Recently took a trip with my Mother to visit historic sites in the area. Specific to Nauvoo, the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is as fascinating and faith building as it is tragic. Being able to stay in a house dating back to the time when the saints lived in the area, while enjoying some modern amenities, was incredible. The home is beautiful and convenient, while still retaining its antique charm. The property hosts were awesome to work with, communicated regularly, and helped to provide us with an amazing experience we will always cherish.

We were doing a 2 week road trip and this property was right in the middle of our trip. It was perfect as it allowed us to spread out and get a little bit of space from each other (verses a hotel room) and do some laundry and be able to actually cook (if we wanted).. Nauvoo had some yummy restaurant options. Loved the proximity to Historic Nauvoo and downtown. Property was clean and host was accessible with questions. Wifi was great. And property had air conditioning which is appreciated in the Nauvoo summer. Would definitely recommend staying at this property.

This was a really nice home to stay in - close to Historic Nauvoo, updated and clean bathrooms, comfortable beds, cool AC for the summer. We would definitely stay there again!

We wanted to have the authentic 1800's feel while we were staying in Nauvoo and this home does the trick! It was decorated so nicely in that era. My sister and I each had our own bedrooms upstairs so luckily it wasn't awkward for her to come into my bedroom to use the bathroom (the upstairs bathroom is in the Joseph & Emma room). We stayed 6 nights and made dinner several evenings in the home--they had everything we needed. The view out the dining room into the open field was lovely. We loved our stay!

We loved our stay in the Abbott home, it provided our family with a unique opportunity to stay in a home that was built at the same time the Saints were in Nauvoo. The home is even decorated to the extent possible in a way that honors that history. It was also special for us to learn at the visitor's center that my 2nd Great Grandfather and his parents lived two short residential blocks away on the corner of Ripley and Warsaw. We would definitely stay there again.

I was in town for a singles conference and had the privilege of staying at Rufus Abbott Manor for the second year in a row. The home is beautiful and harkens back to a time oft forgotten. We had a wonderful weekend filled with the spirit, friendship, and uplifting messages. The host provided some homemade cookies from a family recipe that made the stay extra special.

I was a little concerned with it being a historic home that we would just feel stressed out about not breaking anything and it would be uncomfortable, but really it was very comfortable and welcoming even with little kids. We did watch them closely, and it was good we had plans outside of the home most of the time, but the home has a really nice feel to it and a sweet spirit so it wasn’t uptight or anything.

House was comfortable. It was very convenient for our stay. We were there to see all the historic Nauvoo stuff. The house was a 2 minute drive to the temple and 5 minutes from old Nauvoo, which made it nice during to day to run back and have lunch or dinner.

The property was exactly as advertised and perfect for a getting in the Nauvoo spirit. We made Thanksgiving dinner in this kitchen and celebrated a holiday we will never forget.

We LOVED staying in this beautiful, historic home! If you’re into old, historical things this house is it! We had ground hogs and deer constantly visiting us in the back yard which the kids loved! It’s very close to all of the lds sites. Owner’s communication is great and they are very accommodating. Staying at the Abbott Manor definitely added to the pioneer feel/experience found in Nauvoo. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your historical treasure! It was one of the highlights of our trip. ❤️

Had a wonderful and educational stay in Nauvoo, couldn’t have been more authentic than Abbott Manor. Got a feeling of walking into the past, aside from the trash filled dumpster right outside the bedroom window. After our first night, the upstairs bathroom toilet was slow to flush and then wouldn’t flush at all. It was obvious that this was an existing problem because there was feces remnants lContacted Tina who responded and arranged for a plumber to inspect the problem. We only had 2 full days to see the sights so I was informed that the plumber advised not to use that toilet, which was a huge inconvenience with 4 adults.
It’s always part of my criteria to get a place with 2 bathrooms and I asked her to adjust the amount. Upon this request she said the toilet could be used. She was extremely rude with her chastising responses, shouting with repeating my name over and over with exclamation marks. She should’ve been thankful that we heeded the what plumber advised and didn’t use it, as it would’ve been a very disgusting situation had we listened to her.
It must have been an existing problem as my son had to clean feces remnants off of the toilet before we were able to settle in after check in.
Tina had mentioned that

I decided to spend my birthday in the Nauvoo Temple and invited my birthday buddies to join me. I wanted to stay in a historical home. So, four senior citizen ladies jumped in the mini van and headed out on a week-long road trip.
I chose the Rufus Abbot Manor because we could each have our own room and there was a bathroom on each level. The home is definitely an antique but still has adequate air conditioning and Wifi. The beds were comfortable and the house was charming.

We were very pleased with the home. We loved the location, the charming decorations and age of the home. Most of all we were blessed to have Nauvoo Tina. She gave us insights and recommendations from a local perspective. Our vacation was awesome with her recommendations and the home just made it perfect.

This is a beautiful home on the edge of Nauvoo. The area was quiet and peaceful with a beautiful sunrise. I would encourage anyone who will be in the Nauvoo area to consider this home

The ambiance of the home was excellent. The decor was well thought out and really had the flavor of old Nauvoo. Two of the bedrooms are upstairs and the upstairs bathroom is part of the master bedroom. The home had excellent wifi and that was greatly appreciated. We really enjoyed the pioneer feeling other than staying in a motel.

Cute historic home
This is a nice historic home and the owner has it decorated very nicely. The bathrooms have been upgraded. The upstairs bathroom is on the small side but functional. The main floor bathroom is spacious and nicely updated. As with all historic homes there can be some quirkiness. The main thing with this home are the short stairs leading to the upstairs. They won't be a problem for people that don't have a problem going up and down stairs but they may be problematic if you are unsteady on stairs. My older parents were with me and they just took the bedroom on the main floor and everyone did fine. This is pretty typical in older homes in the area. The location was good with an open field behind the house. The owner was helpful. I would stay here again.
