About this house rental
The name “Inside Out” came about to describe this immersive experience where boundaries between you and the forest dissolve, leaving you with a sense of tranquility and connection. Wake up as the sun rises to a view of the dewy forest through the wall-to-wall glass doors that fold open completely, where there is no transition from the inside out. The optional wall-to-wall screen provides a sense of security in this intimate sanctuary while still allowing the cool breeze to flow into the house.
The space has flexibility for whatever you desire most in terms of experience. Feel like outdoor living? Then open the glass doors completely and immerse yourself in nature. Feel like doing a Zoom call for work? Then close the glass doors, let everyone else play on the deck open your laptop, and focus on work for an hour. The cathedral ceilings and large windows create lots of light and space. The ceiling fan keeps the air going for a comfortable time inside. The kitchenette with an induction cooktop is a great way to cook your own meal without heating up the entire space. Or, you can do traditional BBQ on the grill and enjoy the solitude of the trees.
From the parking area, go down the set of stairs and walk straight back to the deck on the walkway on the side of the house.
The house is a duplex. The entry door is on the back deck. The front unit is separate so please do not use the front door! There are no shared walls with the second unit. There is a closet, hallway, and storage area between the 2 spaces.
The neighborhood is quiet and it’s about 5-7 minutes driving time to the Village.
Please make sure to follow the sign with arrows to West Victoria Court (not East Victoria Court). The address numbers are on the main post of the stairs as you park in front of the house. Walk along the side of the house through the gate to the back of the house for entry.
A generator is on site so there will be no annoying power outages that are so common in this area.
About the Area:
Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, and Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, and snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed and low-key energy “vibe” making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, and body and to reconnect with family and friends.
We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes and have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area.
Big Bear Lake is a public lake and friendly to all types of boats and water sports and is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike and walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City and is more populated with stores, restaurants, and nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a “desert” feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip.
Lake Arrowhead is a private lake and is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have permitted guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity “lake access” will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront and is the main area for shops and restaurants and has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours and rentals. This area has more of a small town and alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler and gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter and is hotter in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes and narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch and a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead and Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory.
Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events and locations “down the hill”. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, and boat, kayak, and canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area and the water park and no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed and more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, and thrift stores.
Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline and Lake Arrowhead and is convenient to both lakes. It has its restaurants, shops, and thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal).

My husband and I got out of the Arizona heat and spent 4 nights at this cute cabin. The patio was adorable and the inside was clean and inviting. We sat around the fire each night and chatted about life which is always my favorite time to just relax and reconnect. The neighborhood was quiet and we had a full moon so the views were amazing also! We enjoyed our stay.

Really nice place in a quiet neighborhood. Situated well so you can take loops for walks that are challenging after a long day but not advanced by any means. Quiet place, friendly neighbors and the check in process is most streamlined and straight forward. No issues. Will gladly return.

Excellent place for a romantic getaway! Beautiful lil Casita that feels like your in the woods with a large deck that open up from your room with bifolding doors! Its the best of both worlds. Living inside and out all in same place if you wish?! Super clean and accommodations and rental company went far beyond our expectations. We will for sure be returning again. We even extended a day it was so relaxing!!!!!

My partner and I needed a quick weekend getaway and this property/host more than accommodated us.
We loved looking out the wall of windows at the beautiful forest outside.
We greatly appreciated that this property is pet friendly so we were able to enjoy the weekend with our doggies.

No lights were on and it was completely dark when we arrived so it was very difficult to find the right key box. Stairs and walking path were covered with 4-6" of wet, slippery snow (although it had not snowed that day) which made it treacherous to get around. (Correction, the only lights on were large string lights in front of the house right in front of the house number.) We also had to do a little shoveling to be able to park safely out of the roadway.
We had to drive 10 mins back down to get a cell signal to ask for help in gaining entrance only to find a voicemail stating that someone would call back in the morning. When we DID get someone on the phone, she clearly responded that it was our fault that we couldn't figure out which key box to find the correct key in (in the pitch dark) because directions were clearly stated in the very long info listed in the VRBO app, which was problematic in the dark with no cell signal.
When we got inside, we found that all remotes needed new batteries, that we couldn't figure out how work the TV (no directions), and that there are reading lights above the bed whose switches we never found.
On the morning of our checkout, we tried to make English muffins in the toaster oven, but it set off the fire alarm which is hung so high we couldn't reach it to reset it. I guess the toaster oven needs to be wiped out so this doesn't happen to someone else?
Was the bed comfy? Yes. Good water pressure? Yes.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights and we loved this cabin! The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we slept well. The part I loved best was the large open deck with a pretty view of the trees. It felt like a cozy tree house in the in the middle of the woods. The white lights on the deck were a nice touch in the evenings. Located in a quiet neighborhood which was exactly what we needed to relax and destress. The home was acceptionally clean throughout with all the amenities you'll need. The home owner kept in touch with us during our stay. She was helpful and kind right from the time I booked our stay. Thank you Lisa! It was an amazing experience.
I recommend this awesome place.

It’s a compact place however the extension into a large outdoor space made it magical. It was so peaceful and quiet as if we were camping out in the woods but in total luxury. Loved the large sliding doors (with screens if you prefer) that opens up into a large patio. The kitchen is one of the most complete I’ve ever seen in an VRBO/Airbnb with an air fryer, instant pot, rice cooker and even a lemon squeezer. This place is run by real professionals that has thought of everything. Can’t wait to go back!

A wall of accordion windows, expansive deck, dog friendly, and beautiful views is what you get when staying here. It’s absolutely wonderful! It’s extremely clean, well organized, and each amenity has a functional use. Don’t hesitate! We’ll be back for sure!

We visited for the fiest time and this home was a lovely way to start, what we feel, will be an annual tradition. Lovely, well appointed home with an amazing view above the trees.

We had 2 lovely days together seeing and hearing no one at the inside out cottage but the trees and birds and sun. We easily cooked in the room as it was stocked with all the appliances we needed saving us from going out. We also found the area around here to be great for good hiking. This was exactly what we were looking for.

Great concept with the sliding glass doors so your room becomes part of the deck and you are truly inside/out.

Cute little studio stocked with everything I needed for a short stay. They even had an air fryer combo and an assortment of other appliances in addition to the induction plate. Everything was nice and clean, including the tub which was perfect for a nice bath. This place is dog friendly too. The only downside was the parking spot due to weather. There was a large pile of old snow covering the designated area and it made it difficult to park over it. Luckily I drove a compact SUV with 4WD so I didn’t get stuck. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and stay here again! Maybe next time in the spring or summer to take full advantage of those beautiful folding doors.

Wow, what a fantastic spot! This perfectly appointed gem is up high on the hill in its neighborhood and, although relatively close to activities at the Village and Skypark, the only views out the windows are tree tops. You get the feeling of seclusion, but have great access to Arrowhead. A perfect combo.
It's worth pointing out that the deck is HUGE and just about doubles the usable space of the cabin. We went in late fall/early winter and with the morning sun were still able to enjoy our morning coffee on the deck surrounded by the trees. The views and the serenity are just wonderful here.
The efficient interior is so thoughtfully outfitted. We were even able to make a simple but satisfying thanksgiving meal for 2 in the kitchen - even though it's compact, the kitchen has all the bases covered. The induction plate also makes really quick work of boiling water (even standard full-size stoves struggle with that at altitude, so the induction plate is quite impressive). I had no problem making a stew from scratch with it one of our evenings.
Even better, this cabin is managed by an actual legitimate professional. That difference makes check in and out so smooth, and you can see a professional's attention to detail throughout the cabin: the little placards with the wifi details, the thoughtful touches. I wish more places were managed with such care.
I totally recommend this spot. 10/10

Awesome Little Cabin!
My husband and I had a great time at this cabin for his 40th birthday. We rented it for two nights, and it was perfect for us. Had everything we needed to make small meals in the cabin and spent the rest of our time at arrowhead Village. Definitely be prepared if it is snowing or if there is ice/wet roads. The cabin is on a steep hill and you will definitely need chains or four-wheel-drive in snowy conditions. Would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the deck.

Peaceful sleep and view
Perfect getaway in this studio sized unit with a view just like the pictures! I woke up to this picture perfect view with birds singing, after sleeping very comfortably in the bed. The deck is fantastic and I used the bbq for cooking. Would definitely like to book this newly remodeled place again for a longer stay.
