About this apartment rental
Set on a hillside with stunning countryside views, this is a gem of an apartment beautifully crafted and realised with a private courtyard and infinity pool with a view. Cosy, welcoming and relaxing.
The la Cachette (the hideaway) is a beautifully styled open plan space with unusual arcithectual details. This modern interior has been cleverly crafted from the shell of a ruined farmhouse with stones from the region (pierres de gards) which it wears almost like a disguise so not to spoil the natural setting.
The space is dominated by a wall of windows looking out onto the private courtyard with a shielding peak to protect from some of the sunshine.
Within there are several defined spaces:
- A comfortable seating area for relaxing and looking out to the courtyard and glimpses of the views beyond
- An indoor dining area for when you do not wish to eat outdoors.
- Then there is the sleeping area complete with 160cm bed and oriented so that you wake up with the windows in front of you.
- Behind the main open-plan space there is a kitchen, ideal for cooking for two, there are 2 hobs, a sink, fridge, toaster, and a Nespresso machine.
- On from the kitchen is the high ceilinged shower-room with large walk-in shower, w.c. and wash basin.
Outside there is a large private terrace garden with dining table and a shading umbrella. There is also a gas Plancha for cooking outside. From here you can walk out into the garden or through the gate to the pool terrace.
The pool is a 16m x 2.50m lap pool ideal for swimming with a built-in lounging area (3.80m) in the water utilising the infinity pool edge to take in the views on 2 sides. Once again, this pool has been cleverly designed to use the old farmhouse to disguise itself.
The pool terrace area has sun loungers for relaxing in the sun and has some shelter for those not wishing a little more shade.
The apartment is part of the grounds owned by your host who has his house next door. Although always discreet you may also meet them if they choose to use the pool too.
This views from the hillside look down on the nearby village of Villars about 2 km away and the Vaucluse hills. From here you can take advantage of the many walking trails. There are plenty of good restaurants to choose from in the nearby villages and in Villars itself there are 2 restaurants, a bar and a bakery (serving stone-baked bread).
Just 10 minutes will take you to the interesting medieval village of Roussillon, a few minutes more there is Gordes and Menerbes too. The region to the north and east of Villars also holds many hidden villages that rest almost untouched from the medieval beginnings.
The cities of Avignon. Aix en Provence and Marseille can be reached within an hour to hour and a half and so will the local beaches near Marseille
Whether you are coming to enjoy the Provencal countryside, food and wine or simply for some relaxation and star gazing you will find la Cachette is the ideal place for you.

Martin called my wife and I the day of arrival to be sure everything was to our liking and to make sure we had no issues. He checked in throughout our stay to ensure we had what we need and responded quickly to any questions we had.
They were nice enough to let us use of their clothes washer, as we had been traveling the week before and need to clean clothes for our next week stay.
The building we stayed in was essentially one room. It houses our queen bed, dresser and table for 2 people. A fan was included, which was needed as there is no air conditioning in the building. There was plenty of air flow with the side window open and the fan running, so we were never uncomfortable during the night.
The room did have a small kitchen and bathroom attached. The kitchen housed a small sink and small fridge and an electric range (we never used the range). Utensils and dishes were also made available.
The bathroom had a stand-up shower, toilet and sink. The only negatives were there was not a lot of countertop room in the bathroom to set down toiletries on, but we made do.
The pool was a perfect size for both of us to cool down from a day of exploring the nearby towns, which most were very close and pleasant to explore. The views of the countryside were amazing night or day. The next door neighbors were very friendly. Apt is just 10 minutes away and has a big supermarke to buy what you need. We had a lovely stay and highly recommend.

Wonderful location with outstanding view. Peaceful and quiet with Apt as a “Ville Fleury” close by. We felt like home.

We had a fantastic stay at this wonderful location. Martin our host could not have been nicer and was so helpful. This is a lovely quiet location but close to the unspoilt village of Villars. There are magnificent views from the property. The swimming pool is so brilliantly designed with the old walls of the property- will go back again - stunning.
