My wife and I love the rustic atmosphere, location and accommodations. We loved the grounds and the town of Volcano. A great getaway for us.

I was so happy to have an affordable non-resort option with a private bathroom (SO IMPORTANT). The property was gorgeous. The room was really cool. The shower was GOALS for sure. The dehumidifier was an enormous help and made my stay super comfortable. I would love to stay here again next time I'm on the island.

This place will forever hold a special place in my heart, I got engaged in this jungle! :)
The unit was so cozy! The the interior was as if I was living in a modern stay. Check in was easy, and checking out was easier.
I loved it here, and I would recommend it to my friends and family who plan on visiting the Volcano National Park!
Pro tip: Grocery stores are are about 30-40 minutes away! Make sure to stop somewhere and pick up anything you may need. They have bowls, utensils, microwave, mini fridge, and wine glasses.

Loved this little hide away and they upgraded our room for free so it was a lovely surprise!

I stayed here for 3 nights. The room was large and unique which we loved. However, within 10 minutes after checking in I saw a roach & then another on our last night. I informed the property and was told it would be addressed. Not an apology or nothing.

The room has eclectic charm with shaped painted concrete walls. The room was comfortable and clean. The chalet is conveniently located to the national park.

Beautiful little group of rooms overlooking a lovely koi pond. Quit and romantic and with miles of the volcano national park and a short drive to Hilo. Only downside was that dining options were limited in Volcano during the week and so to had to drive back to Hilo area for food.

This property is very charming and quiet in an area. That is so busy with tourists right now. It’s a little oasis in the rainforest. The room was clean and utterly charming. (106). we were able to relax and enjoy our time there. There are no amenities at the hotel itself but nearby there are plenty of shops and restaurants hidden in the rainforest.

I knew little about this location before booking but the photos looked very interesting. They did not disappoint. The Chalet is a hidden jungle gem located near Volcano Village. It makes one feel they are deep in a tropical village. The decoration, design, and amenities made this place seem magical. The grounds at night give you the feeling of being in an imaginary setting. Truely a great place to stay and visit the park.

I loved the remote experience, the calming rainforest and the unique build of the rooms!

Our bedsheets were not clean. They had blood on the pillow case and some kind of brown stain on the sheets. The rest of the place was clean but this was incredibly unsettling and inconvenient

This such a cute property. My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable and the nearby restaurants were marked on the provided map. Its a little far away from activities.

We felt immediately at peace when we arrived at Chalet Kilauea. The grounds are serene, and at night the lights are red which reminded us of lava. Our room was extremely clean, and they already had the heater and a quiet humidifier on which made it incredibly comfortable. The bed and pillows were the perfect combination of supportive but soft. The views made us feel like we were in our own paradise with beautiful sounds of birds and frogs. The amenities in the room were well stocked, the shower had great water pressure with water that stayed warm. We absolutely loved the quirky decor so unique to this property which made it even more charming. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a hideaway! It was an amazing experience.
We double-booked this over our condo in Kona because we wanted to be close to the east side of the island for two separate days of adventure and it was so worth it! Day 1: We recommend Hilo and waterfalls followed by stargazing at the volcano (we saw lava at night!) Day 2: hike the volcano and other parts of the National park, then make visits along trails and black sand beaches on the south side on the way back to Kona.

If you are going to Volcanos National Park, this is a fantastic location. It only took us 6 minutes to get to the park. It was very clean. I would love to hear the story behind it- the rooms are like works of art. Very funky. Beautiful really. An odd layout- our room didn’t have a chair to sit in to put on my shoes. Just 2 barstools. It is a no- host facility so be prepared to be by yourself in what seems like a remote place. The birds are amazing- you will feel like you are in a rainforest.

Incredible. Once in a lifetime jungle getaway. This coming from born and raised locals - a one of a kind place to stay in Hawaii. We came to Volcano during an off-peak day and they upgraded our rooms to suites which were stunning. I'm a 30+ country world traveler and this is 5 stars in every way. Impeccable interior design as well. Be smart - book this now.

The actual room was very nice and the area quiet.
Close driving distance to the national park.
There were no staff there and it was self check in.I think only 1 other person staying there when we were there, so it felt very isolated set back in the forested area, that part was a little creepy. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay there as a single person.

Was not aware this place was self service/ self check-in until after it was booked. The facility is unique & not for everyone. The Koi pond & garden is nice but can use some TLC. It is close to the Volcano National Park.

A house in a rainforest. This is an unique experience for us.

Expensive. Furniture rickety. Loud from dehumidifier and heater. Bed comfortable. Used kitchen sponge. No directions for garbage removal or emptying the dehumidifer, which filled up in less than a day. No comfortable place to be when not in bed.

Unique experience in a generous size room. The coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator were a welcome surprise. Loved the large bathroom and comfortable bed.

Interesting place. It was self check-in which was different, room very clean but strange set up. All in all, had a good time.

Could be charming, but grounds are neglected and furniture inadequate. ONE chair for a "self-catering" room? Does the second guest stand to eat? Room had 2 small nightstands and one larger that doubled as the "counter" for the "self-catering" barely enough room to prepare coffee. Our companions' room did not even have the self-catering for one friendly worker that we happened to meet b/c we found the property early, saw no one. Note on advance email that "there are only two of us for 3 properties" apparently was the excuse. Must email to communicate, phone calls unanswered. My advance email went unanswered. Dirty, sagging cushions on the porch chairs. Dead ferns & foliage lying all around. That is not "ecological." Business cards state "mini wet bar" and "cable TV." TVs were mounted, w/ a sign "do not work-amenity coming in the future." Sign in lobby "to print boarding passes, see front desk;" which did not exist. Because of confusion about how to enter the locked interior, some guests looked for their units via the unit porch doors, which HAD NO NUMBERS. At 11 PM an arriving guest tried his key in our exterior door. We are familiar w/ Volcano; stayed at another property in in the past. We know that none are luxurious, but this property was unacceptable, except for the bathroom. Tiny, but beautiful new tile work in the shower. Apparently the electrical wiring is not quite adequate, however, as there were instructions & warnings about using the hair dryer.

This probably is poorly kept and dirty. I was shocked to see insects everywhere, dirty walls and carpet, and damaged furniture and bed with exposed staples. Staying here may leave you with an infection of some sort.

Amazing night in the middle of Volcano. The room was comfortable and clean as well as the bathroom. The check in and out was easy to do it, they give you all the instructions before arriving. I’ll recommend this place. Keep it up!
