Green Door Cottage is cozy, charmingly decorated, comfortable and well equipped. It has all you need for cooking. The living room was a comfortable gathering space for the 4 of us. We used the electric fireplace for the ambience and for a little bit of heat on the chilly mornings. There is a large TV with ROKU (which we did not use). The hosts are friendly and very responsive.
The location is PERFECT for walking to dinner and shops in Custer and day tripping to Mt. Rushmore, and Custer State Park. I highly recommend driving the Wildlife Loop, Needles Highway, and the Iron Mountain Road (start from the south near the Custer State Park visitor center for a great distance view of the presidents). We enjoyed the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, an active paleontological dig site. Sauce and Dough pizza was very good and Skogen Kitchen was excellent (needs reservations).
Don't hesitate to book Green Door Cottage!

This home in Custer was perfect for us exploring the area. It had all the comforts home and was clean and cozy. We enjoyed being able to walk to town for meals when desired, especially after we'd done so much driving.

This home was perfect in so many ways. It is in the heart of Custer City but very private. The house sits on the upside of the street on an elevator that allows you to keep the window shades open and enjoy the outside deck with total privacy. We had everything we needed for a week. The amenities are well maintained and great quality. We look forward to staying here again soon.

Everything went smoothly with our stay at this home. Check-in was quick and easy. Check-out was done with minimal effort, which got us on the road home earlier than expected. We were able to walk to several restaurants and the shops in the center of Custer.
The bedrooms were perfect and the beds were comfortable. Despite the temperature almost reaching 100 degrees, the house was comfortable.
Would like to stay there again when we go back to the Black Hills.

Cute little cottage. Great location. Centrally Located. Supplies were sufficient as indicated. Note to future guests- it is a pretty hilly area, so be prepared for that. Steps up into the cottage so could be an issue if knee problems. Could have been a little cleaner. Wet runner just thrown out on back deck. Kitchen and bath floors sticky. Kitchen was very disorganized with lots of mis-match stuff. The downstairs "bar area" was beyond sketchy! It is just a dark basement, but the cash register was cool. LIGHTS/REMOTE - I did text the owner and let him know that there were 10 lightbulbs burned out and none of the remotes worked. We did replace 6 necessary light bulbs and batteries in one of the remotes. With a deep clean and some organization, I would stay again.

This was our first visit to South Dakota. My son and his family met us in Rapid City where we rented a car to head to Custer. This house was the perfect location! My son and his wife were able to walk into town at night to listen to music and get a drink while I watched the grandkids! All of us could walk downtown to breakfast or dinner. It was a great little town that had something for all of us. The house was perfect. We had 8 people and slept comfortably. We were able to cook and eat in when we wanted because it was stocked with all the proper cooking items. We were also able to wash clothes with the washer and dryer which was perfect with little kids. I was excited that the bathrooms had walk-in showers. We had my Dad and I didn't want him to fall, so this was a great amenity. The house was clean which is the first thing we all noticed, and it is important to us because we have two family members who are OCD. The house had a cute basement which would have been perfect for watching football if we visited during the Fall, but the location was so perfect that we spent most of our time outside. I was able to take the grandkids to the park just up the street to play on the swings before turning in at night after a day of adventure. The owner had plenty of literature for us to review that helped us plan our week. There was still so much to see that I know we will be back and this house will definitely be used again!

This was one of our best VRBO properties. The house was very clean, comfortable and extremely well supplied ( including toiletries and games) for a family of 4 adults and one child. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Adam, the owner was very attentive and communicated frequently before, during and after our stay. The location is perfect for exploring the Black Hills. All restaurants were within walking distance and Custer is a pleasant town. I would highly recommend this property for up to six people. We hope to stay here again on our next visit.

What a nice property! Home was everything we saw and read about! Walked to dinner every night due to its great location! Less than a 10 minute drive to the park! Great location

We had 5 adults stay here for a wedding in Custer State Park. This was close to everything in town as well as all the major tourist attractions in the area.
The house was clean with everything you could need while staying there. The only thing we thought it could use was more/brighter lighting, but it didn’t deter us from a great stay.
Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

The Green Door cottage was the perfect choice for our visit to SD. Custer is a delightful town and is located close to Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, the Crazy Horse Memorial and Custer State Park. It was easy to explore the entire area from the cottage. We could walk to main street shops and restaurants. The home was VERY clean and VERY comfortable. We cooked in a couple of evenings and had all we needed including a nice grill. Highly recommend.

I, and another adult family member, stayed for 4 nights. The house was everything as described and reflected in the on-line photos. We only needed to use 2 of the 3 spacious bedrooms— and slept well. The house is just off of Mt. Rushmore street (main drag) so walking is an easy option for downtown Custer.

This wonderful cottage far exceeded our expectations. The home has an inviting, creative unique western decor. It was great to relax together in the evenings after a busy day of hiking and adventure. It was also very quet and comfortable and we all slept well.
The location in Custer, SD was great too. It was an easy drive to get to various hikes, Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave and Jewel Cave. The location within Custer was close to everything you might need (dining, groceries, church etc.).
Adam (the owner) was responsive and proactive. He provided good ideas/advice about things to do in the area and kept in touch with us to make sure our stay went smoothly. We had no issues during our stay as the property is extremely well maintained.

This was a perfect spot for my husband, his brother and Dad to stay while they were out Elk hunting! Andrew was more than accommodating when it came to road closures and terrible weather that impeded on them making their way out! The day extra stay was greatly appreciated! House was clean and very nice!

Had to go into Custer for business. Location of this property is very convenient for Custer, about one block off of the main street in town. Property was clean and had all that was needed for a pleasant stay.
Thanks

Perfectly located in the center of Custer, this cozy cabin feeling home will capture your heart. 3 full sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms were perfect for our group of 6. Games in the closet, everything we needed was stocked and check in was a breeze. Adam was very attentive and responded quickly on questions. We will def look at this property for future stays!

The Green Door house had a comfortable couch, chair, kitchen eating area and bed. Granted we were two people staying in a three bedroom house but we like having the space. The kitchen table had fold down leafs. The house was especially well-appointed in South Dakota decor! The location was convenient to shops and restaurants. We went the second week in October. Many of the stores and restaurants had sporadic hours. Being close to the town made it easy to find open establishments. Custer too is centrally located to many of the outdoor attractions.

Green Door Cottage was the perfect location for our stay. The house was impeccably decorated, the rooms were comfortable, and the kitchen had all we needed for fixing breakfast each morning and having dessert each evening. The location made it easy to walk to shops and restaurants in Custer. Perfect spot to take day trips to Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park and even to the northern Hills. The host, Adam, was very helpful and communicative. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay at the cottage. It is extremely clean and decorated so cute. We had everything we needed. We had three couples on our trip and the house was the perfect size. We enjoyed grilling and eating on the patio. We walked downtown for shopping, coffee and eating. We will definitely be staying here on our next visit to Custer!

Very quaint, well equipped, clean, excellent centralized location to reach surrounding activities. Within walking distance to downtown…grocery, coffee shop, saloon, and shopping. Communication was excellent with homeowner. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our 4 days in this well-equipped and nicely decorated house in Custer SD. The bed was very comfy, the kitchen was well equipped, and the host provided thoughtful extras like laundry detergent, basic spices, coffee and frosted beer mugs. Close to Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, the Needles Hwy and Custer State Park the house made a great base for exploring the Black Hills area. As an fyi, there is a room air conditioner in the upstairs bedroom but no central ac (we were comfortable since temps cooled down each night), and while there was plenty to watch on the Roku, you will need your own streaming account(s) to access live tv/sports/news.
We would stay here again.

I had a really great stay here with my family! I researched so many options and landed on the best one. The location is perfect and central to everything. There’s plenty of space, it’s super clean, has everything you could need. It’s truly a cozy home away from home. The owner Adam is so welcoming and he and his wife are such a great hosts. We couldn’t have asked for a better location! We’ll definitely book another trip.
