About this house rental

Harmonizing with the lush surroundings, Panzalsol is a spacious home surrounded by lush gardens where you can hear the waves crashing, watch the scarlet macaws fly by, and enjoy the howler monkeys as they eat the property's mangos. The architecture of this very private house consists of a stunning palapa, the biggest in the area, handmade in the traditional indigenous method. All the rooms are decorated in local art and custom furniture designed and made in town by local artisans. Panzalsol is a place to relax in the hammocks, surf on the beach, hike in the mountains, stargaze, horseback ride, or simply enjoy long meals and conversations in the four different dining areas on
the property. The quaint Islita town is 5 minutes away, and it is famous for its picturesque square, friendly people and its open air art museum. The beach next door, Corozalito, is a protected area for sea turtles, and you can see them laying their eggs or hatching at various times of the year. The other next door beach, Camaronal, is one of the best surfing spots in Costa Rica (expert level only). Islita however provides a safe beach for bathing, as well as a nice wave for beginner surfers. The house is staffed with a housekeeper and maintenance person 24/7. At walking distance, the Hotel Punta Islita Autograph Collection offers a full spa, and two restaurants. There are other local restaurants in town as well, and Samara town, 25 minutes away, is a beachtown that offers numerous restaurants, organic markets, boutiques, pharmacy, bakery, clinic, and more. Panzalsol, and Islita town, provides visitors with an authentic Costarican experience for families that enjoy nature, culture and connecting with the locals. Chic, relaxed, barefoot luxury.

It took me a little bit of time to write this because I honestly don't think I can capture just how PERFECT this place is! The pictures are just a small window into the beauty of this property. Maria let us know all of the local places around to include getting a 4-wheel drive vehicle (highly recommend). Yami was amazing (we ended up hiring her to cook breakfast every morning for an additional fee which was well worth it). Jose quietly kept the property looking fantastic, even pointing out sunrise and sunset monkeys in the trees. The view looks like something out of a movie set, as does the expansive outdoor living space (the dining room and living room extend to the backyard and pool) giving the feeling that you are literally one with the ocean (because the infinity pool looks as if it runs into the ocean). We rented this home as the 2nd house after 5 days in the volcano region because we were told that Playa Islita was restful and that is 100% true! No one in the family wanted to leave this home for 5 days because of its beauty! The beautiful pool, many hammocks, outdoor swings, steps to the beach, wonderful surf, local cuisine, and even beach massages made our stay a true slice of heaven. We were two families who came together (9 in total) but the space was expansive and another family could have joined with no impact on our space -- this is how big the home is! Don't wait - if you are considering the area -- book it now. You will not regret it!

The house is beautiful and the scale is much bigger than the pictures can describe. It felt like we were in a resort all to ourselves. We were greeted by Yami and Jose and they showed us everything and how it works. They were very nice and did a good job of being available but not intrusive. The location is perfect for a nice quiet week. The real star of the house is the outside area. There are so many places to sit and relax. The views are awesome. The beach was super quick to get to. The beach was quiet and the water was perfect for swimming and boogy boarding. We enjoyed the local restaurants. We enjoyed it so much we barely left which is unusual for us. We will definitely stay here again.

We had a nice time at the house and of course Costa Rica in general. We were 14 people, 3 families. We found the house beautifully constructed and decorated, can see the artistic/architect touch for sure. The grounds were full of flowers and jungle plants completing the touch. The 8 kids loved the pool and were in it constantly. There is no hot tub, but would have been too hot anyways. There are several dining and seating areas, some big enough for whole group, some perfect for an adults only dinner ;) The host was very responsive the entire stay for any issues or questions that came up via email/whatsapp. The housekeeper was always present if needed, and will use google translate if you dont speak spanish. You can walk to the beach in 2 min, and it was perfect for our group who wanted to jump in waves and body board without big undertow! If you are looking for real surfing waves might not satisfy you. Also not a bay for babies. Beach is very quiet, few other people around. There is a hotel beach club next door, but was Very quiet! You can utilize the women from their spa for massages if you want, very relaxing. Our only complaint was that the kitchen was very hot as it was far from ocean breeze and there was no air conditioning (all the bedrooms had well functioning AC). We felt bad for our hired chef Gabriel (who was incredible!) and Giovanni because it was so hot especially with stove or oven on. We requested a fan for them which then came immediately. Heads up.

Our family of 13, spanning three generation’s, had an absolute dream vacation at Panzalsol! The setting, decor, and overall ambiance was incredible! Stunning design, well stocked, and comfortable furniture everywhere you looked. The kids bounced from pool to ocean all day, every day. All local restaurant recommendations were top notch, and you can lean off of the neighboring hotel’s amenities if you’d like. Communication with Maria was easy and timely, and the caretakers Yami and Jose were super kind and easy to get along with (Yami even cooked us dinner one evening for a fee). Do yourself a favor and Book! Thank you Maria, Yami, and Jose for a wonderful family holiday!

I could not imagine a more perfect home and place for our big family to get away to. Maria’s home is absolute perfection. It is thoughtfully designed and just gorgeous. We loved that there were multiple different gathering areas all within the same location—perfect for our family to be together even when doing different things. The pool is perfectly sized and the path to the beach is a quick, easy walk. (We were grateful for the private, outdoor showers on the way back up!) The little town is precious and the staff at the house is absolutely wonderful. I can’t think of even 1 thing we would change. Our family had the best time getting away and spending time together in a beautiful home and beautiful location. We cannot thank Maria and her family enough for opening this piece of heaven to others. We can’t wait to return!

Panzalsol is a an absolute gem! The home is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The palapa “great room” has the feel of an intimate, boutique hotel. The art and furnishings are soulful. The home and property harmonize with nature, with multiple sitting areas, dining tables, and hammocks overlooking the infinity pool and the beach. Our family of 11 (including 5 grandchildren 6 months to 6 years of age) had more than enough space to dine together and relax in multiple covered and uncovered outdoor spaces. We enjoyed preparing freshly delivered fish in the well-equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed the nearby restaurants and local village within walking distance from the house. Macaws frequently visited the trees on the property, and a troop of howler monkeys crossed the property a couple of times during our stay. The pool was perfect. The beach was incredible with gentle, consistent waves that were perfect for boogie boarding. A bit further out, the waves were larger for those who enjoyed a bit more surf. Maria is a gracious host, meeting us in person when we arrived. Yami and Jose, who live next door on the property, attentively cared for the house and grounds and also took great care of us! Yami taught us to make delicious gallo pinto, and on one morning made us a full typical breakfast. Our family has been on many trips and all agreed that this was one of the best trips ever! We highly recommend (and can't wait to return to) the magic of Pansalsol!

Our time here has been truly magical. The ambience of Maria’s home is one filled with space, healing energy, and love. My family and I were able to relax in a way that was new to us. Taking a deep breath was easy. Gazing at the stars and being lulled to sleep by the waves, led to deep and restful sleep. Waking up in the morning to the beauty of the ocean, lush trees, and McCaws made enjoying coffee an unforgettable experiences. Our trip started off by being warmly welcomed by Maria. Our check in process was seamless. Maria was an amazing host and gave us great information on the local areas, to include, where to eat, local grocery stores, shops, etc. The open design of the outdoor/indoor lounge space was a favorite for our family. We each had our own hammock, swinging bed, or couch—to read, chat, and nap. We loved the design of the kitchen, each bedroom, pool, open court yard, multiple dining tables, comfortable chairs, amazing art….everything! We’ve already planning our return trip back and are leaving with a sense of peace, joy, and stillness. Come here to relax, love, heal, and enjoy the beauty of nature. It’s truly a magical place. 100% guaranteed to be the best vacation you’ve taken in years!
