We've stayed at Far Horizons twice this year and both experiences were positive. The house was clean upon our arrival and the beach front views and location were perfect. The house had everything we needed during our week long stay. We will most definitely be back.

Loved being right on the beach with easy access to path there. House… needs a lot of TLC and a deep cleaning. Kitchen well stocked and nice hot showers. Had an injury (my own fault) and the 37 steps to kitchen/living area a challenge. Submitted all of our concerns to Vacasa and they were great on stating that they would inform the “owners” on the issues… so many tiny things but important things need repairs. Taking a survey on our occupants, at the current status, we will seek another place in the future. Odors an issue… covered sofas with sheets and washed the throw pillows. Location to fishing was our attraction so if you can deal with the litter beneath the house, the lack of lighting and electrical outlet issues, then you are good here. It was quiet and we liked the solitude…

This rental is in a great location and had good space for family. Could use a little updating.

The location is amazing - the sunrise from the deck is beautiful. The beach located just over the dunes made for lots of walks on the beach. The bed was comfortable. There was no hairdryer to be found. Bring your own beach towels and chairs . There are no beach towels provided and beach chairs are not stored well making them appear damaged and unusable. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

This house is in need of some updates but if you aren't looking for luxury and just to have a place to sleep and eat while beaching and exploring the island, then it's perfect. The kitchen had what we needed to prepare meals everyday. The dishwasher was not great but helpful. The washer and dryer was convenient. Plenty of room for everyone in our party. Loved the decks and convenience of the beach right over the dunes.

House was great!
Water - pressure and water heater were both good!
Appliances worked well in the kitchen.
Wi-Fi was sufficient.
Newly redone upper porch was wonderful.
Would rent this unit again!
Fishing- Would suggest driving on the beach.. directly out from house is a huge sand bar.

Great view. House was nice and clean. I would probably invest in a new toilet seat that fits the upstairs bathroom, and a new vacuum. Overall? It was nice

Great location. Extremely dated. Rugs are dirty as well as furniture. Musty smell throughout the house. Maybe mold in bottom floor bedrooms. I live at the shore and carpeting is not a good idea.

If the customer service were just a little better, this would be a five star review. When we arrived, the pipes were frozen and there was no water. It wasn't the fault of the rental company, but Vacasa didn't say anything to us in advance. So we had to go out on Christmas Day to find the one shop open to buy water at. Aside from that, there wasn't enough basics like toilet paper. Just a bit frustrating and really came down to wanting better communication.
That aside, it was a great location. Great view form the decks, right on the water with a beach access right beside the house. Nice and quiet and down in Avon compared to the areas further north. We really enjoyed it.

The view from the deck and the access to the beach is great (10 out of 10). The house is a 5 out of 10. Age shows on this rental.

The location (oceanfront Avon and walking distance to several shops) is the single reason to rent this dilapidated property.
The kitchen was fairly well supplied with decent dishes, cookware, and utensils; but the oven did not work, and the dishwasher and refrigerator were operable but old and rusting. The bathrooms are old and dank. The toilet seat in the ‘master’ bath did not fit the bowl, and you sat partially on the rim of the bowl itself…The list of items wrong with this house is very long, but a standout is the urine-stained carpet. Not a mere “oops” here or there, but a situation where multiple large stains were present and sanitation was a concern.
Windows functioned, but coverings did not in the main area of the house. The entry door into the kitchen had a non-functional knob with screws falling out of it. Screen doors from the bedrooms were in poor repair and hanging loose so that my 60# dog walked right out of the house. Most of the deck is in rough shape with popped nailheads all over the place. (The upper deck has been replaced.) Trashed umbrellas and boogie boards from previous renters were left in pieces on and under the deck.
Vacasa was largely non-responsive except to text that my concerns were being forwarded to the local office.

For the cost of this rental they need TO UPDATE. We rented this house in 2013 and since then the only thing done was to the outside, probably storm damage. We will not rent this house again. Furniture dirty and EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE, to many issues to list the only positive is this rental is pet friendly.

It was perfect. Just a dune-line between us and the ocean, and if we didn't want to go that far, we could watch the breakers from the balcony. Being next-to-last on the cul de sac helped make it very quiet and private. And the stars at night - coming from an urban area, I had forgotten how many of them there are and how bright they seem against a black sky.
House had everything we needed, and a real beach-house feel, with wooden walls, maritime wall-hangings, and two sliding-glass doors to the balconies. Satellite TVs, CD/DVD player, and Roku. Wi-Fi fast enough for two simultaneous video conferences. Easy walk to pier, bistro, and rental store for beach accessories, like big-tire bikes and kayaks.
We'll be back.

Home was fine. It has a lovely view and easy beach access. Our fourth time at this home
Carpets had been cleaned and the deck was new. Been coming to the Outer Banks for 20+ years and have always rented with Outer Beaches Realty. Now that it's Vacasa, I doubt we'll rent with you again. Arrived for our recent weekly rental about an hour before check-in time at 6:00pm. Place had been cleaned already, so it was ready to go. We unloaded our luggage and decided to call Vacasa to see if we could enter. Was told we couldn't because the house still needed to be "inspected." No problem, it was now close to check in time anyway, so we just hung out on deck. 6:00 arrives, still no "inspector" so we tried code to enter the house. Code did not work. Called Vacasa, but now the office was closed. Left message, no one called back. Then called emergency number and left message. Finally got a call back from someone in Ohio, I think. Explained situation, was given a new code. It also didn't work. Now it's getting close to 8:00 and beginning to get dark. Called emergency number again, explained situation. Lots of apologies from fellow in Ohio, he told us our situation would be "escalated" to a local person who would call us back. Needless to say, we were not pleased by now. Finally, got a call back with another code that let us in. The "inspector" never showed up. Later in week we went to office to complain. Person in charge was not there but a staff person took our name/number and said someone would call us. We're still waiting.

The house was large and clean and decently stocked/equipped. Happy to have a washer and dryer and the location was next to the beach and was as advertised and perfect!

Far Horizons is a comfortable home located in a quiet neighborhood that's just a few short steps away from the beach. You can't beat the sunrise/moonrise views from the deck, the kitchen is well stocked with all the equipment needed to cook big family meals, and groceries/shopping are only a minute or two away. Best of all, the family dog is a welcomed guest!

Good view
The house was very well equipped, very close to the beach with a beautiful view. We really enjoyed our stay. I would only add a television in the room with three beds

Love It!
This is a cozy beach crowded and what I envision when I think of a beach cottage! It is right on the beach and is stocked with everything you would need. The furniture and decor is a little dated, but that didn’t bother us at all! We will definitely be booking this adorable home again.

The house was a good value and a relatively short walk to the beach. The house was also very clean and had comfortable beds and couches. Bathrooms were spacious. There was a nice selection of beach toys for kids. We had a good two weeks at the house. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

We`ve been coming to Hatteras for 10 years and Breakers Watch has been our favorite rental. The swimming pool and beach access are amazing! We also like that every bedroom has its own bathroom and flat screen TV. Everyone had their privacy when they needed it. The screened in porch and game room are also great for rainy days.
