About this farm stay rental
Welcome to The Pillar House Farm!

Welcome to the Pillar House, where friends and family have been gathering together since the 1830s. The home, purchased by the Seiberling family around 1857, was the birthplace of Frank Seiberling and possibly his brother Charlie, who later founded Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Its unique architecture makes it one of the most photographed homes in Norton. Lovingly restored, the home reflects the authentic farmhouse charm of its time combined with the modern amenities we all appreciate today. Whether it is sipping a cold drink on the side porch, relaxing in the pool or hot tub, or exploring the 5 acres, you will find space to relax and recharge.
Outdoor features to enjoy include: heated in-ground pool installed 2021, hot tub in 2022, and firepit. There are 5 acres to explore with open spaces large enough for a family game of kickball, croquet, hide and seek and more. In addition, the generously sized, heated, 3-car garage adjacent to the pool is a perfect enclosed space for everyone to gather. Tables and chairs are provided for your convenience.
This property is truly a one-of-a-kind space designed for bringing friends or generations of family together to celebrate life’s milestones with one another. Where else can you stay in a historic home, yet within minutes visit a drive-in, a winery, or any modern convenience you may need? It is located close to Akron, Medina, Cleveland and Canton. If you are attending a wedding or special event at Birdseye Barn at Western Star, we are right next door.
Inside, there are 7 bedrooms- one is a multi-room suite that has two doors so we count that as two separate bedrooms, there is also an 8th sleeping space in the completely remodeled attic. There are also 4 baths. There is a separate bedroom/suite that includes a private sitting room attached to the garage building.

Bedroom Notes: (see diagrams in pictures for whole house layout and details of bedrooms)
This historic farmhouse is unique, and as well, some of the bedroom configurations are unique, or have limitations based on their location. When you are planning sleeping arrangements for your group, PLEASE keep these limitations in mind.
1) The attic bedroom/play space has VERY narrow, steep stairs. It is the nature of an old home. While this can be a great space for kids to gather and play games and chill, caution is required for the stairs as well as guarding your head. This is NOT the room you want to assign to anyone who has difficulties with stairs or is quite tall. Center of attic is 6 foot 6 inches.
2) Three (3) of the bedrooms offer opportunities to be “suites”
1) The garage bedroom is a generously sized room/suite and offers privacy that some may highly value and appreciate. There is baseboard heating and a window AC that keeps it cool in the summer. Also directly attached is a sitting room with a couch. However, there is NOT a bathroom attached to that space; you need to come into the main house to use the bathroom. Two bathrooms are quite convenient when the weather is pleasant – the basement bathroom or the mudroom bathroom are easily accessible. Please keep this limitation in mind as you assign bedrooms.
2) The master bedroom includes a king bed, a trundle, a twin day bed, and there is a room adjacent that includes a queen bed with its own door. You MUST walk through the master bedroom to get to the queen bed. It’s great if you are a family and want to spread out a little bit. This is the only bedroom with a television.
3)The 2nd floor bedroom that includes a king/trundle combo also shares a door that leads up to the attic. This is also a nice opportunity for a family suite. If used as separate spaces, it affords privacy as long as one knocks before entering.
Kitchen/Dining
We maintain a well-stocked kitchen with a traditional coffee pot/Keurig combo, toaster, tea pot, crockpot (8qt), stockpot, cookie sheet, leftover containers, and kitchen knives. There is an oven with a stove top, microwave, and we have a combination of nonstick and stainless-steel pots and pans. To keep food and beverages cold- there is a refrigerator in the garage, as well as a refrigerator in the kitchen with an ice maker.
Dining Room and Kitchen Area:
• In the dining room there is a large main table for ten.
• Against the walls are 2 pub height narrow tables that each have four seats for eight
• Kitchen has a counter island seating for four
• There is also a popup card table in closet of kitchen/mudroom with seating for 4

The legacy of this hard-working family lives on today. We would be remiss if we didn’t share opportunities for history buffs to learn more about the famous previous occupants of this special home.

We booked this property to accommodate our large extended family for our son’s wedding in Akron. The house was perfect for all of us to get ready, share meals and relax together. We found the property over the top stocked. The pool was amazing and loads of fun. Even though it’s a
Quiet setting we were convenient to everything! Jesse was super nice and responsive!

Every year, we find a place for five families to gather and hang out. There are 9 adults and 12 kids, ranging in age from 5-11. This was an absolute perfect retreat for us, and we didn't have to leave the property for 3 days! The pool was well maintained and had great options for shade and lounging and the garage space was great for eating meals outside. The inside was historic and well-kept. The many smart tvs were great for having movie nights, and keeping kids entertained when they needed a break from the pool. The owner was responsive and helpful.

We were in town for a Celebration of Life for our parents. This house provided the perfect venue for us to gather together with friends and family. The house and grounds had ample space that you didn’t feel cramped or crowded. The “Celebration Hall* (as we called the garage area) was a perfect place for meals, games or visiting. The pool was a welcome respite from the heat. Jesse was very responsive to any questions. Would totally stay here in the future.

I can't recommend this place enough. Absolutely beautiful house and property, that strikes the perfect balance between historic/rustic yet remodeled and clean. All the amenities were in perfect order, rules are very clear and helpful. Jesse was a pleasure to deal with. Loved my weekend here!

Our family booked four nights for a late family Christmas gathering. This house was perfect to fit our family. The lay out of the house was great, allowing for everyone to hang out together or have separate spaces for smaller conversations.
The kitchen is well stocked and large enough to be a gathering place while preparing a meal together.
The weekend we stayed was extremely cold outside. So, the 8th bedroom by the garage was not able to stay warm. With the air conditioner in the window, the cold air just blew in and the room was unbearably cold throughout our stay. So, if you're staying in the winter, maybe make other plans for sleeping arrangements.
I would recommend this home for a large group gathering. It is a wonderful home.

Great place for large groups, especially families. The house never felt its age. We really enjoyed our stay. Lots of rules and procedures with costly penalties attached. Did not run into any issues though. Overall great stay and we would return.

Beautiful, historic home nicely decorated and updated. Great mudroom area for shoes, coats and supplies. Enough flatware, dishes and glasses for a crowd, lacks enough large pots and pans and some should be replaced. Unfortunately, house was very dirty. Showers had not been cleaned in a long time, mold, mildew, soap scum and hairs, sinks did not drain well. Carpets were stained, throw rugs noticeably dirty, debris not vacuumed. There were bugs inside (curious ladybug clusters in the corners upstairs, spiders). In the kitchen, the oven was extremely dirty, very difficult to move racks due to the buildup of grease and the light above the stove didn’t work which was challenging in a dark kitchen at Thanksgiving. There was hair in the silverware drawer and the garbage can was gross. Once you observe that the kitchen and bathrooms are not clean, you can’t help but wonder what else is not being cleaned, which is unsettling. The bedrooms are dark due to the orientation of the house, but had inadequate lighting and no dressers or place to put your things, so we lived out of our suitcases on the floor using cell phone lights to see. It felt more like a dormitory than an historic farmhouse. We did not let these shortcomings spoil a wonderful family gathering. However, a deep cleaning and more thorough cleaning between guests, better lighting and a few additional pieces of furniture in the bedrooms would significantly improve the guest experience at this beautiful old home.

I hosted a group of ten writers for a retreat at this property, and it was a beautiful and cozy space. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and dishes for a crowd, the beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of extra pillows and blankets, and the hot tub and pool were delightful!
Check-in was easy with a door code and clear instructions from the owner, and we were able to get in and make ourselves at home easily.
I chose this rental due to its history and ties to the Sieberling family, since one of my writing clients has a book that references the family--seeing his face when I told him we were staying in F.A. Sieberling's childhood home was a 10/10 experience that added a bit of extra magic.
Overall, this space was comfortable and cozy, had lots of seating for our group to gather together as well as find our own little nooks for privacy, and was close enough to stores and restaurants for us to feel like we were on retreat without being too far from those amenities.

The home has several bedrooms each with at least a queen size bed. The kitchen is large and there are two living rooms which allow people to gather without feeling as if you are on top of each other. Check in was easy and the pool and hot tube are fantastic. We would definitely stay there again.

Good for 10-12 Golfers aged 65+ for annual golf trip. Pool and party garage were a “hit” and we really enjoyed all of the bs stories around the fire pit in the evening. Very nice place for gathering old friends.

We gathered as family to honor our parents who passed away in the last two years. Multi- generational family members enjoyed all this property has to offer. The wonderful pool, fire pit and spacious house allowed all of us to relax during our time together to the fullest. We are locals who wanted to find a space to accommodate all of us and our schedules. This was the ideal location and property!

When we arrived we were able to see an expansive property with a large very clean well maintained pool. Grandkids were excited they wouldn’t be sharing the pool as in a community pool.
Entered the house and impressed with the size of kitchen and dining room and 2 living rooms.
Wish there was a bathroom at the pool house but overall our family gathering of 20 people found the Pillar house very accommodating.
Temps in hot tub and pool we’re comfortable.
Great place for family reunions.

This beautiful country farmhouse was perfect for our family vacation. The pool is very large and clean, the hot tub got very hot, and we utilized the garage space to hang at night so folks could go to bed early in the house. We had a few bonfires, set up a volleyball net in the field, and had a leisurely time. The vineyard down the street is close, along with close groceries as needed. The shared bathrooms got a little tight but we made it work. I guess the only complaint would be the rooms that folks have to walk through to get to other rooms - this might not be a problem depending on your specific group, but it was a bit awkward for us. Overall, very nice space for a large family gathering.

We rented this beautiful rustic home to celebrate our oldest son's college graduation. The 3 car heated garage was perfect for hosting guests, & the home was stunning, exactly as pictured! Plenty of space for everyone & Jesse, the owner was very responsive to all communications. I can only hope to rent this property again in the summer to enjoy the new heated pool!
Thank you so much for an amazing stay & grad weekend, Jesse!

great family property
For our 50th anniversary we rented the property for a family get together. Everything was at least as good as advertised. The pool and hot tub were well used, plenty of room for everybody both inside and out. Could not have been a better choice. Jesse is great the work with.

Great Estate Property
The Pillar House met every expectation for my family return trip to Ohio. All of the facilities were as advertised. Jesse (Owner) was an awesome communicator both before and during our stay. The pool area was spacious enough to house 27 family members of all ages and the garage area was perfect for food, drinks and dining. Highly recommend this place for any family gatherings. We had 12 stay in the house during our visit and their was plenty of room to spread out. The only planning you need to do is bathrooms. Being an older house, there are no en-suites and only one bath on 2nd floor needs to be planned out. Overall I would return to the Pillar house for sure.
