The room was quite dirty. What looked like blood on pillow. Bathroom rusty. Hair everywhere. Toilet paper on bathroom floor. Splashes all up wall behind desk. Carpet gross. Smelt a bit funny. Needs a DEEP CLEAN

Lovely country hotel with old features in this old Scottish building. Decor a little tired and door lock didn’t work on my room door the first night which was fixed promptly the next morning.

The rooms are comfy and well appointed with good facilities. On site parking, nice location. Breakfast is good the last two stays the evening meals have t been good at all. Explain to team on check out on both occasions.

Room was a good size, heating easy to control. Room seemed to have everything I needed and exactly where I wanted it, good design. Very dark and quiet at night, nice bathroom.

10 out of 10 lovely hotel and very friendly staff
2.5 / 5.0
The room was spacious and the bathroom great. Service was brilliant, nothing at all to complain about. Alas, there was a domestic incident in the room next door one night but this has nothing to do with the hotel. The staff reacted quickly and dealt with it well. Will definitely go back on future visits to Aberdeen.

Amazing hotel, great food and good facilities but did need a car to go anywhere.
We couldn’t walk down to the river which we had hoped we could, the hotel grounds were nice but didn’t include the river :( and no public transport to get into Aberdeen for a night out so taxi or driving and with a week long stay we did want to try out different venues for food.
Location of hotel was great for getting out along Royal Deeside, into Aberdeen, down to Stonehaven and many other great places in the area.

We came here for a much needed “chill” break. It was just perfect. We had a privilege room with a king size bed. It was very spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable. The pool, sauna, steam room and spa areas are immaculate. All of the staff are very polite, courteous, extremely helpful and friendly. There was a great selection of food at breakfast and both restaurants in the hotel offer a very high standard of food. We would highly recommend staying and eating in this hotel, we will certainly be back.

Attended a wedding at the beginning of October and booked to stay the night. When i contacted the hotel to book with the wedding discount code, noone could tell us the price with the discount, i ended up booking on a different booking app.On checking in to our room it appeared ok.After the wedding meal which was poor, part of the meal was missing and it was cold.
We went back to the room for my wife to get her medication only to discover none of the lights were working. after 3 attempts to contact reception someone came to the room and said they would try to find us another room. After waiting for about 30 minutes she came back to tell us we had a room on another floor. There was no offer of help to get our stuff together in the dark and move rooms.
The new room was dirty, cobwebs in the bedroom, windowsills paint coming off and bathroom mould on the tiles around shower.
Cost of drinks extertionate £13.95 for a small glass of white wine !!
Only 1 person serving at bar who had to keep going to another bar for drinks and change and glassess. When there is an event on surely you would make sure there is enough staff on bar and bar is stocked with drinks, glassess and change.
Breakfast was ok.
I would not be recommending this hotel it is in need of a makeover.

The room was not part of the original granite building. Some doors in the corridors were totally battered and desperately in need of fresh paint. Room itself was nice and bathroom was new. Great cleaning staff.

Fantastic. Very clean and friendly staff.

Well, despite the advert stating that the "Executive room" booking had "2 bedrooms' and could sleep 3 people, there was only the one king size bed. Quite how that could accommodate 3 people, i could not understand. Perhaps if you were a broad minded "thruple'..? Anyways, this room was for my son and i. We questioned this on the night and the receptionist said she'd "never seen that ad", despite it being prominent and stated many times on the hotels.com website. However she stated that they would make our beds into twin beds the next day. This turned out to be a false promise as zero was done about this the next day. Also there was no remote control for the television. Again i asked about this at the reception and the less than cheerful lady gave me one which turned out not to work. So we had to make do with the 1980s style of working the telly by the buttons on the telly itself. Overall the room was fairly comfortable, but very inaccurate compared to the hotels.com website. Plus the total disinterest and lack of help from reception was not ideal.

Hotel very nice, staff excellent. Room very comfortable but a bit of a distance to it (room 149) when carrying heavy luggage.

Check in was very poor. Had to wait for receptionist to send a message on her mobile (although she did apologise) but our main issue was that we were given no directions to our room….and got lost!
Check out was marginally better but staff could have been more engaging. It doesn’t take much to ask you how your stay was or wish you a safe journey and thank you for staying.
Room was excellent. Very comfortable and well furnished. Staff we met in the corridors always spoke and were helpful.
Big plus was the Leisure Club. Lovely pool with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna (although steam room wasn’t working when we were there!). Very friendly and helpful staff.
Dining in the hotel was mixed. We used Soapie’s which offered a good choice of well priced meals. Settee was badly ripped but otherwise good environment. It was hard to tell whether some of the staff were guests as they seemed more interested in chatting to friends. However as the evening wore on I thought they got better and were more attentive. Food was a good quality and served quickly.
Hotel is set in lovely grounds and is well situated for touring the area. Be aware that you have to go outside the main building to reach the leisure club.

Stunning old place lots of character

Room was lovely and breakfast was great.
Service in the evening was very poor. Waited half an hour for drinks for our meal and then again at the bar. Food was sent back as it was cold in the middle. They returned it, still cold in the middle.
Receptionist at check out was great and compensated us for the poor service. That sort of service would make us return.

This was a lovely quick stay. It’s an interesting hotel. The old Lodge at the front with a huge number of rooms well designed into the rear. Our room was excellent probably fairly recently renovated exec room with some thoughtful extras in it. Great huge bed that was very comfy. Breakfast was plentiful with some great choices. We took a walk over to pool and spa area. Some info about this in room and on visiting would have added. Overall for what we paid, this was great value and I would recommend a stay here

We had a great stay for two nights at Ardoe House. The facilities were lovely, staff super kind and friendly, and food was great. Its just a short 15 drive/cab into the heart of Aberdeen but totally peaceful and gorgeous grounds so felt like an escape to nature in a lovely manor home!

This was our third visit and we enjoyed our stay but the cleanliness of the bedroom wasn't up to the previous standard.
Good spa facilities and good location.

The service in the bar was beyond poor. Every table we sat at was dirty and the bar was full of dirty glasses. You had to stand in a queue to get served by the 1 member of staff that looked like she would rather be anywhere else…. We ordered food and be the description in the menu (and the price) it was going to be gourmet cuisine…it arrived like warm and - at best - was about half as good as the slop you’d get from a witherspoons. This will be why they insist on taking FULL payment for the food when you order.
A pint of lager and a G&T was SUPER EXPENSIVE after you waited in line for 10 mins to get it.
I was embarrassed to be local to the area seeing foreign holiday makers arrive….
Never again will I stay here and I advise any one to stay well clear unless they enjoy overpaying for terrible food and service.

We had a 4 night stay with our dog, the room was clean and the breakfast was excellent,, the staff were friendly and efficient. We used the spa facilities, which gain were good. Would definitely return to the hotel and will look forward to our next visit.

The property was full of character, lovely helpful staff and quiet throughout the night , the breakfast was exceptional. Unfortunately when we went to our room it smelled of dogs which was awful. This was rectified quickly and another room was offered. The reception staff were very accommodating and helpful about this matter .

Great venue to attend a wedding. Great swimming pool.. expensive menu in restaurant.. but maybe cheaper in bar/grill drinks are expensive wine by glass £13.+!!

A warm greeting from reception on arrival, we had booked a pet friendly room which had a surcharge, the room was the furthest from reception but had access to a fire door into the garden which was a plus, the bedroom however needed investment - wall paper peeling off and paintwork with marks all over, the bathroom wasn't clean, iron and ironing board didn't work.
The service from the staff all over the hotel was welcoming, in the restaurant on Friday night we enjoyed our food with the exception of the smoked tofu and beetroot salad, the tofu wasn't smoked and the dressing was very oily - shame as it sounded so nice.
Buffet breakfast was nice with the exception of coffee and sausages.
The grounds are wonderful we enjoyed a lovely sunset on Friday night.

Edwardian opulence and decor with a strong Scottish flavour... good food and variety at breakfast though with the inherent drawbacks of the large buffet....

Hotel is lovely staff where friendly.. rooms are great.. the only downside hence the 4 stars was it wasn’t the cleanest., but that to me is housekeeping not been the best.. I worked in hospitality for many years and know it isn’t easy to get decent staff.. but don’t let that put you off.! Pity they weren’t nearer as I run a cleaning company and would be sending a team over asap to sort out the cleaning.. will be back when we are next up that way

Lovely property within lovely grounds, close to the city yet you have the feeling of being out in the countryside. Room was great, nice size, clean & with a lovely bathroom. Unfortunately for us the food let down our visit. Visited Blair’s restaurant and unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment which is a shame as the hotel is so nice & in great surroundings. It was a special occasion and we ordered steaks which to be honest were not great at all. Paid £48 for a fillet steak cooked medium rare and was served a well done steak, not even 100% sure it was a fillet. It was literally pub grub and something you’d expect to be served in weatherspoons. It’s a shame as otherwise the stay was great, but would not return due to the dining.

Lovely hotel in fantastic setting, with great leisure facilities and good food.
Food in restaurant was superb and good sized portions.
Whilst the hotel is dog friendly the rooms for dogs are at the very far end of the hotel - the longest walk possible!!! And at £20 was a little expensive compared to most others we have stayed in.
Our room looked out onto a wall about 1m away so not ideal and was right beside a pump room where pumps switched on/off frequently.
Would go back but probably not with our chihuahua next time.

Ardoe house was a perfect stay for my very first visit to Scotland. It provided all the amenities I needed fur a week’s stay - from coffee in our room for an early morning treat, to a delivery of glass stemmed wine glasses for a delicious bottle of wine we could enjoy in our cozy comfortable room!

Liked the quiet property. The staff member at the breakfast area needs to be trained on how to address people. Not welcoming, did not explain the options, barely spoke. Needs customer service training. Food was really well presented and lots of options. Rooms were not as clean as can be, needed a good clean and vacuum. The Merry Christmas card was an interesting touch in August.

Long hallways, beautiful grounds, 2 very helpful front desk persons, yet very little to do. Having a car is important.

Who doesn't want to stay in a castle? This place takes you right back to it. The rooms were very comfortable and the on-site amenities were great.
1.0 / 5.0
The receptionist on arrival did not have any authority so any enquirers took an age to sort. She could not offer me an upgrade. Waited nearly 1 hour having explained that I had just driven 12 hours needed to rest so went to the room therefore stayed in the room they had given.
The room was tired and needing an touch of TLC as did the hotel in general.
The staff did their best however it seemed that weekend staff had the short straw. There was wedding on Saturday and something else on the Sunday, I felt I was last in the queue when wanting anything.
5.0 / 5.0
All in all a great place to stay. Food ordering and bar could be a bit more organized but quality was good. We enjoyed very much
1.5 / 5.0
Even though I had an animal with me I do understand some people are allergic to animals and don’t understand why all rooms for animals are at the furthest away point in the hotel meaning you have to track all the way through the hotel with your pet. The rooms were not the cleanest the bathroom needed a good scrub down and the carpet a really good hoover and when windows were opened all the spider webs were unbelievable
