+Amazing views. Simply unbeatable location.
+Bed was very comfy
+Very friendly staff
+Amazing food and great menus (to an extent, which is discussed below)
Fynbos on Sea has probably the best view from any accommodation I've ever been to. Unrestricted views of the Sedgefield Lagoon and Ocean is simply breath taking. The decor was also top notch, and the bed was very comfy. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. We were also treated to top notch dinners every night, and the breakfast was also decent (although the breakfast option remained the same every day).
-The staff were very friendly as mentioned, but the attention to detail just simply wasn't there. Many times we had to wait very long for service, or had to eventually go and find someone to assist. This has to be my biggest complaint. Many times the dining area was just simply EMPTY (in terms of staff). Staff kept rotating on a day to day basis and a lot of the times, they did not know the menus ("I'll go ask" was a response). Some staff were more knowledgeable, and others not so much. The accommodation is lacking a front desk / concierge service. There is also no phone in the room so you always need to go into the main building for assistance.
-My wife got food poisoning (as well as another lady staying there) from one of the meals. When this was brought to the staff's attention, we were just told "all of our food is prepared fresh" and "sorry about that". One person getting sick is a pity, but more than one person is more than a coincidence.
-We asked for sandwiches to be made (while my wife was sick), as well as toilet paper (because it was never replaced by house keeping) and this never happened. We had to ask again for toilet paper later that night.
-For some reason house keeping kept wanting to come through the sliding door. There is a front door to the room for a reason! No respect for privacy in this matter. Also no do not disturb signs available
-We had no hot water on one of the nights, and the shower was only half working (wasn't fully connected yet... ok). Was a twin shower but only one shower head was attached.
-Lack of a general manager presence was very obvious.
-No easy access plugs next to bed. It's 2022. You NEED to have travelers in mind.
Based on what we paid to stay, we just feel that it wasn't worth it.
I do understand that this is during peak season, and the cost to an extent justified this, but I will not be in a rush to come back.

I would have liked to have a bath and shower

I was double-charged for my stay at the hotel. I pre-paid the booking, prior to the stay. By the time of my stay, I had forgotten I previously pre-paid for the booking. During check-out, the hotel manager presented me with an invoice for payment, which I paid. Later that day, I discovered the double-charge issue and sent an inquiry to the hotel. I was told by two different hotel staff that they would look into the issue and respond. But no response was provided. Very disappointing experience.

Unbelievable position and views!
Well designed and luxurious.
More about improvements: better staff training (couldn’t understand our request for two separate, single duvets), which was requested on our application form, bathroom (room number 4) - no hooks next to the shower to hang the towel, and better handling of the payment - we have been charged by book.com and the lady at Simbavati insisted again on a payment, as apparently the first one didn’t reflect on their system. We still hope to get a credit. Not sure from whom….

A very professional and friendly service. Nothing was too much effort. Everyone greets you from the gardener to the front of house. Keith and Protea farm was a lovely experience. Awesome guide!
It is a beautiful spot, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Simbavati, the hotel is situated on a hill with the most stunning views of the river and ocean. The staff was lovely and very helpful, food was good and they have mountain bikes you can take to go on a biking-safari in the reserve.
It is quite pricey

The staff is extremely friendly, the views are amazing and the food (both dinner and breakfast) very good

The food was excellent
Noisy kitchen door stemming near to our room

We had an outstanding experience during our one-night stay at Simbavati. The genuine friendliness of the staff and the private lodge setting on top of the hill are uniquely welcoming! The view from the pool is even better than in the pictures and the little hike trail around the property almost ensures to encounter with some wild animals like zebras and types of springboks. Lots of activities to offer and an amazing food experience for breakfast and dinner!
Nothing to add! We got some rain on the second day but even then it was hard to complain about anything.

Fabulous location and view. Rooms beautifully done. On the whole food very good and good range. Surrounding walks were also great.
Rooms need screening as often people working right outside, takes away from relaxing feel.
Lack of attentive staff - felt sorry for the 2 lady servers who were attentive but rushed off their feet whilst others stood around which lead to delays. Felt like we were overlooked as 2 younger couples only staying one night, which was a real shame.
Arrived and asked if it was possible to have a light lunch as previous reviews had suggested lunch there was good, had to ask this a second time as was forgotten and was then turned away as kitchen had closed. No other suggestions of places to have lunch were given.
As a suggestion, it maybe worth saying dinner is 6-8 not 9, as we assumed we could sit down for our meal just before 9. However at 8 we were told we needed to sit down as the kitchen closed completely at 9.

What a great experience, the management and staff were fantastic. They went out of their way to ensure we had a calm, well fed relaxing break. My wife was ill (nothing to do with the hotel) while we were there and the management went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.
Thank you Ant and Yolande.

The slamming of the kitchen door was irritating.

Beautiful location with amazing views, rooms are well maintained and very comfortable. Friendly staff and a hearty welcome each morning from management.
The breakfast and dinner meals are off a set menu, the menu doesn't change expect for the chef special, which is added in daily, so if you stay for more than one night you might have to eat the same meal over and over again, that was rather disappointing. Be prepared for a long wait to have breakfast, coffee and tea take about 15-20 minutes to arrive, if you lucky (it seems foreign visitors do receive special treatment), and the waiter remembers to place your order....The variety of food and lack of vegetables needs serious attention.

Excellent staff. Great views. Well appointed rooms and lovely food!
Lots off devils thorns around the property. you need to take extra care not carrying it into your room. Luckily our mountain bike’s have tubeless tyres.
