About this house rental
Real Santorini is not Fira or Oia. The main villages of Santorini are found in the center of the island in places naturally protected against pirates on the hills or carved into the side of small ravines.
One of the most characteristic of them is Vothonas. Although most of the houses are recently built, many ancient cave houses can be seen around on the sides of a river -Ancient ravine waiting for reconstruction.
The village is inhabited mainly by locals who work on the vineyards and other tourist activities in other parts of the island. The main advantage of this village is that it is almost in the center of the island so access to many beaches, from the airport, to the boats from the commercial port, the capital of Fira are all at distances of 3 -5 km.
My house (carved and built on rock, 500 year old house) consists of two large cave rooms connected to each other by a small domed cave corridor. Furniture is simple as much as possible, the beds and sofa beds are made of stone and covered with large ecological mattresses.
For the very high season and for the benefit of friends, the rental is offered at our internet rental (with houses in Crete)...myhousetorent...Where you have to see prices and conditions... The living room is a large vaulted space is on one side a seating area with large cushions, capable of accommodating many people.
Years of meditation and wonderful parties on the terrace have filled this house with vibrations of sweetness and love. From the terrace you have an unlimited view of the vineyards and at the end towards the sea.

Sophia’s house was wonderful. It’s a short drive to anywhere on the island, but still remote enough to help get away from the big crowds. Sophia was a wonderful host and provided us with suggestions all over the island. We are so thankful she opened up her property to us and would high recommend it for anyone else looking to stay away from the big crowds.

We were so happy to find this house which made for a great trip for us. Staying in a village was a fraction of the cost of staying on a beach or caldera (which we’d done before). Vothonas has authentic real-Greece charm. The house itself was spotless and comfortable and had plenty of room for 4. Sofia was very kind and accommodating. We would stay here again.

Our first trip to Santorini
This lovely cave house situated in the centre of the village , a short walk from the supermarket with plenty of parking space near to the property was in every way perfect. A wonderful large terrace with sea views was ideal for the G and T's at sunset. A fully equipped kitchen was superb for evening meals after a day of sightseeing. Together with a wonderful host, we would recommend this property 100%.
