About this apartment rental
Benefitting from a recent refresh (March 2024) the apartment offers fantastic accommodation for a family or groups of friends. Number 2 Hazeldene is a two-bedroom apartment that sleeps up to four people, just a short walk from North Sands beach.
Under new letting management for 2022. Pleas see previous reviews below.
Just outside the main town of Salcombe, it’s perfectly placed for a 15-minute stroll to the shops, cafes and restaurants in the pretty sailing town, but it’s also just a few minutes from the beach as well.
Hazeldene is on a hill just up from the water, which gives you fantastic, elevated views from every room. You enter the first-floor apartment and just off the hallway you have the first bedroom – a spacious twin with an en suite shower room, its own balcony and a view of North Sands.
Continue down the hall and you come to the master bedroom, which has a king-sized bed, plenty of storage, an en suite bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, and once again it has its own balcony with a view of the sea.
The open plan living, kitchen and dining area includes comfy sofas and a dining table for up to six people. The room is flooded with natural light thanks to glass doors that lead onto yet another balcony, this time with a small table and chairs for two and once again with views of the valley stretching down to the beach.
There is also a shared lawn to the side of the property that you are welcome to use.
Recommended for: The apartment is perfect for two couples, a small group of friends or a family of four looking for a bolthole near the beach.
Favourite feature: The views from this apartment are superb – you would be hard pushed to find better in Salcombe.
Need to know: Parking in Salcombe is at a premium and this apartment comes with two allocated parking spaces adjacent to the property.

"Hazeldene was a perfect base for our coastal walking holiday."
Accommodation was comfortable, convenient, warm, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Views from the lounge and kitchen were spectacular. We aim to return in the Spring. Thank you.
"This was a fabulous first floor location in a large property located part way up a the side of a hill in a very pleasant suburb of Salcombe with an outstanding view from two accessible south-west facing balconies of the nearby South Sands beach and the English Channel as far as the horizon, especially enhanced when the sun was shining."
"We had a lovely break and the views are stunning from the flat."
"The flat was lovely, especially the view."
About a holiday in Salcombe
Salcombe is a historic fishing and sailing town that has become famous as a holiday destination because of its natural beauty and its local charm. Blessed with more beaches than you can visit in a week, a jaw-dropping estuary and magnificent walks along the South West Coast Path, it’s also filled with local traditions. For example, there’s the Town Regatta, excellent sailing opportunities, its own gin and ice cream factories. In fact, Island Square sits opposite Salcombe Gin Distillery, which has a bar overlooking the water serving gun cocktails as well as excellent coffees. You can’t leave without sampling the town’s unparalleled clotted cream fudge, visiting the magnificent bakery and restaurants such as Captain Flint’s and The Winking Prawn (next to North Sands beach), which have practically become a rite of passage for visitors

We have stayed at this property before. The fact that we came back says something!
The stunning view remains the same, but the replacement of dining chairs, as shown in the picture at the top of this review, with benches we found less convenient. The pictured bottle of wine was absent!
A few minor bits of maintenance are required, but overall
it is very comfortable with good facilities. We would be happy to revisit.

Fantastic view but the appliances needed a lot of updating especially in comparison to the other flats

The apartment couldn't be lovelier and in such a superb location, the views from the balconies are stunning.
Everything was clean and in good working order when we arrived and it was easy to get the key.
The apartment is just a ten minute walk down the hill to the nearest beach and restaurant - The Winking Prawn, and about half an hour walk from Salcombe Harbour which has plenty of nice bars, restaurants and chi chi shops. It's a bit of a slog walking back up the hill but it's a good way to work off the crab linguini!
We would definitely stay again.

The property was nice and the view fantastic. That’s said during the night a loosely fitted mirror fell off the bathroom wall when I was in the bathroom and badly cut my foot. Not only did the landlord fail to apologise but they tried to charge me for cleaning up the copious amounts of blood I lost that went into the carpet.
