and shuffle board was a plus.
Steep path to the lake was tricky and stepping out of the lake without a step, beach or dock was difficult. Fun using the kayaks and paddle boat. Watching the eagles all day across the lake was awesome.
Enjoyed using the pool and beach at the community center. Snack bar items were reasonably priced and delicious. Staff working the snack bar were friendly and courteous. Enjoyed our stay.

Family getaway
The description of the property was accurate: I was told 5 beds, a futon and a pull out couch; problem was the futon and pull out were both unbearably uncomfortable AND the futon is in a porch with no shades, so sun wakes you up early. Also, bunk bed and twin in that room are noisy, maybe bolts need tightening, the whole thing shook and creaked with every roll over.
Was disappointed to find no dish soap and no dishwasher detergent and only 1 roll of toilet paper in each room. And the shelves on the fridge door were broken so our stuff fell out each time we opened it.
The peddle boats were a nice treat, but they were on the shore filled with dirty water...yuk.
Last note: the shuffleboard table was fun, but a set of rules would be nice (we Googled it) and we didn't find the wax in the hidden door until packing up the last day.
Overall, the property was nice (very steep path to lake and no dock), house was comfortable, but not suitable for the 7 adults we had.

Comfortable, peaceful lake property
This peaceful retreat on the lake was perfect for our 3-generation family. Property is exactly as described, pictures are accurate and we were not disappointed. The Hideout community offers many amenities, some of which we were able to sample (pool, clubhouse), many of which will have to wait for another time... we kept plenty busy at the house, enjoying the waterfront, taking the kayaks and paddle boat out on excursions, watching the bald eagle family who nested nearby, fishing off the property (no dock yet), and nightly gatherings around the fire ring. We recommend Weis Market for groceries, Hunter’s Gallery for bait and tackle, Paws and Claws for a unique zoo experience, and Nurnberger Bierhaus, Kay’s Italian, Drafts, Overboards, and the Clubhouse for casual meals out. Reservations are key, many spots are also closed Tue -Thu.

Nice short stay
It was a very nice house and accommodating. Boat and kayaks were great. Only recommendation ( have a backup plan if it is rainy) that there is not much to do if it is rainy outside and a lot of the restaurants/ bars are closed on Tuesdays.
