renting homes Norris 20 Yrs. This is a great home Lots of room to make large group comfy. But a sparkling kitchen No -a dirty kitchen with a broken dishwasher and only 2 working burners.
The dock is 8x 24 flat .The path to it is easy enough followed by a platform / deck with stairs to the rocks. I am not new! I know docks can be tricky to access especially when the waters is low. But this was ridiculous
At the bottom of the steps were three planks fashioned together to get to the dock. The middle one was on rocks nearly straight up and down. Extremely difficulty / dangerous for members of my group to get down .
I texted the manager and two men came and pulled the dock further into the lake. Then laid the planks across the water to it. NOW you had to climb down the rocks , but when you crossed the planks, there was no support, so when they got to the middle people sank went in the water.
Next day-A storm came in, while on the dock with my daughter- Dock broke free! on one side and rotated sharply causing the dock line to nearly take us both out at the knees. As we ran up the hill, I heard the dock or boat? crash into the rocks. After climbing under the boat at night between the rocks, I confirmed that the dock struck the rocks about 2 ft short of my outdrive
A house that sleeps 15 with a dangerous dock large enough to hold one 20 ft boat makes no sense. Planned 3 mnths ahead and stayed for 10 days. A few in my party gave up on going boating

Dock and Cabin met our needs. Really clean. Comfortable bed. Plenty of towels. Boating was wonderful. Parking and turnaround area very helpful. You have to enjoy traveling around the mountain. Ingles is a great grocery to stock up before you arrive to cabin. We would choose this pet friendly cabin again!!

Pros vs Cons.
1. If you are a boater, renting a boat or like hanging out on the dock. Keep swiping, dock is terrible. First you need to walk the highwire to make it across the water to it. two of our guests fell attempting to cross. Its very small and unstable. Cheap!
2.The house is full of garage sale furniture and bedding. everything is the old stuff from the owner's house or picked up for 2$ by the curb. The bedrooms have carpet which is disgusting for a rental. Its stained and has not been cleaned in a long time. Everything else is very dated and smells like dog.
3. It is a true rental so keep expectations low.
4. Location on the water is great! bring what you need because closest store is 35 minutes. but the cove and southern part of the lake are amazing. Its close to a couple great marinas by water. House is large and plenty of space. Just loud with no insulation between floors.
5. I would not stay here again. Unless it is last minute or fits your budget.
6. Driveway has plenty of parking, Outside of the property is very nice.

The location is easy to get to with all paved roads and a driveway large enough for a boat trailer. It is perfect for dogs, the AC works great, very spacious house with a gentle slope to the dock. The area is very private and quiet. Very beautiful home. However , the dishwasher did not work, the dock is sketchy ( would not recommend for elderly or handicap) and the bedding could use some TLC as well as new mattresses and pillows. I would stay there again and recommend to a friend yet it's disappointing how high the VACASA fees are even when you have to pretty much clean the house before you leave. Why pay for cleaning and have such strict check out rules if we have to do it ourselves?

Absolutely amazing property. The house is beautiful and well taken care of. Access to the lake was amazing as well really enjoyed our visit

Many issues stated in previous reviews are unresolved. Smoke alarms are missing, expired fire extinguisher, poor quality cookware, substandard furniture. The bunk bed in the basement is unusable for two people because it is not sturdy. The gas grill caught on fire because of all the residual grease and the grease tray ended up dropping out of the grill due to its poor condition. The property manager offered to bring us a new grill so hopefully the next guests won’t have this issue. Numerous other maintenance issues that did not ruin our vacation but were annoyances. Great house and great location but the house is not up to acceptable standards for this type of rental.

Pros
-great location right on the water- walk down to the water isn’t super steep or dangerous
-great dock and cove area for swimming/boating
-quiet and private
-nice lawn area around the house
-reliable WiFi
Cons
-lots of little maintenance issues- lamps that didn’t work, door handles coming off, light bulbs burnt out, fridge needs a new water filter, ice maker didn’t make cubes- it just violently spit ice chunks at you, washing machine turned on but would not spin so the clothes were drenched when I came back
-the couches and chairs are uncomfortable and broken down
-the master bed is so squeaky and loud it makes noise every time you move
-there is absolutely no sound proofing in the entire place since it is all wood- just something to keep in mind if you have small children or people who go to bed at different times- bring sound machines!
-no ceiling fan in the uppermost bedroom, which made it very hot to sleep in
-there was a hodge podge of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, many in poor condition (eg a can opener I couldn’t get to work, very few spoons), and it only came with one roll of paper towels and one trash bag that we could find so we had to go buy those
-there was sort of a musty smell- I am pretty sensitive to that but it didn’t really bother the rest of the family- the smell is worse in the basement, though- my husband did notice that as well
Another thing to keep in mind is this place is remote- about an hour from the state park and many activities, though boating nearby is easy. If you’re planning to leave and explore the area, keep that in mind because we had hoped for some local hiking but there was nothing within an hour. We did rent a boat one day and got kayaks for two days from TN SUP Rentals. Overall we loved Norris Lake but we won’t be back to this house specifically- there is a for sale sign out front so we assumed that was why there were so many little issues.

We just returned from 7 nights at this property (7-31-2022). We had so many problems, I don't where to start. It was an hour and a half late being ready for us. It was not clean. The cabinets were sticky, the stove filthy, there was a plate of food on top of the frig, cabinets had stuff thrown in. Pots that were Teflon were so scratched they were half Teflon half metal. The three panels you have you cross to get to the boat dock and extremely unsafe and unstable. The middle rocks back and forth so much it almost throws you off. There is also a log stuck underneath it, so if you fall, you aren't falling into just water. The toilet seat was hanging on by one bolt and wasn't fixed until the day before we left. The furniture is so old in the main living room that you can feel the springs and is so uncomfortable. When we were putting stuff on the table for dinner our first night, there was a toenail on it. Puke. The smoke alarm was missing and there were wires hanging out of the wall. I wish I could post the pictures I took. I have asked a manager to call me, but have not heard from anyone. I originally booked this with VRBO and it somehow got transferred to Vacasa. Find another place to stay!

Had a great time in the cabin. Definitely secluded . Only downside is, you Can’t even hardly see the water from the cabin because of the heavy trees . But the short walk to your private dock makes up for that. Private dock ladder was broke when we got there but somebody set it up like it wasn’t. Luckily we realized before one of our elders used it. Could have hurt somebody . Otherwise, great time, great cabin !

Very secluded and beautiful surroundings. Loved the 2 tiered deck that faces the lake. Would stay again. The path leading to the boat dock can be a little treacherous when it rains. The family loved the ability to swim in the cove right off the dock area.
