We traveled to the UK from Australia & decided to have Christmas is The Lake District region.
North Lodge in Cockermouth was the perfect house for our family group of 5.
The kitchen was excellent and well equipped with everything we needed to cook Christmas lunch . It was very warm & cosy too .

Lovely comfortable house in great location
There were mice living in the house which was a bit of a shock to see running around and leaving droppings. They had obviously been there for some time as someone had blocked a hole up with a plastic bag. Letting agent didn't get back to me after reporting this and offered no compensation.

This is a lovely property and in a nice location and we generally enjoyed staying there. However, as I mentioned in a call with the property managers, there are some safety issues that must be addressed. There is a dangerous step leading from the first bedroom to the bathroom and, because of this, my wife fell in the night and broke her arm. There should be some safety tape or some type of warning to show the step clearly. We noticed the dangerous step when we moved in, but still had an accident. There also should be a night light or some sort of better illumination. Also, the bathtub in that bathroom has very steep sides, a slippery base and no hand rails. There are serious problems which must be addressed, especially since many people using this house will be retirees. One other problem is that we couldn't get the stove top burners to light even though the oven worked. We called about this and got no assistance from management. Again, it is a very nice old house, but these concerns need to be addressed before someone else is injured or greatly inconvenienced as we were.

North Lodge is a lovely property and very stylishly decorated.
The spacious accommodation is the sort of place where you immediately feel happy and at home. The room with the wood burner is cosy and there is a record player (and choice of records) which was a lovely addition to this special place. The kitchen was well equipped and conservatory lovely for family meals. Unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough to sit outside but it looked super! The house is on a road which came as a little bit of a surprise but as it's on the edge of town, there is very little traffic noise. We highly recommend North Lodge.

Beautiful home, perfectly located, 10 minute walk to town and very quiet street. Perfect to go to the pub for a few and not worry about driving home. The house is great. Everything was supplied. Downstairs shower is amazing! All in all a great place to stay with a family. Walkway from the driveway to the front door is very dark at night so beware if there are elderly people staying. (Smartphone flashlight very handy in this case. ) Backyard is a great place to park oneself on a sunny day. Just love the grouse roaming around everywhere. I highly recommend !

North Lodge- very british

A Spring Delight
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the restful North Lodge, the accommodation is extremely comfortable and tastefully decorated with a huge amount of care taken.
The Lodge is an easy walk into the restaurants and shops of Cockermouth and made a great base for visiting the Northern Lakes.
An excellent property full of charm.
If arriving in the evening the path between house and drive is unlit and has a few small steps, some small lights would help.
