Joyce was so sweet and her omelette was so good! Nice cleam room. Shared kitchen to use. Was supposed to be walking distance to the ma, l so I think the location is probably good but didn't stay long enough to experience it.
Unfortunately I didn't had the best experience like the ones written in the review regarding the staff. Didn't feel comfortable around her. Moved to another place nearby for half the price and w the sweetest staff!

Nice staff, Good breakfast, wifi okay, all pretty good.
Moved to gallivanter hostel when I returned to Dar a week later because I wanted to see how it was in a different hostel. Wish I didn't. Now I wished I booked nest haven again instead. Oh well.
Could be closer to the center, but it's not far from the malls and beach. Also wouldn't hurt with a tiny sign on the gate.

Simple but good breakfast. Great people running the place. Good location in Mikocheni. Quiet but close enough to the 'city centre'.
No mosquito nets.

excellent location: once one knows where the mall is, the beach is just next !!!
many local food available. once one discovers the way the transport work, one can room across the city at one's heart content!
they need a washing machine. If they could provide bicycles ( even for rental) that would be very useful.

The host Maria was exceptional ,friendly , kind and very helpful. The facility is very clean and the additional kitchen where you can make your meals is a wonderful bonus. Thank you Nest Haven, I really have enjoyed my stay in Tanzania thanks to you.

Maria the owner is into cheating the customers of there money. She overcharges .ignoring the booking.com rate.

Nothing much
Maria the owner overcharged me the room rent. It was US$6 per night but she charged me US$ 8 from 26th may to 30 may.. she refused to listen. She has to pay a balance to me. And she has left for kenya. Bad experience.

Nothing.
In this hostel, both the environment and the work of the staff are bad. There are no mosquito nets in this place, and the fan on the ceiling didn't blow air well. Both doors of the cabinets under the kitchen sink were broken and dangling. The tap water was not turned off so it continued to flow and the yard was covered with gray cement. I would not recommend The Nest Haven Hostel.

The outdoor space in the back yards is nice, before the mosquitos arrive !
No mosquito net on the bed. An extra guest had its tent set in the middle of the dorm...

Maria was the best. for real! don’t hesitate to come, she treats so so well and is there to help you anytime.
nothing really, maybe the mosquitos lol

The room I reserved was not available upon check-in. Maria strung me along as if the room would become available and it never did. I required my own private bathroom. After 48 hours she admitted it would not be available and attempted to find other accommodations for me. I would not recommend booking here. This was the worst hostel I have ever stayed at. There was not a great deal of community and Maria seemed annoyed when I would ask her for suggestions.

the host is incredible. she is so welcoming and kind. she was extremely interesting and such a helpful woman. she fed me free of charge. made sure I had refreshments the whole time and was just so so lovely. i can’t express enough how grateful I am for her hospitality! great value for money and I would definitely recomend to anyone travelling in dar es Salam.
the shower facilities are not the greatest and there is no air con in the property. although what can you expect for $6 in Africa?

The location is safe and quiet.
There were no mosquito nets! It's the humid (rainy) season and I got a lot of bites in the bedroom. The manager said she sprayed but it seemed to make no difference. It's the tropics and there should be nets. Also re breakfast, no milk was provided for tea/coffee. The manager said she doesn't buy it because it will spoil. I can't accept that reason. First, she has a fridge and freezer. And it's possible to buy milk in small amounts in this country. At the very least she could have provided milk powder. They were being cheap in my opinion. Check-in is supposed to close at 11pm according to the hotel's policies stated on this website, but they let in a woman at 1 am to the dorm.

We arrived in Dar Es Salaam super late (at 2am) on a heavily delayed Tazara train from Zambia (took 81 hours instead of 44 - a story for another time!). We were really nervous about arriving so late and whether the hostel would still be open. When we arrived we knocked and the door was opened by the most welcoming staff member (unfortunately I forgot their name) who very kindly dealt with our shattered nerves and showed us to a wonderful room for us to get a decent shower and a great night’s sleep before heading off to get the ferry in the morning.
Could not recommend more.
Some guests thought the fan was a bit loud. Maybe it would be good to have a sign outside? Although it is very clearly number 8 on the road.

Good location, clean and comfortable. I recommend them . Thank you for hosting me
Mosquito nets maybe needed

Basic but very clean / well kept. Basic but fine egg, toast, fruit, coffee breakfast. Good outdoor seating / social area.
It’s in the middle of an industrial area. Apparently there is a restaurant nearby but one isn’t too motivated to go stumbling in the dark roads to find it after an 11 hour bus ride. Lot of mosquitoes in outdoor area. No net on bed but definitely mosquito in room.

I enjoyed my stay here, for the price of the room it is a good option. Maria was an excellent host, she helped me with booking buses and was very flexible and accommodating.
A bit far out from main city centre, the location in Google Maps is correct but there is no signs so it was a bit difficult to find. Would recommend addings signs so the hotel can be found more easily! Also it was difficult to sleep because of mosquitos, mosquito nets would greatly improve comfort.

Spent two days in Daressalaam here. Good place for that money!
Maria is a nice and welcoming host, hostel is clean and the warm shower was great!
Breakfast prepared on requested time, that was nice!
Fan over the bed not working, quite a few mosquitos, only one bathroom, so you might have to wait a little. Burt no big deals, would come again! :)
