About this house rental
Be one of the first to escape to this incredible HillsHyde retreat. Enjoy the breathtaking views from both inside and out of the Columbia River Gorge and the surrounding region. The 500 square foot covered deck provides an exceptional location to enjoy every moment possible.
Inside the custom built 1929 you will find beautiful built-ins, Russian white oak hardwoods, and an upgraded chef's kitchen. Dr. Hyde was a beloved local family physician that built and lived in the home for many years. Connected to the kitchen is some tableside seating as well as some space at the bar. The main living room has additional dining room seating as well as a cozy place to relax after a day of adventures or just because. The entire room is bathed in natural light and incredible views. When it is time to relax, throw on a record and read one of your favorites in the attached library.
Also on the main floor is a spacious bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a king bed. The entire home is filled with countless antiques, artwork, and custom pieces to create the perfect blend of character and comfort.
Ascending upstairs there are a couple different sections of the house. One has two additional bedrooms along with a full bath nearby. For more sleeping flexibility there is a twin day bed just outside the bedrooms which is perfect for kiddos or young adults.
The other upstairs section of the home is perfect for fun and entertainment. There is a large couch and a huge TV to enjoy countless streaming options. If you are looking for a little competitive enjoyment there is a pool table, dart board, and putting mat for the group or family to thoroughly enjoy together.
Descending downstairs you will find a lower level that is quite special. Besides the laundry and some facilities related stuff, there is a final sleeping area that is a haven for the kiddos. The room has multiple twin beds as well as a twin over twin bunk. There is some comfortable seating and TV for streaming. The teepee is always a hit as well.
As you can tell, this home was furnished a level of thought and care to facilitate most any group or family have a truly special time. It is rare to find such a complete home on an acre of mature landscaping. We look forward to hosting you at the HillsHyde Escape. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all.
We truly want you to enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories with your group. That being said, this is not a party or gathering house for groups that can't control their noise levels. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring the interior of the house.

We were in the area for our son’s wedding. What a fabulous place to stay! Everything we could have possibly needed was provided.
As soon as you walk in you feel at home!! Ample space for guests. Super Clean! Amazing views! This has yo be the number one place to stay in The Dalles.

Very beautiful house with an even better view. When not out exploring the area, we enjoyed the fantastic wrap around porch. The kitchen was well stocked with everything and more than one would need.

The house was amazing! And, the views from dawn to dusk of the Columbia River and mountains breath-taking.
There were so many different rooms for gatherings from the game room upstairs to the dining room, front room.. etc. But, the sitting porch was so very special.
The bedrooms were very comfy and spacious - and the natural light was awesome.
And last but certainly not least - the kitchen had everything. I didn't have to bring any utensils from home. Very well equipped :)
Thank you so much for also checking in with us periodically- a nice touch!
Will definitely come again *****

We had a little family reunion with my dad who lives in Goldendale. The house was perfect with lots of space for everyone. The toddler loved the room in the basement with the pretend stove and tee pee The porch and the views were amazing! When we come to visit my dad again, we will definitely be coming back!

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. I would stay there again.

We had a wonderful 4 night Four Sibling Reunion plus wives. The house had plenty of room for four couples and one little dog. Despite smokey skies obscuring our view of the mighty Columbia Gorge, the marvelous porch was in full use all day and evening. The massive yard was wonderful for the little dog, as well as for several of us practicing yoga on the lawn. The kitchen was absolutely fantastic with so much top of the line equipment. We gave the dishwasher a workout.

Have been driving through The Dalles for over 40 years but had never spent a night there. Struck gold on this first ever three-night stay. The house was amazing. The dining room, living room, library and bar area were masterfully preserved retaining the original ambiance of a luxurious home built in 1929. Despite this, we spent almost all of our time on the wrap around deck from sunrise to well past sunset. The kitchen was updated with top shelf appliances and gear. Cooked and barbequed two meals and went out once. Ate all meals on the deck. Went to museums, wine-tasting rooms, wineries and shopping and never had to drive more than 10 miles from the house with most locations less than 4 miles. Oh, one more thing--the view was spectacular.

This house provided plenty of room for three families! It was so relaxing to sit in the living room and look out over the Columbia River and beautiful snow-capped mountains. We saw deer in the yard also! I would argue that it is the best view, and most beautiful older home in the Dalles! So much character! The kitchen was so spacious and equipped with everything we needed. Also, the management company was very responsive to our questions. Thank you for a relaxing, lovely 4 days!

Beautiful and well maintained property. Enjoyed our stay.

We loved this home! First off, the views of the gorge are incredible. We loved sitting on the wrap around porch and watching the sunset. The home is super cool and historical, but has been updated in the places you want like the kitchen, giant family/game room, and AC making it very comfortable. This was a great hub for our family trip to the gorge. We went to Hood River, hiked the area, and The Dalles itself had fun things to do (museums, winery, cool historical downtown).

Perfect family getaway spot. We were here for Thanksgiving and the kitchen was spacious and equipped with everything we needed. Tons of space for everyone to spread out. The basement is perfect for the kids and come with some great toys. Spotless and great finishes!

Beginning to end was seamless. One of the most well appointed homes we have ever encountered. Everything was at your fingertips. Pictures 100% accurate to the homes accommodations. Great for your traveling pet with room to roam. Would highly recommend for your gorge adventure. We will be back in the future
