Astoria is gritty, and likes it that way. But that rustic exterior is just a cover for the many enchanting dichotomies you’ll find waiting around the next corner. Here, fisherman are poets, loggers drink espresso, and Main Street welcomes both nouveau gallery and five n’ dime.
For Astoria, it’s about character, and it’s also about characters: the people who call this place home with a passion that borders on evangelical. The skipper who challenges the same mighty river his great grandfather once fished. The artist who migrated here in search of a new palette. The hotelier who resurrected a once-bustling pier.
Astoria is that little town that could, a city of 10,000 people on the Columbia River, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Founded 200 years ago at the beginning of Oregon’s North Coast, Astoria has been through boom and bust times more than once, weathering the collapse of both the Columbia River fishery and Oregon timber industry. It has risen once again as a cultural haven, often referred to as “little San Francisco.” Astoria is an old place that is newly hip. Here, Victorian mansions and maritime relics live in harmony with chef-driven restaurants and tattoo parlors.
Astoria is a port city founded in 1811. It is the oldest city in the state of Oregon and was the first American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains.
The county is the northwest corner of Oregon, and Astoria is located on the south shore of the Columbia River, where the river flows into the Pacific Ocean. The city is named for John Jacob Astor, an investor and entrepreneur from New York City, whose American Fur Company founded Fort Astoria at the site and established a monopoly in the fur trade in the early nineteenth century. Astoria was incorporated by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on October 20, 1876.
Parker Landing is surrounded by Youngs Bay and Youngs River: Youngs Bay is a body of water just west of Astoria, Oregon, and east of the communities of Warrenton and Hammond. It receives the waters of Youngs River and the Lewis and Clark River. Youngs Bay is surrounded by Astoria, Oregon, Coxcomb Hill and the Astoria Column, and Saddle Mountain. Youngs Bay is crossed by U.S. Highway-101 (Highway-26), from which there are good views of the Coast Range, Saddle Mountain, and Astoria, Oregon.

Comfortable and cozy stay on the water. Relaxing place to stay with good wildlife viewing on both sides of the unit. Easy access to everything we planned to do in Astoria. The second bedroom (bunkbeds) is a bit cramped for a teenage boy.

Parker’s Landing is a beautiful spot close to town but just off the beaten path enough to feel like you’re in your own little world. The space was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Watching birds from our deck (eagles, cranes, egrets, etc.) was truly a highlight. We would definitely stay again.

The stay was peaceful and accommodating with a view of the river. Comfy beds. The room with bunk beds is small but comfortable. The heating thermostat in each room was a plus as it was cold in Astoria. Easy drive into town. Would highly recommend it.

The place worked great for myself, my wife, and son. We used it as a base to visit extended family. We saw heron and a bald eagle out on the water of Young's River from the unit. When there was a small issue at check in, the owners quickly remedied it. Overall a good experience.

Great, comfortable house.
Very quiet, comfortable house. TV had all the apps and was easy to use. Washer and dryer were great and new. Comfortable beds and very clean. Only downfall is the location. Not a great view and it’s a drive to anywhere you go. You also can’t go to the front of the property. This rental is on the side so the view isn’t great.

bayfront rental
The owner Amy was wonderful and she stocked the room
with very good choices as a hostess to her property. It was a
great location and very close to town but private at the same
time. She was great! My only suggestion would be to have a
guide of how to use the tv, coffee maker, etc. The only problem with booking was the booking fees and the lack of consideration of the booking agent. Quite frankly, very rude and inconsiderate serivce that was provided.

Great spot
This is a great, fresh and clean place to stay. Beautiful location on the water with great sunsst views. A little way out from the center of Astoria if that is what you’re looking for.
