I wish every B&B owner would take note of this property! Honestly one of the best experiences. From the moment you drive through the area. Such a quaint New England block with beautiful homes. The foyer had a wonderful scent of Fall. Staff was so friendly. The home is tastefully decorated. Our room was beautiful. Room #4. Very comfortable. Tv,AC, sitting area, incredibly comfortable bed/bedding, ample storage, fully equipped bathroom with plenty of hooks (nothing worse than a bathroom with no hooks/towel rack). Our breakfast was delicious too. Thank You Copper Beech Inn for a wonderful Fall getaway. Can't wait to return!!

From start to finish, this was a great stay. We arrived in time to enjoy a bottle of champagne (which we brought along) seated on the front porch of the entrance. We were pleased to open our room #4 door to a room in the hotel proper, which was large, very clean, bright and sunny. The bathroom has been recently updated with an enormous shower/tub with a radiant heat floor. Toasty warm feet on a chilly fall morning! The breakfast included in the price of the room was beyond expectation, and we were seated in the glassed in atrium portion of the restaurant. The coffee and eggs were excellent, and the service was attentive.

Great rooms but the airconditioning is loud and sounds like an airplane in the room. The restaurant is limited and very expensive. No room service but breakfast was an awesome experience and free with room.

The gardens to the East of the glassed in sun porch where we enjoyed breakfast for two mornings are very attractive and obviously well cared for. The sun room itself was an enjoyable setting for breakfast.
The staff members were all extremely pleasant and seemed quite happy to be working there.
Our room in the adjacent building at the very back of the property was very spacious. The bathroom even has a jacuzzi tub besides a spacious walk-in shower. We were very pleased with the accommodations.

We had a wonderful visit. Our room was very elegant and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful with flowers and well kept shrubs all around.
We had dinner at the inn restaurant. It was delicious, breakfast was most enjoyable too.

Very nice place to stay. Staff are excellent.

Staff was very nice, eager to please and hard-working. Food was excellent and service in restaurant was generally very good.
Property needs some TLC however. These are ownership issues and not day-to-day management concerns:
Torn wallpaper stairwell wall and landing. Dim wall light in hallway to room. Non-functioning smoke detector in hallway ceiling. No fire extinguisher in 2nd floor hallway (bracket was empty).
Mattress saggy. No tea/coffee in room.

Some confusion about the room was corrected quickly. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. There were some minor repairs needed but, as it’s still the off season, I’m sure they’re on the to do list. The grounds were beautiful and it looks like an expansion is underway. The restaurants food was superb and we could have eaten there every night. Breakfast was exceptional.

The Copper Beech Inn was top class years ago, but is shabby now, with mildew, shoddy repair work and tired furnishings. The continental breakfast was disappointing, considering the price of our room, and the staff were indifferent.

Checked in on Friday afternoon and quickly dropped out bags off in the room before we had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. When we went back to our room that night, there was a smell, kind of like cigarette smoke. (We noticed that the door on the smoke alarm was open and the battery had been removed.) The smell was still bad the next morning, so we notified the front desk. They were fully booked and unable to move us. We ended up moving to a different hotel for the rest of our stay. Beyond the smell, the room wasn't in the condition that I would have expected for $350/night, such as the peeling wallpaper in the bathroom.

The Inn is charming, we had a wonderful dinner in the attractive dining room and the rooms in the outer building where we stayed were large and lovely. There were a number of steps required to access the building with our rooms, however, which were challenging for my mother. I’m not sure what was going on around the property, but the grounds on one side were torn up and rather unattractive.

First time ever staying here. We were at a local wedding near by. It is a very cute place. Driving to the building all the way in the back where we were staying but very unlevel. Lots of holes driving up. Breakfast they said comes with the stay. It's not really breakfast it's muffins and bagels with yogurt or cereal. Other local places to eat near by. Our room was very nice. The place could definitely use some updating for sure but it was cute. The service was great! If you want water bottles. I would bring your own. They do have 1 blue bottle of water that I'm pretty sure you have to pay for. Otherwise it was very nice with our walk out balcony.

This could have been a great stay but there was so much wood damage to the bathtub, mounding and ceiling in our room that it really took away from the overall experience.
surprising they would rent this room given its condition

I was a previous guest a dozen years ago and I will say the experience was extremely disappointing this time around. The staff is unprepared and overwhelmed with the exception of our inner server. The most important complaint is the breakfast. If you are going to call yourself a B&B, you must have more than boxed sugar cereals, stale bagels and danishes. What happened to the fluffy eggs, home made baked goods and fresh fruit of the past? This was even wore than a Holiday INN free breakfast. Bad..

Great jacuzzi, a little stingy with soap (one tiny disc provided) and towels -- would have appreciated knowing ahead of time about all the stairs up to our room but Expedia doesn't provide that info. We could have used help with our large suitcase but there wasn't any staff to provide that service. Large comfortable room with a good bed.

Never have I ever had such terrible experience at any hotels or inns. From the beginning to the very end, the staff was rude, incompetent, and unapologetic for all the wrong doings. There is nothing positive about this place as it is quite run down like the other reviews said with moldy and limey bathrooms, but I was expecting some small town charm and good breakfast at the very least (the breakfast was worse than a hospital cafeteria). This was the absolute bottom of any hospitality experience and surprised the owner decided to do nothing about its horrific staff service nor the property.
In comparison, there are such beautiful inns with kind and competant staff and great character in the close vicinity (such as chatfield hollow inn or water’s edge resort, with even better pricing, which I am guessing as they are doing better with their business), make sure you save yourself from this horrific experience at copper beech inn at all cost!!!

This is a wonderful place to stay! The rooms are very clean and all the staff was great. There is access to many sites.

The place has a ton of potential. I realize staffing shortages are a reality. However, Our room was very nice but the carpet was white and lacked a good vacuum and cleaning. Pathways were run over by debris. Gutters and weeds. The area behind was overrun by growth and dead brush. Just an overall scrub would help.

Clean, luxurious room with a great bed and lovely linens. Bathroom was spotless.

Could hear people walking upstairs. The breakfast was minimal only carbohydrates. The dinner was expensive and fair,

We loved it here! Our room was nice and cold on a hot day and very clean! Probably the best nights sleep in a very long time! Our bed was so comfortable!

On a country road only a 5-minute drive from the fascinating town of Essex on the mouth of the Connecticut River, this is a traditional, handsome setting with excellent service and food.
We stayed in one of the newer outer buildings, and our room was spacious and nicely updated. Service was outstanding. Outer buildings an ADA challenge but not the older central inn.
We had a great stay.

We stayed here for our anniversary these last couple of days. It is a lovely property though we though the main building is not connected to the building where our room was and we had to drive back and forth between them. There is a lovely english garden with a fountain as well. Our room was very nice and spacious with a beautiful bed, huge bathtub and good sized shower. The only odd thing was we couldn't find the light switch for the reading lights! We had to keep unplugging them. The breakfast is pretty much as minimal as it gets (bagels, cereal and muffins). The one really irritating issue we had, and the one that drops the rating for the place was the Massage Therapy services. One of the reasons I picked this property over another was because they said on their website that they have massage services. We called in advance and told the innkeeper we'll be arriving late so we wanted to book the massage in advance so we have no issues. They wouldn't give us the number for the massage therapist but instead said she will contact us back. When we arrived we received a message that for our entire stay they have no availability to provide massage services. That really put a damper on things for us. There was nothing we could have done differently to get the massage services they advertise on their website. This isn't a pool being out of order, this is plain our not having a service that was advertised on their website. This really felt like felt like false advertising.

Our getaway to the Copper Beech Inn was superb! There is such an ambiance of elegance, beauty, joy and care. Everything is immaculate and the floral gardens are truly beautiful. The staff appears to truly enjoy their work and they put forth their best effort to make certain guests are enjoying their stay. So appreciate the serenity experienced.

Not a review of the property, but a review of Expedia. As a filter, I put in pet friendly and this Inn popped up. I carelessly made a reservation only to find out upon arrival that it’s only service pet friendly. We had to look elsewhere on a busy holiday weekend for another place to stay. I will be contacting Expedia to discuss a refund. The Inn said it would not be collecting the 2 nights stay fee due to the mixup

The place is lovely. A step back in time. Breakfast was great - next time we're there, we want to have another meal. And Margaret, at the desk, was both professional and warm, as was the wait staff and even the cleaning crew. Would highly recommend.
