Good for the price, centrally located and good base for exploring area.

Great place to stay, very central to the town, staff were very pleasant and helpful, our room was clean and quite spacious.
So all in all, we had a pleasant stay, at the Argyll, and would visit it again A

Perfect location. This hotel has the potential to be perfect but sadly it’s not. Old, dated and not very clean.
Room was huge but didn’t feel or look clean. Shower had empty bottle from previous resident left in the corner. Shower didn’t drain very well leaving you feeling like you may flood the bathroom.
Check in was easy and the staff nice.

Lovely staff and clean room but property is outdated.

The hotel is conveniently located for the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants. The staff at reception, in the restaurant and the bar were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful although the quality of cooked food was average. The food in the Rio restaurant was fine but the service was extremely slow - also there was no red Italian wine on the menu at a restaurant that describes itself as Italian (??). Our room was clean (apart from some mould in the shower) and over-furnished with slightly rickety furniture - the bed was not very comfortable, with very noisy mattress springs. Overall we had a pretty good stay.

Great hotel and great location

Getting run down.
Very noisey outside until early hours.
3.8
Friendly staff and bed was comfy.
Overall the hotel was pretty tired in my room, but could be different in other rooms.
3.8
Great location and staff. Comfortable, clean and good facilities
3.8
Very friendly and helpful staff. Central location close to all amenities and walking distance to ferry.
3.8

I have stayed in the Argyle Hotel numerous times so I am comfortable with the staff and the surroundings The rooms are.cleaned every day and any items used are replenished The breakfast staff are like family and the food good
3.8
Very friendly staff the hotel is dated and needs updating but after saying that it is a old building and is tight in the centre of town

The gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant and personable. He made check in and out excellent.

Let’s start with what we liked. The Indian meal was tasty. The waiters were pleasant and attentive. The bedlinen was clean. Now for the dislikes. Besides the dining areas the hotel is very shabby. We were in room 327 which appeared to be even more so with wallpaper coming off the walls, damp patches, cracked tiles and overall very, very tired. Very few people appeared to be staying but all of us were put on the top floor. One would think the management might think to put the few guests they are having into the best rooms available. The hotel is very expensive for what it provides. Take my advice and stay elsewhere.

Great value for money.
Didn't dislike anything.
3.8
Hotel is very dated and badly needs some money spent on it
No on site parking is an issue
Breakfast was excellent

The over all condition of the hotel room needs up grading. Bathroom window held closed with a bottle. Tv with no tv remote.
3.8
The hotel is run down, the stairway smells terrible. The decor throughout is in poor condition. The room was dirty, walls full of marks, mould in the bathroom. The carpet was very worn and smells. The plug sockets near the bed worked one minute then not the next. Water in the room not replaced after day 1. Only ate breakfast and it was just ok but was obvioulsy all pre cooked and reheated ( sometimes anyway as the beans were cold one day )
All in all a poor hotel that seems to have no interest in trying anymore. They have clearly given up and it shows. Wouldn’t recommend or return
3.8
Not much to expect for £50 a night, but its a tired place. Service in the Bar and Restaurant was poor and the food was basic. The ensuite room in 123 left much to the imagination how you fit in, and the shower could do with some attention.
3.8
Maybe the best option in downtown Dunoon

Another great stay at this friendly hotel, Cowal games weekend, great place, the people & surrounding businesses are all very helpful & friendly, we love this place, feels like our second home. The Argyll Hotel has always been our choice of place to stay, staff are great & very accommodating, rooms are lovely & the restaurants within hotel are fantastic. Hotel is very central for everywhere in Dunoon, always had a great experience here & will definitely be back soon

Staff are trying hard, but the place is in need of an intense makeover. The hallway on the first floor is caving in, the lift may or may not be a hazard and water leaked badly in 2/3 bathrooms which led us to believe there might be mold. We booked for the Cowal games but the mob of teenagers on the steps was disconcerting and the carnival and partying kept us up until the wee hours. The fire alarm going off at 7 in the morning (maybe due to hairspray being sprayed) was the icing on the cake.
3.8
Very run down, beds shot, box springs very dirty
3.8
Staff were, in general terms, very good. 3 night stay, bed not made up, carpets not hoovered, had to ask for water, tea coffee to be replaced, biscuits not replaced. Floor tiles in bathroom cracked, chips in bath and shower hose broken at shower head. Overall mark would have been lower were it not for the staff who in general were very good. Food was good, as were bar prices.
3.8
Clean comfy room and excellent staff.

Best hotel staff are amazing foods delioiusios couldn’t fault the hotel in any way .. spot on with everything 😁😁
3.8
Quite a dated hotel but right on the main street so great location. Showers are terrible, not great having a cold shower in the morning.
Also woke up by the fire alarm at 8am as someone was using deodorant in their room. Surely the smoke detectors should tell the difference.

Pleasant stay

Staff were friendly and helpful. Location in Dunoon is central, unfortunately the hotel is showing signs of its age and needs some investment. Had breakfast once but not a wow so didn't bother the next morning. The room also wasn't as clean as I would of expected. The Pub across the road was noisy but that's to be expected.
3.8
The rooms were very small. Bed comfortable enought shower and toilet could do with updating.
3.8
Hotel staff, John in particular, were friendly, attentive and happy to make our stay the best it could be.
3.8
I loved my stay. I was so glad when I enquired about the walks I the area, on my return I found print out of selected walks. The lady at the reception was so helpful! Thank you
