The Neighborhood:
The house is located in the historic Lafayette Square, considered the oldest urban park west of the Mississippi where you can walk to world-class restaurants and sip coffee at delicious cafes and visit nearby Gateway Arch, Forest Park, and Enterprise Center—home of Stanley Cup-winning St. Louis Blues.
Like a picture out of a Victorian novel, Lafayette Park’s flowers, natural grasses, towering trees, waterfalls, fountains and iconic iron bridges provide a peaceful backdrop to the city.
Within Lafayette there are craft breweries; specialty shops; Park Avenue Coffee, which features original small-batch blends; quirky and one-of-a-kind restaurants; yoga and art studios; wine, chocolate, and rooftop bars; a bistro; and a must-try ice creamery.
If you are lucky enough to be in the city at the right time, there are annual neighborhood festivities that are fun to visit including an antique fair (June); Cocktails on the Plaza (July); Movies in Lafayette Park (summer); Taste of Lafayette (August); Tour De Lafayette/Gateway Cup Bike Race (Friday before Labor Day); Tricks & Treats on Park (Saturday before Halloween); the Holiday Tree Lighting (second Saturday in December); and the Holiday Market (second Sunday in December), which features roasted chestnuts, spirits, and crafts.
Take a walk through the neighborhood and admire the 150-year-old two and three-story Victorian mansions commonly referred to as the “painted ladies,” surrounding the lush 30-acre Lafayette Park, the oldest urban park west of the Mississippi.
There is something for everyone to enjoy in beautiful Lafayette just 2 miles from Downtown St. Louis.
Getting Around:
The best way to get around is by car with most highways conveniently nearby. You can also use the Metrolink light rail system to get to many major attractions. Metro's efficient light rail system offers stops throughout the city.
St. Louis also has both UBER and Lyft available. You'll also see lots of Lime and Bird electric scooters throughout the city, so you can zoom wherever you'd like!

House was HUGE, plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, yet gather together for mealtime!
Comfy beds with plenty of linens.
There were no kitchen towels (used bathroom hand towels)
One remote had to be shared for all 3 TV's spanning 3 floors (step goal was hit for certain)
Historic home and neighborhood close to all the attractions

The only thing I was not happy about is that maintenance never came and fixed the garage door. Everything else was good. Wouldn’t mind booking it for next year’s trip.

We were looking for a rental that would comfortably hold 3 couples and 5 children. This house had three bedrooms on the second floor with king beds in each. One had an en suite full bath. On the third floor we’re three trundles and large sectional sofa. The other full bath is located on the second floor and there is a half bath by the back door. The kitchen was large with an island in the center. The dining room had a table with 10 chairs.
There were a number of TV’s in the house with many streaming apps. The carport has an alley access with a garage door.
The house is on a corner and, in some places, less than a foot away from the boarded up house next door. The decor was quite interesting. The master bath was pink and purple with a mirror ball and tinsel stars hanging from the ceiling. If you like eclectic decor, this is the house for you!
Oh, the stairs creak. It was nice to have the large washer and dryer.

We had an amazing time at this house! It was large enough for 12 people and we had plenty of room. Everyone had their own space! When we come back to St. Louis we will definitely stay here again!

Location was amazing! It was very easy to navigate! Enjoyed an amazing lunch at “Eat Crow” and a dinner at “Square One” in Lafayette park. Home was very clean- had everything we needed! There were 12 of us, and we all fit very comfortably kids and all! Thank you for allowing us to make memories with family from OH and OKC! ❤️

We chose this property for the 2nd time because of the private enclosed parking. There is a garage door and fence separating the vehicles from the alley. I feel much more secure having the vehicles enclosed and not out on the street.
The house also has a playground for the children.
This house is very spacious, we have stayed here with 9 people and with 7 people. It has all the things we need for a nice trip to St. Louis to see the Arch, Zoo, and City Museum. ( We are grandparents, and we stay here with our married kids, one family at a time.)
We have booked it again for later in April.

Great experience! Our family enjoyed the eclectic decor and room to spread out as we celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday. The beds were comfortable. Parking was a bit of an issue since we all came in separate vehicles. The place was decently clean but I gave a 4 instead of 5 star review because there was coffee left in the coffee pot from previous guests and change scattered on the countertop which made me think they hadn’t been wiped down. Overall a great weekend with family though!

Where do I begin with this house. I'll start with the number one thing that disappointed me. These people changed the entire house before we came and never bothered to notify us. What do I mean by change? They painted the house these awful dark and shocking colors, adding a whole bunch of inappropriate pictures everywhere. ( mind you they said kid friendly) I went back to the app to see what happened and they still had all the old pictures up . Nothing was painted. No dirty pictures. It was a nice white and bright home. The next morning when I looked they changed everything on the app. The second issue was that of privacy. No curtains or blinds in almost all places even the bathroom! We took the linen and covered all the windows. Third, the playground, which was one of the main reasons why I got this place was broken. The only thing useful was the slide (what fun!) Fourth, this place was super dirty. Seriously beer cans on the window outside, cigars in the backyard, dusty floors, spiders hanging from their webs, dirty pile of laundry on the floor in laundry room, no dishwasher soap, I could go on! Fifth, half the house's lighting fixtures didn't work. This place was a whole different in the morning vs night time. At night they only had a few lights working. We had to make due with bathroom and closet lights how unfortunate. Out of all the houses I have stayed at, this was the worst. Never staying here again or getting anything from this company again.

The house was so clean and spacious. Loved the decor and architecture. Plenty of space for all 13 of us to spread out yet still enjoy time together. Loved the crib and high chair were already there as saved us on packing.

The house was great. It’s a lot of space so our group could spread out. I would recommend it and stay there again. My only complaints are around cleanliness: the kids who slept in the 3rd floor room all came home covered in spider bites, the mattress pad on my king bed needs cleaned or replaced - it had other people’s hair on it, the kitchen sponge and scrubber smelled like mildew, and in general the vacuuming and dusting really needed redone. With that said; everything worked, the kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the house was decorated well.

3-story turn-of-the-century house
July 2022: We and our son's family stayed here for 4 nights during our family trip to St. Louis.
The interior was beautiful and very clean, with brand new kitchen and bathrooms, stylish furniture and wall colors. Very high ceilings. Nice pots and pans in the kitchen.
On the second floor there were 3 huge bedrooms each with a king size bed. One of those was the master bedroom which had a wonderful bathroom. There was also a bathroom off the hall for the other bedrooms and a half-bath near the kitchen. (total of 2.5 bathrooms.) On the third floor there was one large bedroom with 6 twin beds for the children. We could see the Arch out of the 3rd floor bedroom window.
Very close to the St. Louis Arch, St. Louis Zoo, City Museum.
There was a garage door opener from the alley, so two cars were safely parked inside the fence under a carport.
The door to the basement wasn't locked so some family members went down there, and said there was nothing to see, it was basically unfinished down there.
There was a play structure in the large backyard. I guess my only complaint was that no one had weed whacked around the play structure so the weeds were high, but it didn't matter since it was over 100 degrees every day and the children couldn't play out there in the heat.
We had a nice time and were very satisfied with the house.

Great all-around!
Great place for all ages, a nice up stairs for the kids (ypung n teens) A playground outside for younger kids. Nice living areas for adults to relax also. This is definitely the place for anyone/everyone and especially families! Location was easy, close to Hwys, close to downtown, close to Lafayette Park and all the community has to offer. Loved it and will stay here again when in St Louis!

Stay at the Gate
My family enjoyed our stayed at The Gate. The property was very clean and in a great location by Lafayette Park. We gave 4 stars rather than 5 as there were quite a few hiccups that needed to be addressed. It seemed that we may have been the first renters as there were no lightbulbs in lamps, pots or pans, the oven didn't work and some fixtures fell off the wall. The owners/management was very responsive and tried to remedy anything that was overlooked as soon as we told them about it. We chalked this up to being a new property and I am sure these issues will all be resolved for the next renters.
