Wonderful location on quiet street. The house had everything we needed. Amazing views from the deck.

We enjoyed our stay. The home was clean, most things worked, and the host was responsive to communication challenges.
Pros: You have access to the pool & private beach. The hose to rinse off after the beach is on the side of the house, not inside. There are beach cruisers for use, and great views of the sunset from the front porch and balcony. Also, the kitchen is well stocked.
Neutral: Should rent a golf cart. No access to the small private beach across the street.
Cons: Uncomfortable beds.
Thanks for hosting us!

The home was very clean, well maintained & had all necessary items we needed. The neighborhood is under development so few neighbors. We could easily walk to downtown. I would suggest a golf cart if you were going to the beach and had chairs, coolers & toys. We would absolutely stay there again.

Beautiful property! The ice/water dispenser broke and they brought us water bottles when we reported it (hopefully that’s been fixed?). They responded in a timely manner, all in all a wonderful stay!

We’ve been going to Cape Charles with the family for a few years now and this was our first time staying near the marina instead of closer to the main street. The area was lovely with plenty of space for the kids to run around and house was clean and the perfect size for our multi-family trip. The host, Errika, was always sweet and communicated quickly to our questions. The kids loved the mini cereal boxes she left as a small welcome gesture and the house was also stocked plenty with household items (dish soap, dish washer pods, trash bags, paper towel, etc), which was very convenient. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again.

Our stay was amazing. The house was located close to everything we wanted to visit in town. Erikka was extremely responsive when there were questions.

The house was fine if a little weird. There were a lot of little things off like the TV remote didn’t work, the garage was horribly stinky, and one of the showers had the hot and cold indicators on backwards. But overall our main issue was that the host was difficult to work with. We had a misunderstanding where the Darren, one of the hosts, believed we wanted to rent golf carts from them. We were perfectly willing to cancel our other golf cart rental and even pay the cancellation fee in order to use the host’s golf carts, but when I tried to call the host to discuss this on the day of check in, he was so angry about the misunderstanding he repeatedly hung up on me, and rudely said that we would not be able to use his golf carts or anyone else’s at their property during the stay. Since we could not get ahold of him and he repeatedly stated that he would not allow any other golf carts over text, we had to escalate the issue to VRBO customer service since this was not in the house rules or the signed rental agreement. Eventually we were able to get in touch with the other host, Errika, and she was very reasonable and cleared things up with Darren. This all occurred on the first day we checked in, so we were pretty reluctant to deal with the hosts further on the chance there would be any more conflict. We won’t be staying again, and unfortunately can’t recommend this as a relaxing stay.
Otherwise, I will say the house was clean and suited the needs of our family.

We loved our stay in Castaway; perfect space for the family and the host was wonderful! Always responded in a timely and kind way. The home is a little outside of the "downtown"/historic area (which we liked!) so I recommend renting a golf cart for ease....much smoother and better than driving to the beach. While we had challenging weather, the space and view from the porches made outdoor time just as enjoyable. Thank you for the hospitality and great week!

The home was a great home away from home. Very modern with great design features. It was very peaceful and had everything we needed. The only minor issue was the sectional shifts a lot. An area rug underneath should fix that.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunrise by the Bay! It was a wonderful house with lots of room to spread out, fabulous decor, and a lot of thoughtful amenities including food basics such as an assortment of cereals and cooking items. The communication with our host was fantastic. She provided many good tips for our stay including a great recommendation to rent golf carts in order to best get around Cape Charles! The only improvement in my eyes would be a regular grill. The current grill just isn’t made for grilling steaks and burgers. I think it is more for frying fish which I understand is important in order to keep people from frying fish in the house, but wasn’t practical for other meats. Otherwise, it’s a fabulous property and we would definitely return again!!!!

Love how close it is to the town center and beach. The house was immaculate and very roomy. Grand daughters loved fishing the stream behind the house. I wish the upstairs deck had something to prevent water from coming down on the lower deck when it rained. It was great sitting out there in the evenings but would’ve been even better if we could sit out there and watch the rain without getting wet. That was really the only downside. Owners were super responsive to any questions we had! Loved the privacy of the landscape!

The communication with the owners was amazing, from our very first question before renting, to all our questions up to our stay and all the help during our stay. The owners were so kind and even gave their cell phone while we were there that week in case we had questions. The house was absolutely beautiful and very very clean. They were kind enough to start us off with some treats, OJ and plenty of coffee., not to mention the basics like soap, paper products, etc. The location of the house was perfect for everything we wanted to do that week. And the covered deck was amazing to enjoy your morning coffee with the beautiful nature around.

Awesome Cape Charles Rental
We have been coming to Cape Charles with multiple families during the 4th of July week for over a decade and have experienced more then 20 vacation rentals. This one was up there as one of the best for us for a number of reasons. 1) essentially brand new: I am guessing we were one of the first families to stay there. It was spotless and almost no wear and tear. 2) well appointed: had a brand new flat top grill, bikes, beach chairs, beach towels etc. Everything we needed. 3) location: while this is in a newer, less developed area of Bay Creek it was perfect for us. You could see the Cherrystone fireworks as well as the Cape Charles fireworks from the yard/deck and plenty of space for the kids to ride bikes and run around. It is a little further from the beach, but we were well aware of that and we liked the open space of the location 4) responsiveness: owners we extremely responsive upon arrival and honestly everything was smooth during our stay so we didn't need to chat. One of the owners stopped by to see if our group needed another golf cart rental as the whole town is sold out that week (which we took him up on). Five stars, would highly recommend.

Great stay in Cape Charles
Beautiful home in a great location close to downtown and the local brewery. In addition to what you see in the pictures, the house came with 2 beach bikes, 4 beach chairs, supplies to get us started (soap for dishes, laundry, and the bathrooms) and had a flat top grill with propane so that we could cook outdoors. The Owners were very friendly and helpful!
