About this house rental
Tiny Askeaton is one of the oldest villages in Ireland, tucked between the ruins of Desmond Castle and the Franciscan Friary: the area buzzes with medieval history. Slip through simple iron gates and up a long track to Inchirourke (still a working organic farm) and your converted cow shed. Yasmin and Donagh, whose family have lived here for 400 years, will be there to greet you with an assortment of friendly dogs. Step inside and rusticity is forgotten! Here you find something more akin to a smart Chelsea apartment: white ceramic floors heated underfoot, a high loft ceiling with exposed beams, an open fireplace at one end, and light streaming in through a wall of windows – just lovely. The kitchen is a good and bright place to cook, but you can have breakfast and dinner brought to you if you prefer – choose B&B or just do-it-yourself. Bedrooms are at either end of the living room, one with a bath, the other with a tiled wet room; both have antique furniture, great beds and softly patterned Roman blinds at small windows with deep sills. There are 500 acres to wander, woodland for scampering and the river Deel for fishing.

We flew into Shannon and needed a place not too far to learn to drive on the left and to recover from jet lag. This beauty looked perfect and so very Irish! We got lost initially so called Don and he stayed on the phone and talked us through town. He walked us through the house and explained any details. It’s on his farm and is just as described. Lots of tools and needed things in the kitchen. He left us butter and farm eggs in the kitchen. We slept very well, comfortable pillows, beds and sheets. Plenty of hot water. The cows were lovely and just across the road. Very peaceful and quiet. Before we left, he invited us for a cuppa and we sat in his kitchen and learned a bit about his life and family. Lovely man, really a wonderful start to our trip.

Thanks Donagh we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fab communication and absolutely beautiful cottage and courtyard.
Great location far enough from the bustle of Limerick but close enough to shops and pubs.

We were traveling with our adult children and this cottage was perfect! The location was great - it was very quiet and peaceful. We loved the animals! The cottage is very spacious for 4 adults. It is also convenient to many locations, we spent the day in Adare and also Killarney and the Cliffs of Mohrer. Don is gracious host and we enjoyed the fresh eggs, current and the fresh flowers in the house were beautiful! Would definitely stay again!

The Courtyard Cottage was an excellent place for my family to stay during our Ireland vacation. It is located on a beautiful working farm just outside of town. Its location made for easy day trips to visit Blarney, Killarney, Galway, Limerick, and the Aran Islands. The cottage itself was also wonderful; with a bright interior, vaulted ceilings, and multiple large windows.
Additionally, we were very appreciative of Donagh's hospitality during our time in Ireland. He was very friendly, flexible, and accommodating. My family stayed during the spring and he invited my daughters to name some of the new calves that were just born. They were so excited! Overall, we could not have asked for a better place to stay during our trip. It was unforgettable!

We have stayed at so many VRBO properties and I have to say this is about the best. Donagh, the owner, is just a great guy and the location is superb. This is a working farm and we had a great team meeting the cows and working dogs. The cottage is superbly equipped and very clean. Proximity to so many great attractions is perfect. We loved it. Thanks Don

Lovely out-of-way cottage. Four of us were very comfortable. Don went out of his way for us. He was attentive regarding our expected package arrival.
Take the advice about the road inseriously. Our rental car did fine, go slow and hug the side of the road.

We loved our time here, and wish we could have stayed longer. We were in Ireland for a wedding that was in Adare. This property was clean, secluded and we loved that it was an active farm and we could see all the cows moving pastures each day. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay!

Lovely 2 night stay at a farm location that suited us and our kids down to the ground, the accomodation was a great space with all the stuff we needed and more. The kids fell in love with the farm dogs and Lenny the Border Collie in particular who saw it as his duty to stand gaurd outside the back door at all times! Good work Lenny and thanks Donagh!

We highly recommend this great property! It's a well-thought-out mix of old and new. Donagh is a welcoming host–available and attentive, yet unobtrusive, and a wonderful conversationalist. The location is quiet and peaceful, down a long and winding farm drive; major sites are anywhere from about 30 minutes to 90 minutes away. One wouldn't necessarily guess that the house is a refurbished dairy stable (where Donagh milked cows as a kid!). The brightly lit interior is well-designed and comfortable. The kitchen (as well as the rest of the house) is well-appointed, and we appreciated that basic staples such as bread, milk, jam and butter were there upon our arrival. Through a dutch doorway , the courtyard is somewhat grassy and bounded by old, atmospheric farm structures. Friendly dogs abound and visit for games of fetch, if you so desire. The local supermarket is quite convenient and well-stocked, with some organic selections. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Liters a hidden gem!
I can’t say enough great things about this vrbo. The house is a converted barn on a working farm and is absolutely modern and adorable. It has everything you would need, and the owner was so thoughtful leaving us some fresh flowers, fruit, and milk for our arrival. He was an excellent communicator and responded timely to any question we had. He lives on property and is available if you want. We really enjoyed chatting with him and learning about his farm. He has 6 adorable and playful dogs that my 23 year old daughter couldn’t get enough of. I highly recommend this property for a true, unique and authentic Irish experience. Just one word of advice… watch out for the long driveway if you have a low riding rental car, the tire ruts are deep and the bottom of our car scraped the ground. Just go slow and ride with one tire on the middle mound.

Our Favorite Cottage
This was our favorite cottage of all the ones we stayed at during our vacation in Ireland. We were welcomed upon our arrival with a kitchen stocked with coffee, tea, fruit, milk, farm eggs, and Irish soda bread and butter. The well-equipped kitchen even had an espresso machine! The cottage had the luxury of two bathrooms, a bonus with the four of us traveling together, and the bedrooms were separated by the living space, which was a bonus for privacy. We loved the location, tucked away in the country but close to town. All in all, we loved our stay here and wished for it fondly after we left. Donagh was a thoughtful host and took good care of us!
