Professionally designed. Four steps into modern Scandinavian cafe kitchen. Tiled terracotta floors. Blended stucco walls. Two fireplaces -- candles only though! The space
Ideal for a few couples on holiday, GW family, or World Banker on extended work trip. Lovely private entrance just off 21st street. Amazingly functional living space with all modern amenities. (linens, towels, voice activated TV remote with many movie channels, utensils and cookware, private laundry etc.) You'll love it. Walk down four steps to the unexpected kitchen (more cafe than kitchen) welcomes you with a beautiful curved concrete bar and tall stools. Perfect for a starter course or drinks before you step into the heart of the apartment -- the blended stucco walls of the living room and blue terra-cotta sunburst in the fire place always get an admiring “wow!” from visitors. Step directly into your romantic private patio through a floor to ceiling glass door or nestle on one of two sofas with a good book while candles burn in the fire place. Come bedtime - retire to the master bedroom with a king sized bed and fire place. If you are not a couple and need the space just de-latch the bed feet in this room and you will have two single beds. The smaller bedroom has a terrific queen bed and finally the living room common space has two sofas that fold forward all the way and then flat back to give two more singles. The linens for all beds are in the large bedroom. Serious cleaning protocol & disinfecting!! Airbnb has partnered with experts in health and hospitality to create an enhanced cleaning protocol that helps support us hosts as travel evolves. We follow it religiously. Cleaning is a serious business for our family to be sure you are extra safe when you stay with us.

You have full use of a terrific private patio too adjoining the house anytime you like... including a second larger gas grill. On site parking is possible too but it's first come first served so reserve right away - $25 a day (cash on arrival) Park on the left side. Contact us if you need to store stuff before checkin at 4PM. The small red shed is also our kids playhouse. If you have little ones - or a young spirit - please enjoy it and all the drive way toys, bikes, slides etc... too, as you like. Just keep a close eye on the children so they don't get hurt.

This was easy and close to where we were working. Our host was amazing, and the place was clean and accommodating! Would absolutely stay again. Thank you!

Good location for walking and Metro. Variety of restaurants.

Great location and communication is great with the host. Place is a little old and the accommodations show it but it was still comfortable enough and served all of its purposes. Definitely recommend.

This was our second stay in past 3
Months at this property. We had 3
adults so we stayed in the 2
Bedroom apartment. The location is perfect for our needs to be in both Georgetown and in DC proper. The beds are VERY comfortable and having a big living room is a huge plus.
Tedd is an Awesome host. Communication is clear and easy with host.
Would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants great location and comfortable accommodations.

The photos on the vrbo site were carefully staged. The smoke alarms were dysfunctional when we arrived. There is no fire escape. The door on the dryer falls off. The patio was tiny and looked unsafe; the overhead latticework was falling down. There were no flowers as in the photos. The grill mentioned in the listing was a crumbling charcoal grill. There were only 2 unmatched glasses in the kitchen and the dishwasher was not clean. Multiple pieces of the decor were damaged. There is no light on the steps down to the front door; we had to use a flashlight to find the key. The bathtub would only allow for showers.
Tedd did respond quickly to our requests for smoke alarm batteries and more towels, but overall our experience was not what we had hoped for. With all the hidden fees tacked onto the listed price, we could have enjoyed a lovely stay at a nice hotel.

If you're looking for a DC basement apartment in a great neighborhood with consistent air conditioning, this apartment will work for you.
For us, a family of four who needed to use facilities such as a dishwasher, washing machine, bathtub, etc, (all listed in the listing) this apartment was very disappointing. We arrived to find dirty dishes, mold in the coffee maker, and a kitchen lacking in basics such as glasses (we later found them in the broken dishwasher) and a cutting board. Tedd was nice, and left the key for us in door. But when we tried to put the key back into the lockbox (his instruction was to always leave the single key in the lockbox), it was difficult/impossible to use. We couldn't reliably put the key in, knowing we would be able to lock it in and get it out at the end of the day. The bathtub didn't work for baths -- we needed to fill it using the shower and a piece of plastic from the kitchen as a stopper. Even basic things like the lamp in one of the bedrooms were broken, and there were few/no drawers/closets.
Tedd was very personable, and we dealt with him primarily in relation to the parking. Be aware that by renting his parking spot, he may be parked behind you, so you can not necessarily move the car when you need to.
For us, this apartment was uncomfortable and very disappointing, and we made a decision not to spend our vacation asking for help and trying to fix all the problems. Our time in DC was too valuable to us for us to spend it focused on our rental.

I would normally not leave a review, but I was told by VRBO customer support team to share my frustrations.
We can tolerate a wide range of accommodations, and we have stayed in some primitive places, but this rental was by far the least maintained, least cleaned, and most inaccurately over sold in the description. Individually, we could have overlooked the leak stains on the ceiling, the peeling ceiling paint, the unfinished nature of the basement apartment, broken doors, old moldy and stained shower curtain, unpatched holes in the ceiling and walls, duct tape wall repairs, thick layers of dust (this was the deal breaker), nasty condition of the kitchen and microwave, the state of the "private patio," old trash in the bathroom, the improperly stored paint (city code violation to store paint in a residential closet) , the lack of a reasonable functioning heating system ( we were given 2 small space heaters that were inadequate for the entire place) , broken dryer door, and so much more, but in total and especially because of the dust, it was no longer safe for my family to stay there.
We called and texted the owner to tell him we were leaving , had to scramble to find a safe and clean place to stay during this Thanksgiving week, and the owner did not respond. Radio silence.
Prior to starting the rental, he was responsive, helpful, and accommodating, but as soon as we had a major problem, he became unavailable. Instead of apologetic of remorseful, he ran away from his duties and responsibilities. Very frustrating and disappointing.

We've stayed in VRBO rentals all summer, roughly half a dozen to date. For this one, we could have stayed in a hotel for the same cost in the same neighborhood, but chose this because it had 2 bedrooms. However, the space is basically a basement apartment and we entered to find a large chunk of peeling paint in the kitchen, dark rooms and decoration throughout, more peeling paint and missing mosaic tiles in the bathroom decor, a moldy tub and shower curtain, rusty microwave, and security bars over the windows and door... so our kid ended up feeling better sleeping in our bed anyway. The place seemed clean but we felt better placing all our food in the fridge in case it would attract any unwelcome small visitors, especially since the neighbor's entrance was overflowing with garbage (which can't be helped). By comparison, we stayed in a renovated 1800's urban apartment at our next stop in Cincinnatti which was very bright and well kept, and was a pleasure. I really hope the owners take some time to fix this place up since it has such wonderful potential with its location near Dupont Circle. As it is now, we would have preferred to share a room in a hotel instead.

Ted the manager was very positive but the property needs a facelift. The stairs to our basement apartment had no hand rails except if you hung on the railing for the upstairs apartment which were falling off. I would not recommend staying here. During our stay repairs were made to the house’s main water main which meant we had no toilet and I had to take myself to a nearby restaurant. Someone unplugged the refrigerator so no place to keep our meds and drinks. This was discovered by Ted immediately but we didn’t notice the refrig was not working when we arrived the night before. The place was not properly cleaned when I opened the microwave it was filthy.

We rented this from Tedd for a mom/daughter get away. It’s in a great area, very close to the metro and lots of places to explore. Tedd was very accommodating and gave several ideas for places to eat and things to do. We didn’t stay much in the apartment but it was comfortable and what we needed. It’s in the basement so it stays nice and cool at all times.
