We found the lady at check in to be an absolute delight. Personable, well-spoken and helpful. Our room was larger than expected, spotless, and quiet (top floor). Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and well stocked. A bit more expensive than some hotels in the area but worth the extra!
4.1
The hotel was a little run down, but has good and friendly staff.

The conciege who welcomed us at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful in explaining what we needed to know and he gave us a good tip where to have dinner, namely the Brasserie de la Gare just across from the hotel. While our room had a slightly aged appearance due to the fact that the hotel is 100 years old, everything needed was there. The refrigerator was well stocked and working well, the queen-sized bed was comfortable. The bathroom was completely renovated with new tiles and a modern glass enclosed showerstall, quite nice. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would book it again, except for the breakfast. Breakfast consists of a self service buffet that at first look seems rather nice, which you would expect for the price 20 Euros per person. However we have had better baguettes, the smoked salmon was salty, the cold cuts were of the cheaper kinds of wurst, no scrambled eggs or fried sausages, and the coffee was not very good. 20 Euros for this kind of a buffet is too much, 10 Euros would be adequate. There are better breakfast deals in the restos in the trainstation just across from the hotel

Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and comfortable bed. However, the room needs renovation: wallpaper torn in places, noisy air conditioning.

Hotel de France could use an interior renovattion. The building is absolutely beautifu.
The area is absolutely perfect, great food and drinks all around the hotel and Angers is an amazing city
4.1
Very nice facility and spacious bedrooms, well maintained and attended. The area is not the best in town but convenient

Property was close to all activities in the city. Room was a bit warm at night with no way to regulate the temperature.

The staff was very friendly and professional, good breakfast options (eggs and salmon were perfect), quiet hotel and everything you might need in the room for a trip. Ideally located next to the station and the city centre.

The gentleman on check-in was delightful - we had had trouble with our car and were a bit stressed! The window in our room had been left open (with radiator switched off) because the previous guest had smoked!! He very quickly sorted the gremlins. However, our meal in the Bistrot was disappointing - did not have a bottle of our wine selection, forgot my knife & fork (used on the starter) for my main meal, which was inedible as overcooked and tasteless! (fish & chips - you normally cannot ruin). The waitress said she couldn't take it off the bill (even though I couldn't eat it) but would give me cheese "gratis" - sadly I accepted her offer but felt, on reflection, I should have insisted. This affected our decision not to stay here again as I think the quality, or not, reflects on the hotel and we expected better. I shall continue to use Logis Hotels in the future and not deviate as it is not worth it.

The hotel equipment was a little dated, but honestly the room was nice and clean, the breakfast was good and the service was impeccable.

Very helpful staff. Hotel itself needs some refurbishment but overall an agreeable stay.

Excellent location, right across the street from the train station. Great variety of bars, bistros, cafes, and shops nearby. Plenty of sights to see within walking distance. Rooms are larger than a typical old French hotel. English ability of front desk staff is more than adequate. Rental cars across the street st station.

The information on the Expedia site would indicate this was a 4 Star hotel, all was misleading. Although the hotel may have had the required facilities to reach the points to gain a high rating in reality it was no better than a 2 Star Hotel. the room was small and badly equipped and laid out. The bedroom was a mismatch of items with very old (looking) furniture and new department chain store like cupboard and writing desk with another wardrobe located in the rooms hallway The bathroom was very small with minimal toiletries and only soap dispensers, one of which was empty, and one bottle of shampoo. The parking was on the street if you can find it or 0.25Km away in a rail station complex. the restaurant was bistro and the breakfast consisted of a cold buffet with one warm dish.

We had a great night here. Just a one night stop over but the room and service were great, the bistro downstairs perfect for a quick dinner and the breakfast set us up for the day ahead.

Waited to long to book and found the Best Wester Angers already booked. This place was OK, the staff were nice and location OK but the building is showing it's age and is in need of updating.

Liked the location.

This hotel is quite plain, in the best sense of the word. We stayed at a half dozen hotels during a recent trip to France and this was by far the most satisfactory. Cost very modest, the location good, the room very simple without any decoration to speak of, but large, with a nice view, plus refrigerator. Staff very nice. I gave this hotel an "excellent" rating because, in contrast to every other hotel in which we stayed, it had nothing wrong with it while offering numerous thoughtful small amenities.

I had an amazing time at the Hotel de France. The room was great value and everyone was lovely and helpful. The connecting restaurant was delicious and I would love to stay here again.

Knew nothing about Angers when we arrived. We were disappointed with the hotel. We booked a Privilege room but found it was a little garrett room in the attic. The girl on the desk said that was a Privilege room! Angers is actually quite pretty in places. There is an enormous fort/castle and a pretty riverside. Lots of restaurants but not many are really good. We stumbled across the best one, we thought.

Here is the best location for stay and sight seeings in Anges.

Small problem with room key so we had to handle it the old fashioned way by a real key(not electronic). But the staff was very helpful and concerned. Beautiful, clean room on top floor with great views of Angers.

i have not stay at an 4 star hotel doesn't supply shampoo for the guest. althea have was one type of liquid soap for everything..........
it's conveniently located across from the Angers' rail station. It is in a college town, the receptionists speaks fluent English which is very helpful.

I have arrived here around 50 times and collected by by French friends who stay nearby. First time I have actually stayed here and be le place de la gare. So central and all is walking distance. Loved all all sights and bistros in old town

We were pleased overall with this hotel. We found staff to be most helpful and courteous. An initial problem with the safe was sorted out to our satisfaction fairly quickly.. The room was kept clean and tidy during our stay. The staff responsible did a good job. To our surprise and delight tea and coffee making facilities appeared on the second full day of our stay. We had assumed that these were not part of the service, but as it was a brand new machine then obviously this must have been a replacement .The room was quiet even though it was at the front. The double glazing worked well , as also did the remote control air conditioning. Yes, this hotel was okay. Thank You.
4.1
An ideal location for tourists arriving by train, the hotel is right opposite the station, and only a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants and the chateau of Angers. Staff were friendly and helpful; rooms were well cleaned. My room had somewhat excessive central heating with large hot pipes running the height of the room. However the bed was comfortable and bathroom pleasant. We had one meal in the bistro which was fine. A mezzanine lounge in the hotel provided tea and coffee on tap and comfortable seats.

Next to train station. Old, dated, simple furniture, but clean. Reasonable price. Nothing special but okay place for the night.
