About this house rental
Welcome to Altavista House! Beautiful 3 bed and 2 bath house in the middle of The Geneva on the Lake Strip on New Street. Historic Altavista (built 1906) shares the street with the historic Mary's Kitchen restaurant which is within walking distance from us and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the summer. The beautiful Firehouse Winery is in our backyard! Guests at Altavista also have private beach access, shared with members and guests of New Street.
All 3 bedrooms are upstairs, all have a full size beds, as well as air conditioner units in each room. One of the upper bedrooms has additional space for an air mattress (not Included). Altavista can accommodate 6 guests with beds, or 8 guests with 1-2 of those guests sleeping on the couch. If desired, guests can bring an air mattress to set up in one of the bedrooms. Fresh linens for beds and a bath towel provided for each guest. We ask that guests put all used linens/towels on beds when they leave so we may know what was used and then be replaced for the next guests. There is a Ring doorbell on the side door and a Blink camera facing the porch in order to observe porch during times when renters are not occupying the property.
Amenities include: A fully stocked kitchen, electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, cookware, glassware, silverware, charcoal grill, and outdoor porch with an outstanding lakefront view. We also include fans on the lower level and A/C in bedrooms and living room, picnic table, WiFi, a firestick for TV (logins for streaming services not provided), and private beach access. Please be courteous and do not litter on the beach!
As stated above, guests have private beach access on the street but there are many other attractions at GOTL and the Strip, which is walking distance from Altavista. Geneva has their own Golf Course, mini golf courses, playgrounds, various courts (basketball and tennis), various bars and restaurants, including famous Eddie's Grill and Mary's Kitchen, arcades, wineries, the Geneva State Park (larger and public beach access), Covered Bridge tours, local parks, and many other attractions! Since there are so many attractions, we included a few brochures for our guests, but more can be found at the GOTL Visitors Center.
Parking (up to 3 cars) is in a driveway that is shared by our neighbor so please be courteous park as close to our right side as possible. Guests may utilize the backyard grass behind the house if need be. Check in is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11:00 am.

This house is right in the middle of the strip in the heart of it all!!! However, once you’re at the house it feels private, it’s quiet, relaxing and the sound of the waves is so peaceful while sitting on the porch. Inside has all of the comforts of home including fresh smells, clean towels, clean linens a stocked kitchen and 2 bathrooms which is always a plus with plenty of TP. The owner is very kind and answers all questions honestly and in a timely manner. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

Just two blocks from the main drag, and located at the end of the street on the bluff of Lake Erie, made this a quiet setting to relax and watch the sunrise and sunset when not enjoying the atmosphere of GOTL.

Great place to stay. Perfect strip location and has access to walk down to the water. Area is perfect to have fire by the water for a beautiful relaxing space . House could use a few updates but great space for 7 of us! Couch is very comfy! Big open living room to host a party. Did have a few dust tumbleweeds on stair well and spiders/webs in a few corners but beds and linens were clean and ready to use. Unfortunately it was may fly time so we were unable to enjoy the big front porch. Host is a great communicator and wonderful to work with. I recommend giving this place a try!

This was a really nice rental right on the water, an absolutely perfect location. We had a large group of relatives stop by for my mother's 90th birthday and it was terrific. The house had plenty of room for 20 people to mingle and the access to the beach was ideal. Also, we had to head back at night and leave our two adult children and their spouses from out of town without a car and being just off the strip, they were able to walk out and have really nice evenings. Highly recommend this house.

We needed an early checkin at the last minute and he was very accomodating! The home was as described. Location can’t be beat! Many upgrades would be worthwhile. We had a slip and fall in the tub which would have been avoided if a grab bar was installed

We had the most wonderful time at Altavista Lakefront Cottage. You cannot get any better with the location. Right on the water, gorgeous lake Erie views and walkable to everything on the strip. Super Convenient!
The kitchen had everything we needed including a Keurig coffee pot and we even found a little regular coffee pot underneath the sink. We like our coffee!
Individual air conditioners found in each of the rooms including downstairs and the bedrooms, kept everyone nice and cool.

The location is ideal, with easy access to the strip and a small private beach area.
Like many of the houses in the area, it is a cottage built in the early 1900s. It has not been recently updated, so expect lots of character and charm, but few modern luxuries. We did not use the flat screen, microwave or Krueger provided, but anything we did use was functional. There house was very clean, with more than enough linens and paper products supplied.
The kitchen seemed reasonably well stocked, though we did not cook during our stay.

Loved our stay here! The home was perfect for our family of 7, we just had to use a couple of air mattresses and we fit just fine. Being right on the lake was cool bonus! Owner was easy to work with and had great communication. Thanks!

Great location & very relaxing!! Sunsets are amazing! The property owner was super helpful & prompt to respond. Make sure to take paper products, garbage bags & wash cloths/towels (we only had 2 provided for the week). There is a Dollar General a mile down the road, if needed. We had a lot of spiders but probably due to the age of the house. You also want to take water shoes, as the beaches in the area are rocky. Would stay here again. 🙂

We had a great time in Geneva. The house was as advertised. Great location. The kids had a great time skipping rocks into the lake from the beach. Upstairs A/C units made sleeping comfortable. Our hosts were very responsive, even in the evening. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing
The property was so beautiful and the exact ideal location of where someone would want to stay if they wanted both the Lake and The strip all at once. We could easily walk back and forth from the strip to the house and the private beach access. It was AMAZING. You could watch the sunset from the private beach, you could even watch the sunrise without even having to leave the bed in the bedrooms!

Perfect for families
We had a really wonder time! The location by the lake was amazing. Can’t beat the view! My children loved going down to the little private beach. As a history teacher, I appreciated the age of the house and all the authentic details (door knobs, wood floors, porch, etc). I especially loved sitting on the open front and watching the waves roll in. The house is spacious, comfy and well stocked. Just a couple of doors down from Mary’s Kitchen and at the end of the road is Madsen Donuts and Katie’s Korner ice cream!

Pictures do NOT do it justice
This house felt like a warm hug from grandma! It was simple, cozy and charming but well appointed. But the showstopper is the view! It is right on the lake with your own private beach access. You get sunrise and sunset over the lake and the location is so convenient to the Strip! Only 5 houses separate you and all the action! We would recommend this house for any kind getaway!
